Why hasnt the new smite meta come out?

Honestly before I could understand why only the jungle should take smite

as being he needs it to clear camps. However now that riot has added items that allow you to smite champions... why arent we seeing ADC's with the warrior enchant and skirmishers enchant? (skirm makes it so your basics do true dmg to smited enemy) warrior for damages ...

It could easily replace ignite,

and how about those tank tops? they can take it and get the slow enchant one then get juggernaut or warrior enchantment?

the same when it comes to supports? if the support took smite and got the blue one that slows them thats another form of CC combine that with exhaust if your ballsy enough to go without flash?

where are the five smite teams?

its viable with new smite items so why hasnt anyone actually done this? plus if gives the option of better dragon/baron control

You lose a whole Item slot and a summoner spell. It takes time for the spell to actually be helpful, and delays powerspikes. If you take smite, your build as ADC will look like:

item 3006 item 3714 item 3031 item 3072 item 3035 item 3046

If you didn't take smite, you could've had heal and like a GA/Banshees/Shiv/Bork.

The smite things just aren't as strong/useful as Exhaust or Ignite, and really you don't kill a lot of jg creeps. I really wanted to like it. I did. I actually did like bringing Stalkers on Blitz before the nerf. But now there's no point.

skirmishers blade is really op just saying.. and imagine it on an ADC? no need to build dmg when you have true dmg autos lol

I have. It's not as good as ignite, and more importantly it's not even close to as useful as heal.

you make it sound like it is actually good. There is a reason that mostly tanks take skirmishers now and its because it doesn't deal True Damage on AA hit and it hasn't for a while. It provides a DoT with each auto that deals that full damage so if you are constantly AA someone you are never going to get the full damage off. There is no reason to take it on an ADC. They deal enough damage fast enough that you'd be better off putting your gold into IE and hope for the crits. yea it provides vision, but so does a ward and after lvl 9 (which wouldn't be much longer than your smite upgrade) its only 6 secs longer.

The only thing that might be viable is damage reduction, but most adcs should be staying back and not taking as much damage anyway or have lifesteal to mitigate this. Overall you are only hurting yourself with buying a jungle item since you don't benefit enough from the stats and thats what adcs care about building almost exclusively glass cannon.

you realize item 3715 does true damage right? you get your auto dmg plus a 3second true damage DoT (like ignite) per basic attack

Onegarion1 votes

yes and as I said its terrible. Most adcs will proc that DoT again resetting the DoT, but not increasing the damage. I could instead have heal and hit you 3 more times for more damage. Also its like you didn't even read. I explicitly say all those things and explain why its bad. So after you smite them you get 1 AA off and now your opponent dashes away. Well guess that one was totally worth it right? The part you are forgetting is now your AA are also a lot weaker because you've opted for the smite upgrade instead of a Pickaxe or even another dorans. SO while you think you are doing more damage you are actually netting a net loss in overall damage and this will get you destroyed in almost all early games.

No, not per basic attack, because DoTs do not scale with attack speed. A Challenging Smite does a maximum of 162 + 18*level true damage, but that is regardless of whether you have 0.35 attack speed or 2.5 attack speed.

as a tank, I can see it though, to have access to cinderhulk

Or just get item 3068

too attached to all flash to go for all smite i guess.

I definitely took Smite on my supports before the Chilling nerf. A small bit of true damage and an undodgeable 50% slow on a 54 second cooldown? I loved it way more than Exhaust, it was excellent peel.

But now, with it only being a 20% MS slow, it's not really worth it.

The problem with ADCs building Skirmishers is that the item has a component that costs 750 gold and gives you 0 combat stats. ADCs are already basically at the point where the first champ to finish their IE wins lane, delaying that for some late game power would be problematic. Not to mention that with the Smite range nerf, most ADCs don't want to be that close to the enemy anyway, 20% DR or no.

I could see it on Vayne, and possibly Quinn, but that's about it.

it works well on cait

Smite is still the best spell you can take when laning against Heimerdinger

I can understand item heavy champions not getting it. ADC's in general don't have much wiggle room.

But other than that I don't fully understand it either.

While other summoners may be stronger. Smite has a 75s cooldown and up to 2 charges. You can start a fight with it and have one to use in 15s.

2x smite on dragon/barren > 1 (with proper communication)

If you're in an unfavorable lane, smite will help you farm. Especially that cannon minion.

Facing Hiemer? Smite

Give your jungler a boost by opening for them with smite. Have them start on a weaker camp that they wouldn't need the smite bonus. Such as doing blue before gromp. or birds before red.

Gives two champions who can smite steal. Smite on Leblanc or Kass?

Jungle items are cheep for their stats. if you're in a lane and expecting it to go poorly for you. These items can help you back into the game. If the jungle allows it. You can maybe even take a camp here and there for the bonus gold. Say wolves are up and he's ganking bot with the rest of his jungle up(or about to be up).

Yeah, but even with both uses, it still gives less power than a different summoner, and the other summoner spells give me the power all at once instead of forcing me to wait 15 seconds.

If you're in an unfavorable lane, smite will help you farm. Especially that cannon minion.

If I'm in an unfavorable lane, I'd rather take tp so I can use my health and skills to get entire waves of CS, then back and tp back into lane, or just tp gank another lane to get a snowball rolling.

Facing Hiemer? Smite

Please, please do this if you are facing me when I'm Heimer. I love it. It just makes my day. I have never had an easier lane to bully than one where my enemy devoted an entire summoner spell to wiping out one turret every once in a while. Those games are always so much fun.

Jungle items are cheep for their stats. if you're in a lane and expecting it to go poorly for you. These items can help you back into the game.

The problem with this is that if you are expecting a lane to go poorly, and you take smite, you essentially tell the other guy that he can just force you completely away from the creeps because you don't have a combat summoner to use in a fight with him, and you don't have tp to get back into lane if he bullies you. Your smite is almost completely useless until you buy an item that gives you no stats, so you end up weaker until you finish the full jungle item. I don't want to be weak for that long in a lane I'm already going to have trouble in, particularly when the full jungle item isn't really much more cost efficient than something else I could have had.

Smite does enable you to take camps, but early on your jungler will need those camps (counterjungling is not worth the spell, particularly for the time out of your lane and the risk of the other mid laner coming to stop you), and later on you don't need smite to clear camps.

The only advantage I would give smite is increased objective control, and TP gives that as well while also being a much more useful spell in most situations. It's just a bad pick in the vast majority of situations. You can probably find some situations worth using it in, but they are very rare.

Sightless661 votes

It's almost never a good idea. You deprive yourself almost completely of a summoner spell until you finish your jungling item, the actual smite upgrade costs a lot, and they are always lower impact than a comparable summoner spell. Red smite and blue smite can not match ignite and exhaust. I would always rather have the fighting summoner than smite. On an ADC, I'd rather have a defensive summoner. The ADC is also arguably the worst person to have red smite on, because it applies a flat DoT on your autos, so the fact that you are an autoattacker actually doesn't help it at all. A mage who autoattacks once every 3 seconds gets just as much damage from a red trinket as an ADC attacking 7 times in 3 seconds. The increase to your DPS is actually stupidly small from red trinke. I don't need a reasonably small source of flat damage that I can only use on one person on an ADC. I need something to keep me alive so I can use the scaling damage that comes from the items I build.

The only advantage smite has is the lower cooldown, and that can not make up for the numerous weaknesses.

If you are fighting against a Nunu or a Cho'Gath then I could maybe see a reason for it, to secure objectives, but otherwise Heal, Ignite or Exhaust would be superior.

Like others have said, it takes a while before you get smite upgraded and it takes even longer before it has lane base stats.
