Something about "Channeled" abilities

League has started adding abilities that look like they are being channeled when being used, but are actually not. I only have two examples of this right now and that's Darius's Q and Taliyah's Q. Both of them are abilities that occur over a long time (when compared to other abilities) and both of them have a very significant effect on the game. Darius can do lots of damage and heal off of his Q. Taliyah is hurling rocks in target direction. Each of these looks like "hey, they are doing something right now, I should be able to interrupt it. And then you find out that stuns, knock-ups, silence's, etc. do not interrupt these abilities. Even though it totally looks like it should.

I know that you can argue that Taliyah and Darius are not channeling abilities but casting them and they are being followed out, but a major part of character/ability design is to allow both the person playing the champ and players fighting the champ to understand what abilities are doing by just looking at them.

So can you tell the difference between a Lucian ult, Sion Q, Varus Q, Xerath Q,Katarina ult , all of which are CHANNELED abilities and can be stopped completely by stuns and knockups and silences (except for lucian's) and Darius Q and Taliyah Q? Certainly looks like a channel to me.

Taliyahs looks nothing like a channel, its her tossing rocks, it does not take any build up what so ever. Darius Q could be a possibly be changed to a channel, but that would ruin how he is played.

Katarina ult is a channel, with not buildup and continuous output

You cant interrupt those for good reason they'd have to give them an increase to the damadge ratios to make them viable if cc could make an important part of there kit useless

And i dout most peolpe would want that ( maybe taliyah and darius mains )

A true channel requires the champion to stand still. If you're ever unsure if an ability is a channel, test it by having Tahm Kench eat them; he will interrupt channels and dashes, but allow everything else to continue functioning.

Lucian's ult is not a channel, not in the same sense that Nunu's or Galio's or Katarina's are. The Culling, like Ryze's Realm Warp, is an interruptible spell that nevertheless is NOT a true channel.

Lucian R isn't a channel, it's just interrupted by stuns and disarms as an exception.

Varus and Xerath Qs aren't true channels, either; they're charges, like Vi Q. Notably, these all have effects that scale with the charge time and allow the user to move - making this perhaps a direction they could take Darius Q, but not Taliyah due to it having an effect over the course of its duration instead of at the end. Though, that would allow Darius Q to trigger off instantly with a double tap, which is the exact reason they changed the ability, so that seems kind of idiotic.

Also: Lux and Ezreal R. Long cast times that aren't channels have been in the game for a whiiile.

Here's a tip:

Channeling Spells disable movement. For the most part.
