Its gonna be season 8 and we honestly need a better match making system.
For those who dont know the system compensates the more you win, but the more you lose, it still compensates like if your winning here a prime example of whats been happening to me lately.
I can carry or semi-carry 1 - 3 matches then maybe win one or even two after on whim like i didn't perform that well but won anyways. So i get around 70 - 80LP right?
then the compensation enters, someone almost a tier lower than me or someone on a huge losing streak, this could be 1 - 2 players on my team. What happens? we lose. Okay next match right? lets prove our worth again and show the matchmaking system some performance thru consistency.. whelp you got an AFK now !
Then the system wonders hmm this player lost 2 matches ina row.. lets throw in some MORE COMPENSATION !
now the next match is even MORE likely in enemy favor, so if you lose that match if the system already has not done it, it will give you a teammate on the winning streak so you become the compensation in this match "that player" would deserve to keep going if he can win with you
(You would be the one currently on a lose streak. AKA the compensation itself for that player.)
But its also more than likely the other team has a similar scenario. So you absorb all this and think maybe "well that's fair !"
It is fair, its more than fair since you would be given one teammate off the back that you can depend on sorta, pretty encouraging. But if you lose THIS match then the system is reassured that you dont belong in the tier your in, so its a chance to take a step forward but you can easily take back 2 steps. This all occurs by the accumulation of lost matches. So the reality check here is this match WOULD of been an honest match to lose but since the accumulation of lost matches, it makes this match that much more punishing to the player if they lose.
From this entire thread so far, even from me personally telling you what matches i won and lost, even you couldn't judge if i belonged in gold 5 or not BASED JUST on the information i just gave you, i told you i won some but I also lost some on circumstances that have nothing to do with the way i personally played in those matches. So what happens now? i am right back where i started, and this whole thing loops over and over i know im not the only one either. This system isn't smart enough to tell performance, therefore it will never be accurate.
If players were helped by having they're performances averaged out they're MMR & LP AFTER the win/lose or subtractions/additions. Players would have no excuse period they're performance would matter to a small degree. This would even cut out toxicity a bit believe it or not for everyone would be responsible for themselves. First of all it needs to take into consideration when an AFK occurs, not consideration to pardon a lost match entirely just to acknowledge that it HAPPENED period. It needs to acknowledge when you feed your ass off too. Here consistency has much more value to showcase:
- Perfect KDA / Barely died / Died here and there / Died quite a lot / Food for enemy
- Team participation interactions, what exactly did you do with your team? did you contribute? was your performance up-to-par with your allies?
^^ Here is where consistency can actually prove your skill. If the system was able to recognize those instances as data to average out the players MMR over a series of 10 matches for example, it would be far much more accurate in keep players in they're appropriate bracket.
Players are ALREADY over-concerned with KDA, they're personal KDA, its where all the pride comes from, you already have "pentakills" and such to entice the player to be GREAT, to add swag to they're performances. Averaging out does not mean your put completely off where your wins and loses put you at, it simply just averages out everything, it takes EVERYTHING into consideration. With everything acknowledged the player should feel better rewarded, and more fairly punished. Every player is still in they're own league this does not change the way the player plays, rather gives players a small safety net in mind to fall too, in order to feel a bit better about the outcomes of matches.
