I miss being able to catch up to people with Sion passive and actually make it useful.
R.I.P In Peace alacrity.

R.I.P In Peace alacrity.
But then the enemy team also had alacrity boots and you were stuck in the same position of not being able to catch them?
Sion was indirectly buffed by removal of enchants, alacrity especially. Yes, it makes everyone slower, but it also makes it harder to get out of certain abilities like Sion's Q. Dodging abilities with the removal of alacrity and the massive nerfs to swifty boots has become a little bit harder all across the board.
Build Righteous Glory once in a while and save the active for when you die. You're welcome. :D
And frozen mallet
heheheheh
I just don't understand how one (or two, although Furor wasn't really an issue) enchantments were deemed so broken that they would rather remove all enchantments and not just nerf the one or two in question.
Because when it came down to it...only alacrity and furor gave movement speed.
Edit: I forgot about homeguards and captain, sorry Homeguards: Good for loosing teams and tp plays...not exactly broken Captain: LOL
Never was broken but they gave useful small speed buffs for certain situations. Now i find it harder to catch highly mobile champions since i cant get alacrity anymore :/
This is irrelevant because those 'highly mobile champions' likely also bought Alacrity so there was no net gain from both of you buying it.

Nah uh , if I buy it I'm still faster than them because logic. <Insert snarky statement about how awful a company RIOT is here>.

There was though, because having the bonus movement speed made dodging skillshots easier, which was a big part of the problem.
In the context of buying Alacrity boots to "catch highly mobile champions easier", both parties got +20 MS for buying Alacrity, making it no easier to catch or escape your pursuee or pursuer.
As a vayne main I miss furor :/
same. furor really needed to stay. you could try building a frozen mallet for maximum cheese.
Removed Homeguards, Alacrity becomes the 99% bought Boot enchant. MS became overbearing from Swifties + Alacrity + 3rd Drag, on top of new MS granting items like Luden's Echo and Deadman's Plate. If they had instead nerfed/removed Alacrity and not foresaw the impending trend of the next thing becomes the solely bought enchantment, Distortion would have taken the top spot as the most bought Boot enchant. After that Furor. There would have been one clear outlier in the Boot Enchantment meta just like there are with Champs.
MS now is much more in line, but that also caused the nerf to Swifties due to new found lack of high MS.
You keep saying that they removed all of them because there would always be one clear outlier...which doesn't make sense
League is about outliers. Let's be 100% honest here, League has never been aiming at everything being completely balanced. The game would become stale, unable to be changed without breaking. League revolves around creating outliers that effect the meta and gameplay...that's why things like Lucian and the Tank Assassins became a thing. That's why Metas such as Juggernaut or Assassin metas are a thing.
So my question is...was it really such a bad thing to have Alacrity be the "dominant" enchantment? They could have nerfed it similar to
(rip) or just removed that one enchantment. It's not like Distortion or Furor would be any stronger from the removal Alacrity...but the niche they provide would become stronger from the removal of Alacrity as they provided the next best thing.
And the purpose of enchantments where to support niches...and it's not unknown that movement speed is the prominent advantage most champions have but a lot of champions where unnecessarily hurt or dumbed-down from the removal of all of the enchantments.
The blue boot enchant was my go to because it helped you flash a SHIT ton more and teleport more. 190 seconds was so useful..
The trick Riot pulls in cases like this is to continue trying to convince you they are competent developers, rather then admit the move speed on their new items was a god awful mistake, they butcher older items. Giving you the illusion that the new ones are effective.
Homeguards were actually some of the most powerful movement enchants in the game. Admittedly they fell off a bit late-game, but in lane phase it let you back for wards/gear/etc while not missing CS or lane XP even better than teleport. And it basically doubled the clear speed and halved the risk of a lot of junglers, too.
Even late-game HG was to strategic champs what furor was to champs normally limited by low sticky: not necessarily overpowered, but powerful enough to render a lot of supposed tradeoffs in champion selection completely pointless.
These are the same people that decided to just remove Spellvamp as an option for all champs because ONE champ abused the hell out of it. And they also created the exact same situation with Deathsdance where about the only person that builds it is Graves who abuses the hell out of it.
It's also the new dragon. The stats the new dragons give in combination with the boot enhancements would be simply too strong.
Possibly but honestly i think the air dragon could of just been a flat scaling of minion haste when near them and an additional effect.. so 2 buffs in one like the earth drake.
You say this as if Clown Drake is useful.
It is.
I swear all of Riots changes are just to dumb down the game. All of their changes seem to want to simplify things.
Screwed up the warding 2 seasons ago
Screwed up Sorakas kit so that she cant give mana anymore and then they completely removed mana pots from the game
Slowly but surely with every rework, new champ release and patch they are making every champ able to play all roles IE Quinn top, Vayne top....now every adc wants to top .......Kindread released....now every adc wants to jungle. Hell i havnt seen Graves play in any game as a adc since his changes....he's just running around the jungle vaping.............(insert any champs name here_____ _____ _____ with a sightstone....wallah support) TEEMO...teemo is literally played everywhere. TANK assasins........ TANKS who can build no damage but still do more damage than the carries....the list goes on.
And like you said...the boot enhanceents
I just wish they'd cut down on all the %MS buffs present in the game already. Luden's 10%, Lich's 7%, Censer 8%, Trinity 5%, the ADC crit items, Youmuus 20% active, and more. Considering how easy they are to stack and acquire in any build, they could easily have afforded the reduction.
I Miss Captain boots enhancement, now I have to play Janna to speed up that SLOW AS FUCK KOG MAW.
Loved building furor on karthus for those sweet qs.
What if rito got new enchantments back in the game, but made them hyper expensive, like 4000 or 5000. that way, the enchants could be kinda op in riots mind, and still be something you have to wait to get until you're full build. the enchants could be a gold-sink for 50+ minute games
What if they added a blink effect enchant but made it super expensive like 2000 gold so it would only be gotten late game and would really help champs that really need their flash to engage like a Galio
It would probably be cancerous tho
i thought rocketbelt was going to do this but it really didnt help much at all lol
I think rocketbelt is mostly useless
It's good on certain champions, such as
and
. There's a very small subset of champions (AP scaling, no major mana problems/no mana at all, mixed stats between tank and AP that still needs CDR, likes to dive teamfights) that really likes it, but everyone else doesn't really care. There are better AP items, better HP items, better CDR items, and items with better actives/passives.
This would make already mobile champs, even More mobile....... That makes the situation even worse for immobile champs.
+ distortion = stereotype
for good measure get

Don't forget Stormriders surge and procked passive for maximum thrust.

Don't forget Stormriders surge and procked passive for maximum thrust. yippyki
mothertrucker
The irony is that riot doesn't notice the only reason movement speed was powerful was because mobility creep and everything being a skill shot.
They created the problem, quit stopping players from playing around the problems you created.
I just replace boots with
late game
does the speed gets too affected by such change?
I usually lose around 10-20 ms.
give extra ms when champions are near, which happens alot late game so its worth it. The other two give great stats so they are also worth it since most mages dont really need that much ms.
To further the irony, they're talking about buffing the wind drake's bonus movespeed.
Diversity?!! Most people use to rush Homeguard, so it became a global stat at 20 minutes. Next Alacirty took over everything else, so there really was no diversity having just that. That was why they removed them completely.
remember vayne with the red enchant??? [zombie-nunu-tears]
don't remind me
The funny part is that they added movement speed to like every AD item when they did the AD rework.
So it really wasn't boots that were the problem.
what AD items are u talking about
[{quoted}](name=Blac Iyc,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=ea0lmQYr,comment-id=00110001,timestamp=2016-06-27T14:02:11.779+0000)
what AD items are u talking about
possibly more. Just extra items with more movespeed, just like
for AP champs (which is also the same problem with another set of items)
If the movement speed on these stupid items (
) was made into a unique passive..... We could have enchantments back.
yea cuz theyre the real problem (sarcasm)
The issue wasn't necessarily "too much speed", it was that boots were able to completely cancel out the differences in speed that were supposed to be inherent to the design of the characters.
If they brought back badges but just didn't have any of them effect speed (e.g. adding a non-stacking half-power version of the unique boot passives you can stick on a different pair of boots) I don't think they'd suffer any of the balance issues they did with things like Red badge, which literally completely negated the primary balancing factor that kept a lot of ranged ADCs reasonable.
The company quote on quote said there was too much movement speed in the game when explaining why they were removing the boot enchantments for 6.9.
