Tank Camille will be cancerous af im calling it right now.

Darth Sidiouss··109 votes·14,895 views

For those who don't know her passive adepts to AP or AD damage and grants a shield based on max HP based off of 20% of her max HP. Remember tank ekko ? This champion has a kit to escape or not let her prey escape as well and thats far more cancerous than tank ekko used to be.

Lowkey this is probably exactly what will happen.

To be honest i can see it pretty well, she seems like the rioters had a contest on who could make the most overloaded champions recently.

they had to ban CT from it first, or he would instawin

Camille is a "Diver" type fighter. We expect her to build 2-4 tank items like Vi or Irelia (also divers).

Quah26 votes

Thank you!! I have been saying this since her reveal. The only time people were saying that she would go full damage was when her Q could crit.

Nathaniell113 votes

Another tanky bruiser with true dmg which you cant shake off, ever, great.

Quah10 votes

I will say that she probably needs number adjustments, likely a nerf to the CD on her E. But the damage window on the true damage is pretty long, and in a teamfight scenario she is too big a target to not have hard CC dropped on her to stop the second Q hit. If she doesn't use the second activation of her Q within about a second of the true damage activation, she loses it until the next cast.

NightmareAmazoX4 votes

Excuse me she has that sweet juicy W which gives her health and slows target for 80% its a really good ability if there is a fight at baron, She'll just hook off like batman and come at your face with that Hextech Ultamatum.

Quah5 votes

The wind up on it is huge, it's super telegraphed, she is animation locked while it winds up, the heal is really not that much unless she hits EVERYONE, and it is not that big of an area that it hits in.

coreychichi1 votes

You know when I trade with a champion and I take damage but they don't Cuz "lol free shield passive I don't have to manage" it seriously makes me hate the game.

Glory ln Death6 votes

Easy solution: counterpick her with champions who deal mixed damage. The shield only blocks one type of damage.

Plus, it has a pretty short duration and a decent cooldown. So take the initiative and engage on her to get off a bunch of damage before the shield, or engage while it's on cooldown.

...isn't still the case, right?

Wow, randomly downvoted for asking a simple question. And yet I was the one recently accused of being a toxic individual... xD

CrazedPorcupine12 votes

yes that was removed, about a day after camille went onto the PBE.

Randomonium1 votes

Really? I figured she would be considered a skirmisher.

On another note, does Riot consider Kled a diver or a skirmisher? (My guess is diver.)

NightmareAmazoX5 votes

His ultimate screams Diver. Heck everything does from Voice lines to abilities names. Lol.

Anonagon1 votes

His ultimate actually is not very "diver" at all, considering it locks him onto the first target he sees, meaning he can't ignore frontlines the way many divers want to.

Kled is a skirmisher, through and through.

Randomonium1 votes

And this is why I wanted a Rioter to weigh in on the topic. He has both diver and skirmisher aspects to his kit.

Anonagon2 votes

No, he has basically entirely skirmisher elements.

Divers and Skirmishers are very similar classes but there are two major points of differentiation - their mobility and their defenses.

Divers have powerful, cooldown gated mobility spells that either have huge reach (Vi Q, Irelia Q, Camille E) or insane reliability (Pantheon W, Xin Zhao E). These spells are designed to get Divers onto the enemy backline. Skirmishers on the other hand don't have mobility spells on basic abilities with such raw gapclosing power. They instead have mobility that is much more persistent and repeatable - mostly very low cooldown, short range dashes (Fiora Q, Yasuo E), with the noticable exception being Gangplank, who simply just gets lots of speedboosts. Kled's E falls directly in the latter category, being a very short range dash with an effective 3 second cooldown lategame (2 casts on a 6 second cooldown).

For defensive tools, Divers often have very simple, relatively low-power tools, if any at all. Skirmishers on the other hand have incredibly powerful defensive tools, but they are much more gated (Wind Wall 26 second cooldown), they are often expressions of skill (Grand Challenge), and they often scale with offensive stats or reward offensive play (Valor). Kled's remount is a perfect example of this - its an insanely powerful defensive tool, but its only going to ever happen once in a long while and Kled has to play risky to get it.

While those two are really the only important things when it comes to classifying him as a Skirmisher over a Diver, the rest of his kit also leans into a Skirmisher playstyle. All his skills have massive bonus AD ratios. The ways his W works prevents him from saving his damage for a priority target like a Diver would want to. His ult grants him a massive AD scaling shield.

His ultimate isn't intimately tied to being a Skirmisher, but ultimates don't define what class a champion belongs to, unless its on a basic ability cooldown like Kassadin or Corki. Ultimates give champions access to tools from outside their class and give them a reason to be picked over similar champions. Kled's ult gives him the unique distinction of being a Skirmisher with hard engage.

Can I ask what the reason is for the bonus auto damage on her ultimate being magic damage instead of physical?

Quah1 votes

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong Riot, but I would guess that it is so she is a more effective tank killer?

But she builds Black Cleaver. She would deal more physical damage than magic to a target who builds armor and MR like a tank.

Quah1 votes

But the magic damage is % current HP, is it not?

But the magic damage is % current HP, is it not?

Yes but that's not my point. My question is why make the % damage magic instead of physical?

Quah3 votes

Because split damage means that a tank she is laning against has to build split resistances early or take a ton more damage from the ult's bonus damage.

Irelia Bot23 votes

Lasting for 1.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds with a 20 to 10 second cooldown.

The devil is is the details. She will however likely have similar builds to Irelia given that she does have short enough cooldowns that Trinity is a good option. She is a dive fighter not a juggernaut and not an assassin.

Scoroct3 votes

She sounds a lot like a combination of Irelia and Vi

MunchCrunchLunch22 votes

Step 1 : pickCamille Step 2: Build item 3078 item 3748 into full tank Step 3 : ????? Step 4 : Profit

SaltyToplaneGoat7 votes

Eh why trinity? item 3748 item 3111 item 3071 item 3025 item 3742 + item of choice, preferable with HP.

Should do the trick I guess.

Chromatic Eagle1 votes

What should her runes and masteries be?

Electro5223 votes

Considering she has practically no AP scalings, I'd say a normal AD top lane rune page.

9 AD marks 9 Armor Seals 9 MR or Scaling MR Glyphs and then 3 Quints of AD

Simple.

TotalJerk1 votes

Her cooldowns are far too high for Trinity Force.

Nathaniell14 votes

Yeah.. first item trinity = 20%CDR + 10% from runes.. and they wont be anymore. Her Q has 6 sec CD and starts with her first cast.. not her last.. so with 30% you have 4.2. You Q with TF, wait 2 sec Q again with TF, wait 2.2 sec and you can do it again.. doesnt seem as high CD for me.

ModCaptainMårvelous16 votes

As a small reminder: Camille isn't an assassin. She's a fighter/bruiser.

She's SUPPOSED to build tanky with some AD. She's not a character you go in, get a kill then get out with. She's a character who goes in and stays in. She also doesn't boast the utility Ekko does. (Ekko had a giant AoE shield and a metric fuckton of slows vs. Camille's single knockback ult, her slow and repositioning knockback.)

Jeddy01713 votes

To be fair, Ekko is intended to be an assassin while Cami is intended to be a diver like Irelia or Vi. One is suppose to build full damage & the other is suppose to build damage & defense. So it comes as no surprise if her most successful build has a number of tank items.

So this is not like Tankko, that shit was never intended & should never had existed.

Ideally a diver gets two-three damage items. If she builds like a juggernaut where she has only one damage item and tank afterwards and excels, it could be a sign of a problem (doesnt automatically mean there is one, but there could be one).

Orangesilk3 votes

Not really, many divers get by using a single damage item like Irelia who builds item 3078 item 3143 item 3065 and a VERY situational item 3091

Or Hecarim who goes item 3078 item 1401 item 3742 item 3065

I mean, they made Kled and stopped any Tank Kled abuse, so I'm fairly confident Riot can pull off Camille nicely. But only time will tell.

L0ve Is Blue6 votes

tank ekko had:

loads of health

3 slows a stun a way to recover all its health in a second AOE damage

The only cc Camille has is a small ass stun and her kit does no damage if she doesn't build AD because all of her spells scales with it and she is auto attack reliant. Litteraly ALL of her damage is single target but her W. She will be about as strong as fiora, nothing more.

PaladinNO4 votes

You actually sound surprised...

Frankly, I'm not really sure what's the point the PBE at all, considering how utterly broken a lot of the stuff coming out of it really is. Okay, so Azir is a horror-story on how much of a nightmare something actually can turn out to be to get right here, but over, say, the last 20 champions released, how many was actually buffed on week 4-6 after their release?

I REALLY don't understand why even the so-called high-ranking, in-house playtesters can't see this even after so many occurrences.

Much like Daxanater says, there is a pattern to find on this: Week 1: 7800 IP / 975 RP (released broken, so as many as possible will - hopefully - spend money on it). Week 2: 6300 IP / 975 RP. Week 3: In free champion rotation (in the hopes of even more people unlocking - preferably buying - her). Week 4-5: Nerfed.

Later: New skin with buffs.

Profit indeed.

And this is especially right:

1 week after release there will be at least 10 threads about it with no rioters response.

Chembaron Yamada8 votes

That pattern didn't work out for the newest champions we got, don't you think?

Kled Everyone yell'd that this guy is going to be broken on release. Turned out he was perfectly balanced and still is til today. Ivern Everyone said he is useless trash in the beginning. Turned out that just no one knew how to actually play him because his play style is different from everything we had in the game this far. He is super strong now and actually needs nerfs, but just several weeks after his release.

People are losing their mind every time a new champ gets released. Let Camille stay some time on the rift and we will see how her balance status turns out. But saying that Riot is creating overpowered champs intentionally is not correct in my opinion. Granted, back when they released Azir and Kalista, they made mistakes by giving these champions too many strengths. But they learn from their mistakes in my opinion. Kled is the perfect example for this. Clear strengths and weaknesses, absolutely balanced and he is incredibly fun to play.

NightmareAmazoX2 votes

Lol agreed. Ivern has the highest win rate of all the junglers, His bard 2.0!

Matezoide3 votes

I thought that was common knowledge already?

Then again, almost nobody but MagikarpUsedFly called Tank Ekko being cancer on release.

Jeddy01716 votes

Ekko had a ton of CC, too. This let him get by without building AP & relying on base damages.
