Best Support for Ezreal?

I just can't seem to support Ezreal right...

I've tried: Taric But he can't really help Ez CS, and both him and Ez are weak early game Leona Same with CS, and Ez can't take advantage of her early-game powerspikes and lane-bully status, since he builds item 3070 not item 1038 and she can't poke to let him focus on CS. Sona She can make up for his poor CS and can poke, but she can't help him get kills with her kit. Her Q and E are ideal for KSing, which sucks for winning games. Her R should but the damage is actually pretty high, I still end up KSing.

Any tips? I know I have to take composition / counters into consideration but I'm at an absolute loss on how to support this guy.

Alistar

when i have an ezreal i like to go with the alistar pick why you ask well here are my big 3 reason

  1. Tanky: a good offset to the squishy ezreal, hard to kill and gives you options to great shield items like item 3401 item 3190

  2. Heals and Peels: with his rework you have access to a pretty strong (albeit conditional) heal that can grant sustain for the more aggressive style a lot of ezreal players like to go with and your ability to send foes flying with your headbutt and your ult to help body block nasty skill shots is really helpfull

and lastly

  1. CC out the ass: Throwback,stun,knock-up with these you can not only keep the ezreal safe but you can also set up his abilities since there all skillshots, this allows him to do more damage efficently

I support well Ezreal with Thresh

That sounds good, thanks!

Np mate, keep in mind that I use item 3301 as starter item on Ez but you can use item 3302 if you are more comfortable with it

Anything that has good disengage/counterengage potential and mobility to actually stay with Ez Janna Karma Nami are good choices.. If you want tanky Alistar works.. For offmeta picks Poppy Trundle can work.

I use to main Ezreal but that was a couple Seasons ago and my mechanics on ADCs has diminished over the time learning new champions and lanes. I now mainly play Mid, Jungle and Top but from my own experience(which probably goes for any ADC champ), anyone playing Ezreal that doesn't know the match ups and have the skills/mechanics won't be getting any kills at all until he gets his power spike from completed items(Mid-Late Game/Out of Laning Phaing).

Like I said, my ADC mechanics has diminished extraordinarily over the last 1-2 Seasons so this is just my own opinion from experience.

Best you could do is play supports who amplifies his DMG and/or help sustain/soak incoming DMG like Nami, Janna, Soraka or Morgana to extend 2v2 fights for as long as possible in hopes that your Ezreal can come out on top in winning.

Ultimately it'll all come down to the Ezreal securing kills on his own. Even if you spend all your mana trying to prolong a fight to go in your favor and the enemy ADC 's HP is 5%, if your Ezreal can't blow a Flash, Arcane Shift, land a Q or even AA then it's pointless to even play such supports and you would rather just play as a carry sup and secure kills yourself.

champion.gg shows Lulu, Sion, Leona, Annie, Brand, Zyra, Lux, Soraka, Braum as all being decent. Plenty of options, but a common theme among some if ranged slows/snares/stuns.

ezreal has 2 weaknesses. and 1 good strength.

His early game damage is lacking (cause of tear rush)

He has no wave clear

He is very safe.

He needs a support who can damage and help him wave clear, zyra and brand are the best for him.

Since he is safe, he doesn't really need a super peel support like janna.

I would definitly say, Zyra is the best. combo with her ult/snare and her high early damage will forgive your tear rush.

Leona and Alistar are both good because they can protect him while he farms up. If the lane ends up a total loss then those 2 supports can still roam the map and make plays with champions on your team that matter.

I find Leona's terrible for him (I'm a Leona main) I know theoretically she should work because of her stuns, but she loses kill preasure- which is the only zoning tool she has. Ez can't even follow up her engages with his low damage and his short range. I understand what you're getting at though.

It depends on the play style of the Ezreal and the timing of the engages. My wife and I have destroyed laning phase as Leona and Ezreal quite often because I know my damage output and can leap in when she lands a Zenith Blade.

So that'd be both Ez and Leo EWQ/EQW? Sounds kinda' tasty...! I'd like to try that with my premade but I don't think I can trust the soloQ gods to pull of that awesomeness.

I'm a support main but I only generally play Sona Nami andSoraka

I've found that Soraka and Sona work the best because Ez is more of a poke + burst adc than sustained damage adc, so he's not auto attacking as much as he casts abilities. So for me, Sona's poke and burst and Soraka's poke and healing have worked the best

Not to say Nami hasn't worked though. Just that her E hasn't felt as useful on EZ as it has other champions but the CC helps him land his spam

Bard Braum Karma Lulu Morgana Nami Leona Thresh Zyra

are all great picks that complement Ez's poke or all in capability.

Ezreal is a champ who can carry his own lane

Honestly I'd say you've been matched with some conservative or poor ezreals. Comparative to most marksmen, Ezreal is a case of death by a thousand cuts. Landing the Q poke can be the pivotal deciding factor in who wins the lane. I think Ezreal is my most played adc, and I'm sure I've had greater success with a specific kind of support, but for the most part it's all been consistent.

The thing with Ezreal is knowing who you can fight, and who shoves the wave in better. Eg: Jinx should have ez under tower all game (and if she does there's no way you can win the 2v2), but sometimes they don't try it, so I use the majority of my Qs to manage the waves, poking where I can.

That's why I'm concerned about poke + help CSing when it's being pushed, and maybe being able to hold an opponent in place for Ez to take them out instead of them running off with 60 HP. The first reply suggested Thresh and I think he really fills that niche. It's very dangerous to approach Thresh under tower so I think that's another + point for them. And... I won't disagree that the ones I support tend to be subpar- but you gotta' work with what you're given.

Unfortunately Ezreal is just one of those champions who easily flies under the radar. I frequently get shit-talked by my team for doing no damage, but by the end of the game I'm a solid 10-20k ahead of the next highest. He just doesn't chunk like Adcs like Varus, and doesn't fire massive AAs like caitlyn.

NekoniClaws1 votes

That really sucks =(

I've played Ez a few times and he really dishes it out once he's been able to build a little, and if his Ult is used properly. I think his oddly timed powerspikes, the fact he has a 'safe' build (gauntlet) and his odd builds for an ADC really throw people off.

Oh and those 'snipe' compilations on youtube. OTZ

Even though as a Zyra main, I hate laning with an Ez, I think she shores up his weaknesses very well. Ez is the only ADC that gets weaker after his first buy, even if he was winning lane, compared to the enemy ADC. He backs, buys boots and tear, and then gets shit on by the guy who bought BF Sword.

Supports like Zyra that can essentially 1v2 for the first 5-7 levels of the game, will probably work. Otherwise, it's just hyper defensive things, sit back and farm, and hope you don't get shit on too badly.

Braum gets his passive which is nice for last hits, AFAIK the last hitter counts for the reward if the buff makes a kill. He can also cover Ezreal and an Ez E/Braum W can beat a hasty retreat or initiate for them both.

I would generally stay away from support mages IMO, Ezreal doesn't bring even a slow to the table and being cornered could be a big problem. Lulu would probably be an exception as she gets a good amount of control across her kit.

Someone who is largely uninteractive is the best choice. Like Janna. Cause Ezreal is a boring as shit adc who doesn't do anything in lane. May as well get a boring ass Support who doesn't allow for interaction either.
