'Flame the Jhin, he'll play better!'

I just had the joy of a high elo team in ARAM.

Pretty comfortable with this... but then my family wake up.

My mom is crying. She had to fix my dad's respirator in the night - she's incredibly tired (she has a chronic fatigue). My dad hears her, comes in, argues. My grandma hears her... it's a family row 5 foot from me.

My play's obviously getting shaky. My team's noticed and are dropping little quips. I've gone from playmaking, and super-clean, to.. 'meh'. Then, my dad (because he's angry) starts watching netflix instead of waiting for 5 more minutes. My ping goes to 300.

I have been apologizing for playing poorly, and communicating just why I'm playing so poorly. I am still trying my best, because I want to end this game ASAP and go help my family.

The chat's rolling around. I can't pay attention to it, but then I see something odd. "No, we should flame Jhin because then he'll learn and play better"

[slayer-jinx-unamused]

Yohohoho ok people. I understand you think anything below plat is a smear on a baby's diaper, and it just feeellllss soooo good to rub your shiny border alll over the less shiny borders. But man, you sure are full of **. You've all been playing pretty freakin' poorly with GOOD ping and no drama (Blitzcrank, in bush, notice.)

Yeah, I LEARNT SOMETHING ALRIGHT. The next time I say there's a family issue going on and I'm distracted, and my team starts flaming me regardless, I'm going to go and help the people who actually deserve it. And funnily enough those people aren't the trash-talking stooges who I was randomly assigned to play a super-casual videogame mode with.

It will be harsh, but honestly NOBODY (in game) cares what happens to you. You start playing bad/leave the game, you just ruined the game for the others. That's all.

  1. Do not do this. (Yet as i understand, this is a very rare occasion)
  2. Just ignore them, mute them and do whatever you feel. (If you want to leave, leave and help the family, but do NOT expect anybody to be happy about it ingame)
  3. If this happens often maybe you should not play multiplayer PvP

I really do not understand why people in this comment section is against you on this.

I can totally agree with you that people does not know how to show respect and they don't care about what is happening for you. BUT, you need to keep in mind that, those people in that game, and some other people they flame you because you played poorly, and this is where i don't understand why people in this comment section tells you TO NOT PLAY BAD or says that you deserve it.

Here is what i am going to say

It's just a fucking video game, the people that the games gets ruined for them will probably go ahead and take another game and don't give a shit about that game he just played

So yeah, next time go help your family. :)

Hahaha. What idiots! Sorry you had to go through that in an ARAM.

A heimerdinger said this to me. An mf joined him.

I on got an IFS report.

Felt good.

In such a crisis you should have left the game so that the rest of the team can FF earlier. Just explain it in chat to leave a record of it in case they report you for leaving so support can confirm you did it in good faith.

Prolonging a crappy game where you were playing half assed is bound to annoy your team more than leaving the game altogether.

No, we should flame Jhin because then he'll learn and play better

I love this spicy mix of toxicity, self-irony and pragmatism.

Sadly there is this zero tolerance policy from Riot, that expects gamers to behave in unrealistic ways, something that will never be realized.

So I guess this is the point where I should, say: "this is not okay, players don't learn if you flame them, you are just increasing the emotional stress blah blah whatever"

While I am actually just wondering, since when is flaming so serious and taken so seriously?

First off let me say this everyone has their own problems and you do not know if something is similar is happening to them and they are taking their anger out on you (wrongly so).

Second I do not think flaming anyone will ever help your team at all. If a player is doing poorly flaming them only makes this person commit more mistakes which I realize is the point of this long post.

thrid Your story makes no sense how was your mom fixing your dads respirator and he came in after that cause he heard it? Also when you post a stack of problems like this it makes it seem like your saying OMG PLZZ GIVE ME ATTENTION! aka like the person on facebook that posts "Don't even ask me about my day"

Overall this is ARAM so if they are flaming so hard just tell them stop tryharding cause its ARAM, because if I wanted to play a real game of league I would be in ranked.

I once had to take a 10 minute break in Aram came back and I told them I had to walk my GF to her car. They laughed said I had no gf and a little back and forth joking and I said I am sorry and we got over it and we ended up winning this Aram game somehow lol. anyways get some over the ear gaming headphones it will prevent distractions because I assume you might be playing league to escape a bit and that will help you focus. Good luck summoner.

I woulda just afked. Family comes before any stupid video game. And as much as everyone likes to act like league matches are life and death, they aren't. If family shit happens once in a while, deal with it first. Just be up front and honest and do everything in your power to avoid it happening.

So I like how this post has gone from the OP claiming they were legitimately flaming him, to flaming for fun. There is a distinct difference, and you are in the post fighting for one thing, and in comments completely contradicting it. I disagree with this entirely, no I do not think that people should be banned for words when there is a mute button IN THE GAME that takes 2 seconds to hit, and no I don't think that you should continue to play the game with that much going around you. Yes it does ruin the experience for the other 4 just so you can play the game longer and avoid life, no they aren't ruining your already shitty experience.

I'm going to get really pissed off at someone who randomly starts playing like crap because it looks like they are trolling. I think someone said it best in the comments, if the game remains just a video game, the words are just that, words with no meaning. You cannot have it both ways. Now you can support the game the way I do, It is a passion, but I don't care about what people say, but you cannot have it the other way around. You cannot have it be where you expect them to not care about the game, but also care about what they say, that isn't how this works.
