Well, it was a fun run.
I know I'm going to get negative responses anyway (people are already downvoting without giving responses because of their "League can't have anything wrong with it!" mentality), but no, I'm not going to say League sucks now. However, its current direction no longer suits my idea of 'fun.'
Laning and jungling were my two favorite aspects of league, and both are heavily watered down with the current pace of the game. Before if you were killed in lane, you could play safe and catch back up. Now you get dumpstered repeatedly. It doesn't feel good whether I'm on the winning or losing end. As a jungler, those games where you feel like you can't gank any lane successfully are more prevalent than ever. Nobody likes those games. With the new pushing mechanics and paper towers, there's more global pressure than ever, which makes games feel even worse if you're on the losing end, and far too easy if you're on the winning end.
The game doesn't feel as strategic anymore. Skill nearly stops mattering after the gold/exp balance in a lane is broken. The entire dynamic of a lane practically disappears.
I'll be keeping an eye on patch notes, but unless things change, I won't be coming back.
Out of curiosity, for those of you that do enjoy the new pacing of the game, why do you enjoy it? Not that you accept it...that you enjoy it; that you wouldn't want the old pacing of league back.
For those of you that like the pacing, but dislike League's general direction, what about the pacing do you like, and what about the direction do you dislike?
For those of you that agree with me, what did you used to enjoy about the old pacing of League compared to what you dislike about the new pacing?
And for any Rioters out there, was this drastic change in pacing intended, or something you're going to dial back by the time the season starts? I could easily imagine it being something you're doing in preseason to see who has intrinsic advantages over the rest of the roster by consistently gaining those small advantages that destroy the balance in a lane, leading to that huge snowball...but at the same time, in the back of my head I doubt its intended merely for balance testing purposes.
