However, that's his thing. Hitting level 6 means the enemy team is soon going to get a free turret.

And no, he is not beyond good. His laning is subpar compared to many other top champions because of his ultimate. His laning is not good.

Dextix LT1 votesOH yes, she was op, and very prominent in LCS because of the insane map coverage she had. However, shen is not op in any way shape or form, and certainly nowhere near the level of what rek'sai was.
The problem is that rek'sai then got even more nerfs and so many nerfs because of her map coverage that she became a stun bot that cant do anything else. Only now, these days her mobility is targeted. She was quite shit for a while before getting buffed again.
I dont want this to happen with shen, because he is nowhere near op and Riot wants to make his kit more or less useless besides his ultimate, like they did with rek'sai.
I will ignore the bronze comment especially since it comes from a gold 5 that is very near silver and always was there. Dont bring in divisions if you are that low.
Melledoneus1 votesMy friend is a Diamond 2 Shen main, and he admits that my skill with Shen is far above my division, but I don't aspire to go for the glory.
Nonetheless, I agree that Shen's laning phase is subpar. You need to put in much more effort to win trades than most top laners do. Shen is the only laner who needs to position his spirit sword and make himself predictable to win. Even then, champions like Jayce and Darius screw him over even if he gets the buff and they win trades by default.

I think we're talking about different champions here. shen DOES damage, and he does a good amount of it. he's a really solid counter to anyone that builds black cleaver and all you really need to start pushing hard is a bami's and a recurve bow. though I don't think a nerf is in order here either, he's in a good spot and should probably stay that way.
Anags2 votesThey nerfed TP which makes his ult even stronger in competitive play. His ult has always been a balance problem in competitive play.
And now if he can use that ult to help get first turret gold then he is even better.
Global ults are just really strong in coordinated play. Especially now that tp isn't as good.
If he didn't have that ult he wouldn't even be played at all in the pro scene.

But that is also the reason to pick him in pro play you nerf that and he wont be played. If you nerf other parts of this kit you could allow other top laners to be picked against him as they will be able to leaverage his weakness in lane.
right now his laning is too safe, so people cannot crush him in lane and prevent is teleport plays being relevent later.

Not that he should be crushed that he is able to be crushed. For example since he isn't an agressive laner you should be able to take a scaling champion against him. Have a cushy laning phase then out carry Shen. Atm this does happen with 
(easy enough to ban and pick shen) but it doesn't work for

. Shem needs to be nerfed in a way such that carry champions work against him in lane.
This patch is about Worlds, specifically. Riot does want pros to use him and they don't care about his performance in solo queue, this patch anyway. it doesn't matter what you want, it is about allowing for champion diversity and balance in Pro play

And yes, diversity in pro play. That is why champs like lee always get special treatment before worlds and get buffs, right?
There already is diversity, and if thy want to nerf shen they should nerf the "problematic" part of him, that is his ultimate, to not make him 1 skill only champ. Why? Because these nerfs are for worlds, but they wont revert them, because shen aint one of those special riot stars like Lee Sin. IF it was only for one patch, i would say "Okay". But we know that its not only for once patch.

In this case, it's Shen's ultimate. They won't nerf the ultimate directly but they can hit him everywhere else until he won't be picked.

CoolKnightST1 votesTo be honnest, his rework was a big failure. It's like they did a rework but got bored and released it when it was only haf done.
I would like to see a second rework on him. Something that can better interact with his kit like rather than gaining a random shield. More like a shield that builds up in battle and can empower the effect on his next abilities. As far his Spirit Blade goes. He needs to have a lot more controle on this ability. Currently it's just a random pilar with verry little interaction and it doesn't really empower the strengths of his combo's.
Overal I think shen should be a champion that gains tankness over the cours of a fight. Right now I don't really have that feeling with him.
