PROJECT Ashe Ult
Don't you guys think the Project Ashe ult needs to be more bright, can barely see the ult?

Yeah and it looks exactly like Hawkshot too. I was running around last game and ran right into it because I thought it was just Hawkshot and then died
I tried spell-shielding the Hawkshot as sivir thinking it was the ult. [zombie-brand-facepalm] But on more serious note, the propellers of the hawkshot look like the wings (not the Fletch) of the arrow. During a fight, this is confusing, since the arrowhead can be hidden in a mess of particle effects. I like Zielmann's idea on the changing the intensity of the arrow, though balancing clarity in battle and for picks could be difficult. Too bright, you can't see it in a teamfight. Too dark, it can blend in with the river.
For starters they could make it so that it's not transparent.
As a beam of energy it would be hard to be completely opaque, but less transparent would be a lot better.
It's hard to see and harder to distinguish from her hawkshot, my adc was on low flashed it thinking it was her ult because we saw their jungler coming.
on low graphics i could hardly distinguish her ult and scout missile
same.
I think her animations are a little confusing. That ult is hard to notice for how important it is and it kind of looks like various other abilities. Also her E is way too attention-grabbing in my opinion.
Okay. I analyzed this even further and while I think it's an issue of high noise drowning out the particle, I found that my main issue I think is really in the rings that trail the arrow itself. The rings are actually grabbing my eyes more than the arrow itself (again lending to the arrow possibly needing more definition in general). Watching it over and over and over again, I feel like my mental picture of the location of the ult only updates when a ring starts trailing behind the arrow. Almost like a strobe effect.
This is the link I was watching over and over: https://youtu.be/dnqXhggpFUs?t=172
The rings need to either be significantly minimized, removed, or else set such that they don't slow down relative to the speed of the arrow itself. Since they're taking up most of my attention when making a quick glance, it means that what I first notice is not the front of the spell particle, and also isn't traveling at the same speed as the spell particle.
I honestly see nothing wrong with its visual. The brightest part of it is the tip portion and thats what catches my eye.
same, I think people arent used to it yet. If they made it overall brighter though I wouldnt mind.
Skins should be (and usually are) immediately recognizable in terms of who the champion is and what spells are what (in cases where there are new spell effects). Many skins have been released with new spell effects, textures, sounds, and even slight model changes and you don't see this degree of complaint over any of those. The champion and spells are generally still easily recognizable as what they are, even when things are moving quickly in a fight.
There shouldn't be an adjustment period needed to get used to a skin an opponent has. The skin and/or spell effects were poorly designed if this is the case.
Ashe is really meta right now and theres alot of calls for a nerf from the player base. So its very probable that alot of these are just knee-jerk responses from single game experiences. Also on the note of other skins always being perfectly clear on the first try, this is not true. Many skins were hotfixed for animation bugs, hit box issues or clarity. Ashe ult is actually pretty easy to spot, I think the biggest reason why so many may not recognize it initally is because unlike the other ashe ults, this one isnt a REALLY distinct rigid arrow.
It's alot more fluid with it's effects. The arrow is CLEARLY there but people arent used to seeing the swirling animation on her ult and are more accustomed to seeing something like that on her E. I dont think making the arrow portion of the ult a bit brighter would be wrong (kinda like a really bright triangular tipped beacon trailing in a fluid blue swirl), making it the still and stiff ult that resembles some of the other ones is in my opinion out of the question though, it could be tweaked for a bit more "it's obvious im a giant arrow coming at you factor", while still keeping it's fluid artistic nature. It's a really pretty ult.
First impressions are just that - how you feel the first time seeing something. So naturally the responses here are based on a reaction after a single game. But that's what's important. If it takes your opponent an adjustment period to get used to a skin, that's a direct advantage to the player using that skin.
I've been around since beta. I've seen a few skins come around where there were a few clarity issues. And yes, Riot has generally dealt with those. This is by far the worst offender in terms of spells that are not immediately recognizable that I've seen. And as such, this is also the largest outcry I've ever seen over something like this. The current status of Ashe is mostly irrelevant here. If anything, it only resulted in the complaints coming in much faster because people are seeing this skin a lot.
If it was that bad, the champ/skin would be disabled. The "outcry" is honestly just an echo chamber of a rather small group of players. I've noticed this complaint a total of two times in game and I myself have played as and against project ashe. It was weird on first cast but it's whatever afterwards. I dont think her popularity is irrelevant at all, especially considering that shes one of the most picked ADC's right now who's in a strong spot for obvious reasons.
First impressions arent an end all be all and not everything hits the mark on the first go around, nor is your first impression always accurate, it rarely ever is. What is true is that the ult is very different from what people are used to expecting from a popular champion, so the first time around it catches them off gaurd if they arent very observant to begin with. Again it's not a hidden ult, it's not an invisible ult, it's merely different in style so it's a bit harder to immediately recognize if you've never seen it before.
Which can also be remedied by looking at the previews of the champion skins which have been posted in client and on the site for days. You arent wrong but you arent totally right either, most people can and should trust Riot if even after "All this outcry" nothings been done or said yet. Riots usually very quick to very obvious detrimental bugs, etc.
It's not causing a gamebreaking bug or interaction (not another Dark Star Thresh incident), and the skin doesn't need disabled. I don't think anybody is asking for that.
It's an issue of spells and champions needing to be immediately identifiable in a split second when there's chaos. That's why they try to preserve relative size and silhouette for all skins of all champions. Regardless of skin they have, most any champion could enter your peripheral vision and they would be distinct enough that you'd know right away who it was.
Spells should work the same way, and they generally do. The projectile should be immediately recognizable as to what spell it is.
I think part of the issue in this particular case might also be the spell in question itself, and how big a deal it is. Being able to know immediately what is coming so you can sidestep or flash out of the way is critical. It can mean the difference in winning or losing a fight. If it were something more basic like an Ezreal Q being a bit less recognizable, it wouldn't be such a big deal.
If someone was to show me this visual flying across the rift Im sure I would have no problem saying it was Ashe ult. The only thing I would need to know (which would be the same for everyone) was if it was shot by a new champ or a champ that was reworked or had a new skin visual.
Ezes ult is wider and im sure if he got a project skin his visual would remain wider. Jinx ult i think would be close but im sure it would still resemble a rocket. Ashe ult is a ice arrow and this still looks like a ice arrow...at least to me.

Agreed. I shouldn't lose to the clarity of a skin. I should lose because of lack of good play.
Can you post a picture of it or something?
That ashe ult is so easy to see though.
I'ts right there
EDIT: Just click it.
A still shot doesn't do it justice. From a still of the particle, it actually does have a nice clean arrow outline to it. Trouble is, in game, when things are going by quickly, the main ult arrow visual gets lost in all the noise of the blue glow around it. It's not easy to gauge exactly what the hitbox is going to be and frankly, the first time you play against the skin, to distinguish what that even is that is heading towards you. To top it all off, the new animation that plays when it hits a target is also different enough from what you get on all the other skins that even after you get hit, that it leaves you wondering slightly what exactly just hit you.
I'm sure some of this fades with time when playing against the skin. I mostly adjusted to it a little over halfway through the game I just played (first time against the skin). Though there was one instance of flashing away from hawkshot cause that's a different particle too and I was so lacking in confidence that I could quickly distinguish an incoming ashe ult that I figured better safe than sorry.
But I do think that either the blue glow needs toned down a bit, or else the core arrow outline of the projectile needs stronger definition.
5/7 Best meme I have seen all day
It needs better definition and more saturation. The VFX are a bit blurry and the colors are shallow, so in situations with a lot going on it's difficult for the brain to process.
YES!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this! I was on pbe, and got ashe ulted, and was legit confused, as to what happened. Thought maybe it was just me, because everyone else in game, said it looks fine.
just adjust your monitor settings.
its completely blends in with environment and is impossible to react to
Looks like it's in the background, rather than the foreground. Hard to register in time
Yes please. Hard to see when a fight is going on.
I have the same problem with Project Ekko's W
It is VERY difficult to see coming, and it's not as easy to hear being launched either.
Yeah, I guess I could agree.
I thought it was her hawkshot a number of times in my first game facing her lol
I think its fine.
We'll its kinda easy to see but it could be brighter
So saying that u have got one of the new PROJECT skins do u know if the summoner Iccon boxes refund every day or if u can get chach fragments from normal heater boxes I really want PROJECT kat
I think what would help a lot is if it looked a bit more solid. It looks like a light particle (which makes sense considering the skin) but it's hard to judge what part is the actual shot.
I hit a few arrows last night that I didn't think hit because of it.
i always confuse it for her hawkshot lol
I recently played with a project Ashe, I was his/her support (That guy carried my ass like holy shit) but that's beside the point.
In that particular game, I did not pay attention to champ select for IRL reasons and when we entered the game, I seriously had to check in TAB who it was because I did not recognise her.
At some point, Ashe used her ult to engage the fight. I am not joking, no one realised it was her ult until the fight was over and we asked ourself "which part of Ashe kit is a stun" (Basicly what i'm saying his, her ult doesn't look like her Ult)
Since it was a god like adc. She used her ult across the map to kill the enemy mid laner 3 time. I'm pretty sure the guy his having nightmare about it right now because at some point, Ashe used her E mid lane and when it exploded, the enemy mid laner flashed thinking it was, yet again, her ult.
I'm pretty sure this skin just traumatised someone for life. That poor mid laner will now proceed to ban ashe every freaking damn time. (On a more serious note, I might start thinking about it because, as of now, it could easily be abused.)
Disclaimer: it's 3h am in the morning and I am native french.
It's worth noting that, outside of his VU / remake, Trundle has only received a single skin in four years.
I play league on low graphics, and ashe ult was almost impossible to see, even if nothing was going on. like all of a sudden i was stunned and me and 2 other teammembers could not see the ashe ult either. maybe just make it a brighter color or something, just like they did with underworld twisted fate's wild cards.
Not only is the new arrow visually confusing, the trailing rings and opacity are terrible, they changed the hit portion of it to be at the front of the arrow, Instead of at the fletchings like it is with the other ashe skins.
This really really really fucking pisses me off. You need consistency with visuals and hit placement on abilities should never EVER change between skins. The audio of the ult is also unrecognizable atm. Fuck.
I've been playing this game for forever and this has thrown me, I can't imagine how much harder it is for new players. Keep things consistent ffs.
Logged in to say that this skin is the worst thing that happened to lol in a while. I legit lost 2 games because of it.
yea i can never tell what it is, it looks like her auto attack
Don't you guys think the Project Ashe ult needs to be more bright, can barely see the ult?
I play Leage with decent to high graphics.
Project Ashe's ult doesn't just need to be brighter, it needs to be sharper with more distinctition, and include a completely different color palette. Last season we head this huge long discussion on clarity, and redesigned the map with a different palette to better distinguish the map. Especially with the fact that she uses a pale blue that often blends into the color of allied particles. The more riot makes champions and the more they make new skins the more we seemingly break this concept of visual clarity more and more. Let me just say, there isn't anything clear playing against project
This problem is 1,000,000 times worse playing against her on Howling Abyss. I went a whole match not being able to discern a single ult from her Hawkshot. I even took one from about 1 screen away not even seeing it show up. If that were any other Ashe skin, I could flash at that distance no problem.
I've never thought a skin could need a rework, but Project Ashe most definitely needs one. Her abilities catch more people off guard than a good Rengar.
Honesly, I hate to say it, this particle , if they want to keep the flare, needs a completely new color. I wouldn't mind if most of her particles were this passive blue, but that means her ult should be a bright big fin red projectile.
At the very least, they if they don't want to make a clear ultimate, they need to distinguish it from Hawkshot. Moreso, they need to do this for those placing on Howling Abyss. This skin is impossible to play against. I mean the entire map shares the same color so even the transparency of her abilities are almost undetectable sometimes.
