Kalista isn't that bad, its just that 97% of the community are meta slaves who don't actually try champions outside of the flavor of the month champion pool.
Well, also the fact that Kalista got gutted due to several changes due to her having a slightly overloaded kit and a frustrating-to-play-against style.
Its the fact that everyone just quit rather than adapt to the changes that im complaining about. People need to stop caring about what the top 10 koreans in the world do, and play the game theirselves.
Also that she's terrible in SoloQ and only good in coordinated play. In SoloQ she's still really, really bad.
she is pretty good if you have a frontline. Its just that this frontline needs to engage on the other team rather than protect kalista, mainly because the distraction the frontline creates is the opening kalista needs, then again this is probably why kalista fails in solo Q, she relies on the support having a brain.
Which is kinda what he said: "only good in coordinated play".
Her niche is kinda filled out by Vayne, but Vayne needs much more skill on the ADC's part, as well as some dependence on the team comp.
I agree that both are pretty similar, kalista being focused more on mobility while vayne more focused on tank killing. both do rely on their team comp as well. I wouldn't say vayne completely trumps out kalista in her niche though, vayne is more focused on tank melting while kalista is more focused on mobility. Both have their playstyle centered around attack speed, however kalista wants to focus on turning multiple targets into pin cushions while kiting around with hurricane, while vayne wants to focus on a single target at a time and melt them with bortk. I mean sure they both kind of share a similar niche, and arguably build, but their playstyles are much different.
I'm just saying that it is still possible to win on kalista, and I feel like the people downvoting me would know that if they actually played her. I honestly believe if more people actually put the time in to master kalista, her winrate would be much higher. The main problem is that most of this community are just meta sheep who will give up on a champ after one game because they don't feel like putting time in to actually get good at the champion.
However, I do acknowledge that some champs are just meant for 5v5 team play, and some champs are meant for solo Q. Kalista is definitely meant for team 5v5's, while vayne is more of a solo Q champ. However, it doesn't mean that a duo bot lane in ranked is hopeless. In fact, Id say kalista would be an excellent pick for a duo bot.
They both focus on kiting, through stealth and infinite dashes, and tank killing. Vayne does more damage, but is at much higher risk, and usually has a much weaker laning phase, though that depends on the supports and enemy ADCs. Kalista has more DPS but less burst, Vayne just ends up with really high burst, but once again, really high risk.
It's possible to win with anything(Yorick, Galio, Urgot, Mordekaiser, etc. ),but in certain metas, there are more optimal choices. Right now, for the current meta, Vayne is the optimal choice. She has also been getting buffs from Riot as of late too. Another similar comparison would be Varus and Ezreal. You want poke, but right now, almost everyone has a slow, be it through Iceborn Gauntlet, Frozen Mallet, or Rylais. Ezreal has that. Ezreal has his E too, providing him with more safety nets. Champs without any mobility do poorly in this meta, due to a lot more mobility and cc being tossed around(frequency of slows with aforementioned items). Giving up after one game of a champ isn't being a meta sheep; When I play a game with a champ the first time, I get a feel for their gameplay style. For me, Braum didn't fit my style of gameplay. I played one game with him, and stopped. If a champ's playstyle fits yours, you tend to do better with them. Kalista's unique playstyle is only for the diehards. You HAVE to master Kalista to do well with her. You HAVE to master Riven to do well with her. With things like Yasuo, Zed or Lee Sin, you can master them to do better, but even if you're new to them, you don't feel like a useless sack, because they have lower skill floors.
Riot Games: We saw Kalista in the LCS but we don't want here there and we want Zed instead so we're gonna nerf her and maaaaaaaaaaaaybe buff her back when the season ends. Kalista got a big power spike so we want to put her into a "healthy" position.
