[Discussion] What if Garen had Attack Speed scaling on his E like Jhin?

Note: This is separate from any changes that you feel that Garen would need.

I looked at Jhin's passive the other day, and I noticed that he had a pretty decent scaling with bonus attack speed. Now I'm wondering why Garen hasn't gotten scaling with Attack Speed yet. Garen can get bonus damage from his Q and E with critical strike chance, but he can't use Crit items that well due to having no synergy with Attack Speed when using the Zeal-completed Crit items.

Unlike Garen, Master Yi and Yasuo have synergy with the Zeal completed Crit items because not only do they make use of the crit, they have higher damage output with the attack speed due to their scaling with it. An Attack Speed scaling on his E could give Garen the ability to use Zeal-completed items better and achieve a more viable critical strike build. ** My question is this: Is there enough considerable merit for Garen to have an attack speed scaling on his E?**

I don't really think it has room so long as his E can crit. Perhaps as a replacement to the crit, but not alongside it. The crit doesn't take any of Garen's power budget at the moment, so having it alongside something like this might force them to add it in, which would make non-crit/attack speed Garen weaker without really making the gimmick build a whole lot stronger.

In my opinion it would put him in a really odd place that wouldn't be helpful to his current state. He has a decent niche as a juggernaut, and while it could use a bit of work I don't really think nudging him closer to being a pure fighter is a step in the right direction.

But like I said, perhaps it could work as a replacement to his E's crit.

garen gets nice scaling with AS because he has no steroid, they'd get rid of it if he did.

Even if you did he'd have to stop spinning to use it

Q already gives him an AA reset

garen doesn't need to be attacking faster, and on top of this he already has a true damage passive.

The only thing garen needs is a better alternative to item 3748 apart from item 3512 and item 3068 for autoattackless wave pushing so he can do glorious battle while splitpushing.

As I recall, they considered taking away the crit scaling on Garen's E during the Juggernaut rework, but decided it was enough of a off-build/non-factor to leave on his kit due to the community reaction.

In reality, neither crit nor attack speed scaling make sense for Garen's class (Juggernaut). Similarly, they most likely gave Jhin the scaling he has on his passive to incentivize Jhin to build the items they generally want marksmen to buy.

Master Yi and Yasuo are both designed to be champions where those types of items are more expected. Compared to Garen, they are more focused on dealing damage than soaking it and being disruptive.
