Popular champions are SUPPOSED to have low winrates...
..because of the newbies that decide to play them and do poorly.
If i see another Lee Sin defender say "Oh hes balanced because he has a 47% winrate" im gonna blow my brains out.

So 47% winrate isn't low?
And no, some champions have a shitton of mains or average games per player, such as Yasuo, Ahri and Riven all average around 200 games in plat+. Their winrates being ridiculously low isn't quote logical.
Average win rate is dependent on the average experience of those playing them. This means you could drop Lee Sin's pick rate down to 1% and end up with the same win rate of ~47% as long as the average experienced stay the same. You will find some low pick rate champions with sub 50% win rates that aren't weak simply because of the average experience is low.
Yeah all those newbies in Plat+. That's a great point. All those new players in Plat dragging his win rate down. Lee's only been popular for how many years now? You're right. Nobody knows how to play him. Yup. Awesome logic.
Another garbage Lee Sin shitpost. That makes it #426799654332288
This circlejerk of "popularity should lower winrate" has to die. It has never been true. People initially started saying it because the idea was that a champion who became newly popular should have a lower winrate because there would be a bunch of inexperienced players on that champion. It is not to apply to champions who have been popular, because they aren't going to have that same high percentage of inexperienced players.
For someone like Lee Sin, his popularity (and therefore playerbase) has been high for a very long time. Those players are experienced with him now. In fact, if you actually look at the average games on the champion that Lee Sin players have, it's incredibly high. He has a more experienced average playerbase than most champions, so if anything, we'd expect his winrate to be artificially high.
This circlejerk of "popularity should lower winrate"
But.. that's no criclejerk - it's true.
Want a proof - look at winrates when ever Riot throws out slight buffs to Champions. Pickrate is rising, Winrate is falling.
That's how it works.
That's for sudden changes in pick rate though. For champs like lee and yasuo, they consistently have high pick rates, implying that a lot of the players are playing them, and getting experienced with them
I already addressed that. Sudden raises in pickrates bring in inexperienced players, which we can see by looking at changes in the average games players of that champion have on them. However, if a champion has a high pickrate that is unchanging, there is nothing bringing in new players. They just keep a highly experienced playerbase. That means that there is no reason at all for them to have a deflated winrate.
