Yasuo is already incredibly toxic to fight as a Mage and he does NOT need more magic resist.

koshkyra··177 votes·5,714 views

He already hard counters mages with an ability to deny all their burst. He does not need to be buffed towards them.

Edit: just to bring a little clarity to my point, im not talking about ONLY his windwall to a mage. His entire kit is incredibly toxic. He can clear early waves in about 8-10 seconds (which is way faster than anyone else) which will force the wave under tower, and a mage is gaurunteed to lose a lot of cs. He can use his E to dodge all their skillshots (most mages rely on them) and if he slips up once? "Face the Wind!".

I don't know about playing against him, but he is satisfying to ban.

no he doesn't, otherwise he'd be meta mid and not top.

also they nerfed his shield and it's weaker until level 10

GGLineaR14 votes

Well, his shield is the least annoying thing about him, to be frank.

His wind wall is what actually makes laning against him as a mage a pain in the ass.

Also, I don't actually think he's "meta" at all. And even if he was, it makes no sense to play him top. Unless you intend to block Garen's q with that windwall. kappa.

EROTIC RAID BOSS7 votes

hes better top rn, hence the changes. because he can slide around out of melee range after poking you

HaIlMonitor3 votes

His shield is dumb. They should just make him scale like a normal champs and delete it his shield.

The JigSAW4 votes

He still has the only shield in the game that regenerates during damage. At least make it out of combat, but no.. that's on top of the shield, the double crit, the 50% bonus armor pen on ult for 15 seconds, and so on.

Faceroll Tactics5 votes

Rakan shield regens during damage.

AHeroNamedHawke18 votes

Gameplay has been squealing for years to have Yasuo's shield lowered, and as expected they increased his base stats to compensate

This is what you deserve

KitSun916 votes

I can second that, I suck as Yasuo, but laning vs this Lux all I had to do was spam E anytime she used an ability and windwall the others and then I denied her pretty much all the cs in lane.

panexin2 votes

Logged in just to upvote and comment. Bless you

In addition to all that you said, Lux's cooldowns are so high early that even getting an ability past his windwall, and managing to hit him, means his passive shield is probably up anyways from when you poked him (preparing him to use his wall).

Also, I am within the tribe of people that says Yasuo's windwall blocks Lux's ENTIRE kit. You try hitting a laser on a hyper-mobile champion (who you can't root with a skill shot) whose movement is gated by the number of stars in the sky.

The lane isn't impossible, because Lux is my girl and I know her inside and out. But it's absolutely no fun and WAY tougher than most any other.

Doesn't he just lose lane to all the meta mids?

Enlegacy5 votes

If they know how to bait his windwall, yeah. Well that might change because a bunch of meta mages got nerfed and a bunch of lower tier ones got buffed, but most right now do fine against him

DeadUnborn13 votes

that is the lamest argument "bait his wind wall". If a competent Yasuo plays against a competent mage, yasuo is going to use his wind wall reactionarily, which counter the mages damage and pushes the lane in Yasuo's favor, further draining the mages resourcess

Say you play Viktor, since that's what I know best. Walk up and AA him once to remove the shield, then Q him and he's either forced to take the damage or use windwall. Congrats, you either traded an 8 second cooldown with a 26 second one and now you can attack freely or you got off free damage on him. You obviously don't use your full combo, unless you're an idiot. And I thought the boards established that mages never run out of mana because mana gating isn't a thing anymore, so what are those resources you're talking about?

Because half the boards are mage haters and not very smart.

Mages are still gated by mana early game to an extent. They are better once they acquire 900g to get Lost Chapter. However, until their first back, they are still restricted heavily and has to manage their mana pool. Yasuo is resourceless and has the upper hand. If you choose to early back, then the Yasuo will push under tower and acquire an even greater lead on you.

Good luck poking a Yasuo though. He can simply back off and gain the shield again, while poking at the minions for health regen with D.Blade. Meanwhile, until you get your Lost Chapter, you are slowly losing advantage. Even then, once you get a Lost Chapter to offset your mana issues, Yasuo got a damage component to make him deal more damage, while you are still behind.

Nothing about Yasuo's early game makes him struggle hard (unlike a lot of assassins). On top of that, once he gets a PD, he spikes in power like an assassin and doesn't fall off.

If Yasuo was so strong then why do statistics and the changes on PBE completely nullify your entire argument?

  1. Riot likes to change up the meta by forcing what they want to see/not see with buffs/nerfs
  2. Riot favoritism (see: Lee Sin, Yasuo who could have been old Eve'd)
  3. Statistics doesn't mean everything (see: Support WR, better nerf them)

This nullfies your entire argument.

  1. & 2) is true with Lee Sin only where's his been pick/ban in every elo, including challenger and LCK/LCS, None of these things ever happened to Yasuo.

  2. Statistics still mean ALOT

DeadUnborn3 votes

You are looking at overall win rates. Why would you do that when we are discussing laning phase? Yasuo falls off late game in mid lane because he compromises the team's damage distribution and wave clear. However if you look at LANE win rates Yasuo stomps on most mages, which is really frustrating to play against

1/2) The fact that they removed his E nerf from the PBE says a lot. He is also sitting at a 50% wr, so he doesn't even need the buffs.

  1. Yet, Azir and Kalista are sitting at a terrible wr because their kit is broken. If stats mean so much, Riot should buff them.

You have literally no idea how a competent yasuo plays.

SweedishGunner3 votes

You mention Viktor then say mages never run out of mana, when Viktor is one of the few mages that doesn't buy a mana item with mana regen on it since his Hex Core gives him mana. Viktor is one of the mages who still has to conserve mana early.

Also Yasuo has to block the 1st cast of Q since he can't stop the empowered AA. It's probably better for Yas to block Viktor's E.

Euthenaasia3 votes

Mages run out of mana.

DeadUnborn7 votes

Alternatively, as soon as you close into proc yasuo's shield with your auto, he dashes onto you, deals more damage than you can while negating some of it with W, and then backs of to recharge his shield. And no, since Doran's rings don't stack of any more, early game mages do lose a lot of mana until they are able to get their lost chapter, which doesn't give them the combat stats they need to fight yasuo

DunkinNoobs18 votes

He does if those meta mids use their right mouse click on him and don't waste CD's when he's in threat range.

ModAcademy Kayn9 votes

He's actually at 48% winrate mid according to Lolayltics, and a 50% top, so if anything, and with the early game shield nerf, it seems to be a good for both.

SlampieceHawke9 votes

Anyone defending his windwall is delusional. It's not just toxic to mages, it's toxic to literally anybody. It gives a middle finger to almost every champions abilities, makes dravens spinning axes just flat out disappear into the void, stops whole gamechanging ultimates, and the wall fricken lingers there for a few seconds. Quite arguably a stronger disengage than Karma mantra E and even janna ulti if you use it right.

Biggest cuck ability I've ever seen outside of Kindred ult ( who is garbage anyways so who cares) and Braum shield ( Braum is justified because his role is to disengage/engage/peel)

Yasuo has enough mobility on his own dashing through minions and champs and monster camps to disengage/flee/dodge. This champions kit is so overloaded and stupid it is no wonder yas mains are grouped in with riven mains when it comes to toxicity.

Go watch a clip of Yassuo, this kid has his mouth and eyes wide open whenever he get's outplayed as if he's in shock because he thinks he should be dominating no matter what the circumstance while playing weeblord god champion. It's actually one of my favorite things to watch when i'm viewing youtube clips. His despair and shellshock is the greatest thing to see since game of thrones.

If they want to make him the anti-mage then by all means go ahead. At least his bonus mr won't help him against ad champions.

Darius literally doesn't allow most melee laners to play during laning phase yet I don't see that many people complain about him.

Dream High5 votes

Darius is a meele hyper scaling adc. Outside of laning darius is kited easily, he does nowhere near as well as Yasuo in teamfights.

DuskDaUmbreon4 votes

You can't kite Darius as melee, and he's so much more durable than Yasuo that, yes, he can do better than him in team fights.

GorillazNtheMyst7 votes

I'm sorry, this hyper mobility champ with utility and damage at all points in the game, with two shields, two passives, and an AOE ult that he basically just presses R to use, oh and hard CC and wave clear, is TOXIC by nature. A buff to his safety is definitely NOT what Yasuo needed. And I question the logic that you just need to know how to deal with him. Yas is a champ that can be 0/5 and then randomly roam midgame and pull a triple kill out of his behind just because his kit allows him to do that extremely easily. From there it's not hard for that same Yasuo to snowball himself back into relevance, and I think that Yasuo is a champ that has uses even when from behind, just through his chaotic playstyle, CC, and general ridiculous damage. Again, not sure why this guy needed any buffing at all. If anything, I'd love to see the unfair double passive nerfed into oblivion.

Snowplosion6 votes

I'm now curious how much that little amount of mr can make a difference.

Leetri7 votes

Unless I'm doing my math wrong, at lv 18 instead of taking 72% magic damage he takes 64%.

Dream High6 votes

A lot. A fair amount for mages since they don't dps they do their damage in rotations so an extra rotation of spells.

Exactly. And i coulds SWORE the "intended weakness" for yas was his "vulnerability t o magic damage"

The JigSAW6 votes

There's legitimately so much wrong with this champion it isn't even funny and how it goes from reworking him somewhat to buffing his resistances now? Are you joking?

The only thing that needs to happen is for his E to be on a fixed cooldown of about 3 seconds if he does -not- kill the unit he passes through to prevent his early game from being near untouchable. The rest of his crap I can deal with but its that wave clear that helps so much, and then even if he does go 0-6 in lane he'll come back and carry because all he needs is Phantom Dancer and a cloak of agility for 100% crit and that's the end of it. His cooldowns have to be looked at.

Nyarlathοtep5 votes

I dont know about you but this buff will hardly bother me as a mage player. I mean he is permabanned by me. :D

KindredAndWolf5 votes

I used to only play mages mid back in the day before yasuo came out and I really enjoyed it. Yasuo was released and was 100% pick or ban so I played against him a lot. This is no exaggeration, yasuo by himself defeated me so hard, took away my fun SO HARD I haven't went mid or touched a mage since. He was just too much for the mages I played

Dream High3 votes

Increased MR and ult range. The silvers in the balance team once again proving they haven't got a clue. Honestly just going to permaban him.
