When you say "ggez", you're are legitimately being an A-hole.

koshkyra··251 votes·7,961 views

Edit: It was recently made clear to me that the title says "you're are". That's autocorrect for you. Ignore it.

"Gg" means "good game". By that, you're saying that everyone played well and it was a good match.

"Ez" means "easy". By that, you're implying that you stomped them, they did terribly, and it was easy for you to win the match because of how terrible they did.

"You did well" and "you did horribly" aren't the same thing at all.

So when you say "ggez" you're saying:

"Good game, everyone played well! SIKE! Y'all are horrible and I stomped your asses."

So pick one, gg, or ez, because whenever you say "ggez" you're just being a smug bastard.

Why does everyone get angry at me saying "Good Game" to the Ezreal?

Seriously though it is a douchey thing to do. People complain about the community then say GGEZ in their games. It really needs to be toned down.

that's why i like doin it though

Thankfully saying GGez at the end of games has become a reportable offense :D

BladeSteel4 votes

But not a bannable XD

Rewt11 votes

It can give a chat restriction that actually stops you from being Eligible for Chest rewards

BladeSteel3 votes

not if it is the only thing you say

Rewt11 votes

it is. If you do it a bunch. if you do it 5 games in a row and you get reported 5 games in a row there is a pretty good chance you will get the restriction

BladeSteel3 votes

i've done it in 80% of my games win or lose. Never had a chat restriction or anything like that.

Limmie6 votes

Just because it's reportable doesn't mean people report it. You've been just lucky that you either played with people who don't care or don't know that they can report you for that.

BladeSteel1 votes

show me one riot comment where they say you can be banned for it. all they have said on the topic is that it is reportable, but you have to do a lot more than just say "ggez" to be punished.

Limmie4 votes

Anything that is reportable is by definition punishable, the only variables are how much they weight in the scale. If you are under review a report for gg ez might be what tips the scale, which means you were punished for it. Also Riot has often made statements suggesting they take into account how often a behavior leads to a report.

There's no greater joy than getting people's accounts banned, especially when they've spent hundreds of dollars or more on them though.

You're strictly little league compared to my level of salt-basking tbh. You say ggez to make people butthurt in post champ select. I say nothing most of the game but am constantly on the lookout for the most minor of infractions, and will report anyone who commits any, on my team or not. And my dick breaks my desk in half whenever I get that little message from Rito that I got someone punished.

Look upon my works and despair.

i only say gg ez into certain match-ups Jayce or if there's someone who's been trying to pop off with mastery flashing. and even then i usually talk with them in post-game if they stay, and wish them a good day/better luck next game/what have you. sometimes i give them advice on how to fight w/e champion I play as. i could not make it more clear that i talk shit just for the sake of talking shit (because it's fun, and I encourage anyone who meets me in game to talk shit to me) and I don't ever make personal insults or death wishes, no slurs.

banter is fun; that's probably why I get more enjoyment out of the game than most of the people who post here. bet I'm more positive in game than most of you, too, which is why I've been making an honest effort to only make constructive threads and cut back on shitposting for the sake of the board's quality. meanwhile there's a new "le why isnt X nerfed yet" thread every day

You didn't need to justify yourself to me lad. I wasn't condemning your actions, though judging by my upvotes most people likely took it that way. I was dead serious. I report people for anything I think could get them in trouble because I enjoy getting their accounts banned. I'm next-level toxicitiy. Transtoxic, if you will.

Saying "gg" is the equivalent of high-fiving after a little league baseball game. It's good sportsmanship. Saying "ez" just makes you the the little shit that pulls his hand away.

BananaSlayerAMO12 votes

They're already a douche when they tell their opponents the game was an easy win.

The Whamboozler11 votes

OP, you are 100% correct. You are also wasting your time. The people who say it know damned well that it's a smug insult. That's why they're saying it. Because they want to be assholes and boast about winning (deserved or not) and "ggez" is quicker to type then "Ha ha, you guys suck and I rule.". Point is, they are saying it to insult and upset you... and they did.

Grats. The trolls beat you.

DeathBot6667 votes

I don't see why people complain about saying GGEZ. As an active AP EZ mid player I don't see why people get so upset about it. I see it especially when I have a bad game, which just reminds me of how nice this community is telling me that I still tried even though I didn't do so good.

especially when the 5/12 player on their team says it. @ all these comments, saying triggered doesn't make you funny.

Why does everyone get so frustrated and annoyed so easily? Grow a thick skin, why must you insist on punishing everyone else because you can't handle a few letters that are typed?

Ironically saying it is fine. You're joking and they get that.

Saying "y'all are terrible and I won easily" is just being smug.

Fegone3 votes

So what if you're Jinx and your lane opponent was Ezreal And he wins the game and you want to congratulate him after the game.

You say GGEZ to do so.

PlsCheckThisBush3 votes

The best time to do it is when the entire game the enemy team is spamming "??? REKT NOOB GG EZ %%% U SUK UNINSTALL EZEZEZEZEZ". Then (after winning) a simple "ggez" is enough to laugh and get your point across to them. Proceed to watch them fill up post game lobby with 10,000+ excuses and reasons why you're a PoS to help your case out when reporting them. People's true colors tend to shine when faced with complete anonymity: I'm in my mid-20's and have friends that act FAR younger than their age in this game and are on their 3rd-10th+ account. It's rather sad.

Oh, and as said before, going 0-17-0 as Vayne and saying "ggez" after losing is also very satisfying and being self-aware to making fun of yourself. It's a game, have fun with it - but not at the expense of others emotions. I'm more than happy losing to an enemy Urgot that fails a level 3 tower dive and says "BEST URGOT NA." It makes the game a bit more enjoyable.

Valor Bot2 votes

While on the topic, I never really understood why winning teams often say "GG!" in all chat. If everyone played well, including the losing team, then why did they lose? If they had actually played well, it follows then that they would have won.

Beacon 0F Light39 votes

You realize people can play well and still lose, right? Have you never had a close game that was enjoyable because it was challenging?

I say GG after any game that wasn't a stomp.

Troll for Trump6 votes

It does happen, but most of the game where gg is said aren't these close games.

Close games in general happen less and less.

What usually happens is this:

1-2 people do badly (tilted, poor player from bad matchmaking, autofilled, DC'd, bad game, etc)

The people that face those "bad players" in-lane snowball

The ones that snowballed say "gg"

Anidan16 votes

Regardless it's supposed to be similar to a handshake at the end of a match. Whether you did well or poorly you're supposed to shake their hands, and then accept responsibility for the loss and work to make more future matches into a win.

That's what it's supposed to be, at least. Not so much the case in practice, though, unfortunately. Turns out, when you give some people anonymity their sense of sportsmanship goes away along with their identity.

Oakleaf Ranger1 votes

well here's the real question then, are people nice because they want too be or because society expects us to be to nice/sportsmanlike?

Anidan4 votes

Ooh, sociology. Now that one's a harder question to answer because I feel like that one will most often depend on your personal philosophy on the nature of man, with philosophers and studies taken up to defend your stance. The addition of anonymity can be seen as a break from society and thus can be how they truly are, or they can take that as opportunity to be something they're not, depending on how you want to look at it.

Oakleaf Ranger3 votes

I think most people are generally crude at their core. Tolerant to those they get to know and friendly+ if compatible. I think those who are genuinely nice are in the minority at the very least. How long it takes for these phases to occur/pass depend on how compatible the two people. That's just my take on it anyway. I for one am not someone who is nice at heart but I'm at least polite as I believe in treating others as you wish to be treated. Depending on how true nature vs nurture is though, I'm sure I would have been considered a war criminal or of something similar had I been born in a different time period or area. Had I been given the opportunity.
