Katarina reset timer - Liandry's Torment semi-viable?
I've never built Liandry's Torment on Katarina. The person who got me started in LoL was a Kat main, and she explained to me before I ever tried Kat that Haunting Guise was just a way to get some early/cheap MPen and HP. Since the Liandry DoT is only effective damage at high target HP, it's veritably useless to a champ whose targets are, ideally, close to death.
Well, Kat's just had her resets nerfed with a timer.
VORACIOUS REDUCTION
Scoring a kill or assist will reduce the cooldown of Katarina's abilities⇒ Whenever an enemy champion dies within 3 seconds of Katarina dealing damage to them, her cooldowns will be reduced by 15 seconds
Pre-nerf, the timer was the full assist window of 10 seconds. Finishing a Liandry's Torment would now effectively double the current reset window to 6 seconds, roughly halving the nerf. The damage amount is irrelevant (and you'll never kill someone with it), but if you're relying on people to die to reset your abilities, that could be huge. Ignite lasts longer, but you can't hit everyone with that.
I still won't be rushing Liandry's Torment, but I'm no longer considering it a "completely useless" item. Sure, it's a crutch, but for someone used to full assist timers for resets, it might be a lifesaver.
