Honestly they seem weak considering you get about 360 gold 20 mins in the game from it... cant even afford a item 1052 yet

They used to be taken most of the time one supports but now it's better to have 600g in stat values at the start of the game than 1200 gold at the 50 minute mark.

I think it was when support income items got introduced or the ward trinket change that people stopped using them.

I used them on karthus back in season 3 or 4 when there were no support items but other gold per second items. It was fun back then, but they are just useless compared to every meta rune.
