This Vlad update looks lackluster

I remember one of the ritoer talked about what they didnt like about vlad's kit and is gonna change in the update. they said the main unhealthy issue with vlad's kit is his Q(point and click ranged unavoidable dmg and heal) and his E(auto target aoe waveclear).

His new E looks...decent. it act as ashe w now so it has more counterplay.

But his Q is nearly unchanged. still ranged point and click unavoidable dmg, the only difference is having ANOTHER 3-hit style where after 2 cast third q does extra dmg. The mechanic is literally unchanged, you click on this guy and u do dmg while healing urself. when do you use it? whenever u can. This is literally current vlad's exact same play style and the community is calinng him cancer for it.

I was hoping they would make the Q an ability over time like a tether, out of range it stops, slowly damage them and heal you, get a larger bit of health for killing the unit, i thought it was reasonable

It's roughly the same kit, but he has a weaker laning phase now. He already loses to a lot of top lane matchups, the lack of reliable wave clear will hurt him against the rest. Combined with a more strict dependence on AP, over CDR is also something that people should be happy about.

Just accept that the changes will hurt Vladimir, and take what you can get. Honestly, it could've been worse. And I'm fine with nerfs, if it means Vladimir doesn't become FotM for a time.

I dont play vlad much, maybe once a blue moon. but feels sad to see a terrible rework turning a champ into potentially yorick state.

Honestly, I prefer this over what Brand appears to be. Just flat buffs that will most likely turn him FotM for awhile. I'll just have to find out a new optimal build, and work to the strengths.

His E implies that you should be able to pay up to 10%, if they make it an option I would be happy. If they made it penetrate minions, I'd also be happy with that.

  • This is without seeing what the new numbers are, or playing the champion. Theorycrafting is fun -

Can't build enough HP for E not to be a huge nerf (even if you could, you can't sustain it). Can't build enough AP for Q not to be a huge nerf (even if you could, E would feel terrible).

Passive nerfed. Ult nerfed.

No longer has WotA as a crutch. Is probably going to buy Gunblade because he can't function with the new kit's absurd situational expectations.

This guy was already absurdly weak before.

Who wants to bet this is the first sub 40% win-rate release on champion.gg?

I think the underwhelming feedback in pbe should make it change before it comes to life

Everyone on PBE is saying 'it feels great!' when they're getting EQ gold (There's an equalize gold function if you didn't already know) most likely...

PBE players aren't exactly known for having accurate feedback. Most of them probably let Vlad spam Q without retaliating, which is the only reason he feels 'good'.

Its his scaling and powercurve throughout the game that worries me.

I'm willing to bet if they gave Vlad his old kit with just the new Q MS mechanic (without the significant Q nerfs tho), people would still say he feels great, even though he'd still be in a really bad spot.

In anything Gold+, I'm almost certain his kit simply will not function unless its highly over-tuned at any given time.

Release Poppy rework had a <40% winrate (I believe about 37 at one point), got up to low 40s, and was nerfed to all hell, and now she's dropping steadily.

Release poppy also didn't have an entirely clear build, and people didn't know how to play her. His win-rate was low due to players, not state of the champion.

Vlad doesn't take much mechanical knowledge, and is also ranged, buffering his winrate, yet I'm still confident it'll start pretty low.

I feel like this update pretty much killed vlad as a viable champ in the current meta. So currently, if you didnt get WotA, you were kind of heavily gimped in lane, because Q does not give enough sustain alone even against the most basic poke champs. While his E had travel time, it was a lot more responsive; the new E appears to be a strange wind up cast time to be effective, so you wont be really wave clearing with it, and catching enemies with it is gonna be harder. Also since it no longer has a passive, it means your gonna be really hurting on the life steal. Also now with both E and W sucking down huge amounts of HP, his lane survivability declines significantly. His ult now has a healing mechanic, but it only works if you survive and after the spell ends. So its a really delayed life steal. Also, looking at most of the item updates, none of them really benefit vlad now. So essentially, rather than being a sustain mage that could decently split push, they really just attempted to shoe horn him into a kind of dmg support mage with low survivability due to his skills now taking the mickey out of his HP pool. CDR may negatively impact Vlad now. Sure you can cast things faster, but it means you can spamotard your other skills more often, and Q alone does not seem sufficient enough to keep yourself up. Especially since you are using your own damn HP pool to deal dmg. Sucks, cause I like playing vlad in certain match ups. He had a point at top lane. Now I feel like hes gonna be a lackluster useless mess.

Vlad is my fav champ in league and he is the next Yorick

Brycerras1 votes

I just realized its even worse. His E can be blocked by front liners. So before it would hit the closest things to him. Now front liners can just stand in the way of it and protect backliners

yeah 10% of your health to damage the tank and no one else....

Vladimir is healing for a decent bit, but PBE feedback isn't good overall. From experience, Vlad isn't just suffering in PBE though.
