Guys, can we talk about Sona for a bit?
Pressing Q and auto-ing should NOT be Sona's playstyle in lane. This is both from a balance perspective and a thematic perspective.
Balance: Together, her Q and powerchord auto attack deals A LOT of poke damage in lane. Considring that her Q will auto target and prioritize any champions in range and her auto attack is...well...an autoattack this leads to a couple of different out comes. 1.) The enemy has to back off completely of risk being poked down and getting killed. 2.) The team has to plant a ward in brushes early game, which leads to them being more likely to be ganked by the jungler, results in them STILL having to back off/not push as hard. 3.) Trying to punish Sona every time she pokes, which means more attention is drawn to her instead of her ADC, which is supposed to be the real threat. Sona will sit in back for a build and heal herself and if you dont have heals on your team your kinda screwed.
Thematic: Look at Sona. Look at Sona's lore. Sona is supposed to be a NICE person, an orphaned child with orgins in Demacia. Instead of a sword, or axe, or a wand/staff, she wields a musical instrument. I could not see a better example of the classic healer or bard from DND games. And yet her laning phase is "sit in brush and press Q when enemy walks nearby, if powerchord is up, autoattack". This is very....backwards and kinda stupid.
Proposed changes: Every time I try to bring this up I get bombarded with people saying "yeah she brings lots of damage but she sucks at everything else, she has a crappy heal, crappy MS buff, etc". To which I reply "Yeah, but doesn't like, every ADC do the exact same thing? Do a lot of damage with little to no utility?"
So lets GIVE her that utility and take away the ludicrous damage. Lets make her heal a viable heal, lets make her MS buff do something. Let her sit in back row but don't let her just poke at the enemy for free. Or hell, instead of an aura, make her Q a skill shot ability that can hit only ONE champion, instead of two.
Fixed your Sona problem, now move along...
