why do people who say "we need tanks"
always end up doing the least amount of damage on the team and never have items like lord dominik or void staff.

Because every team needs a front line that can engage without blowing up immediately or that can stand on top of the carrying squishy so they don't blow up. There are ways to play without a tank, but that's a comp that can be hard to pull off in solo q cuz everyone needs to be on the same page.
Yeah a lot of times it's some crap ADC who can't ADC well but you get tanks and then he doesn't do any damage. FeelsBad.
Because there's more to the game than just blind DPS?
When an ADC asks for a tank, its because of a low peel team comp pre tank. Normally, most tanks are equipped with a kit that can allow some solid peel for any carry. So when an adc asks for a tank, all they are looking for is peel. Also never compare teammates based off of how much damage they do than to how much they help the team with objectives and team fights. You dont need a lot of damage to be a big influence in a fight.
Probably because a nice balanced team is the easiest way to suceed. Doesn't mean it's the only way. People just like the easiest way to do things.
Because often adcs and mids say this, infact it's a bit hard for an adc or a mage doing a good tf without tanks
what i love is when i adc and i get a support like 
vs a 
and they stand at turret or behind me and are afraid to zone vs a and make his job easier to get to me and blame me for getting hooked. its like no shit can you kinda be the tank youre suppose to be and just maybe zone him. i get it i should be able to dodge the hook alone but for trying to manage position in lane, the wave, and trades with the other adc i need just a lil help im not a pro.... 2ndly when i support vs a blitz i will stand between the adc and so if he goes to hook he has to hook me as 
and i have played it enough as a support main im very adapt at playing 
vs blitz but those are my 4 mains as support.
every team comp need a frontline or a tank who can engage a fight and peel for your adc as adc are squishy.Its not necessary that tank should have a lot of dps their main aim is to make the carries safe
