Is nami mid viable now or something

Ive seen multiple nami mids recently (all of them on my team ofc) and, despite always losing the game they seem pretty confident with their matchups. Can someone enlighten me on this, cause im confused, it always does poorly.

It's not viable.

I had a string of Soraka top/mids, all got shit on. I wish they'd play something that actually works, like Karma, but w.e

I thought we were talking about Nami, not Soraka.

I was replying to the concept of taking a support pick mid, not the champion specifically. Also why I brought up Karma, who isn't Nami either.

Never seen that, but Im gonna gues that some popular streamer did it for lols and they are copying.

I don't see how it could work. She doesn't have much in the way of wave clearing tools in her abilities. I feel like most conventional mids would be able to pretty reliably push them in and roam, if not kill her squishy fish self directly.

The thing about clearing waves is you either rush a nashor's or a protobelt. I don't think Nami mid is GREAT but I think it can work. I would try to do an E max with a nashor's but if they have really good waveclear maybe rush a protobelt.

You could probably play her top and get away with it because of her ult and CC(You'd only really use your ult to either keep someone from escaping or to get away yourself so it could be really nice to be able to hold on to that for yourself) and not to mention most top laners can't push super hard.
