Is there any legitimate reason why Thresh is allowed to be a messiah tank support since his release?

Nothing but love taps have been applied to this champion

He is contendable, of course but for the love of god, I see the reasons why so many supports in the past get so much nerfing, it really pisses me off that Thresh is immune to it

Hey Sona is too all round of a support, she heals/deals dps/speeds up ect. (but lets leave out the fact she has no low/mid cooldown CC) meanwhile we have Thresh who is the all round tanky support ( good stats, good damage, amazing cc, amazing early laning, SCALING, crazy initiation, good mobility)

Janna has too much peeling potential, meanwhile a very good Thresh can make it flat out impossible for anyone to touch the enemy ADC

Sustain supports have too much sustain, item 3302 seriously, fuck this item and it's intense synergy with Thresh even though he is ranged, there is no reason why he should be able to effortlessly proc it

Thresh has dominated for too long, he is too damn strong in the right hands and I will admit that he gets a lot worse the lower rank you go, but seriously something needs to be done about him, he's been the prime support since his damn release, meanwhile whenever any other support gets stats like he does, they can expect a nerf in less then a month because "MUH OPPRESSION!"

Basically, he hasn't been, and you're horrifically biased against a pretty balanced support.

Tell me a time period where Thresh wasn't an amazing support?

Thresh is a really good support and the only thing that allows him to be just that is his kit. Early game he can zone with his 450 range (second lowest of ranged champs only to low level Gnar and Urgot), his high cooldown hook, tiny displacement+slow, and shield. He has MANY flaws, like lack of escape, early game risk, no damage late game, that balance out his strengths. In that sense, he is one of the most balanced champs in the game.

Can you explain why Thresh is balanced compared to the rest of the support pool that has much less of a following than he does? Or link me to someone who can? Cause every person who disagrees with a "Thresh is OP" saying he's balanced doesn't explain why, they just say he is. I'd like to open my brain up to the fact that I'm wrong, but no one has really said anything but "But he's fine."

I mean, I can get higher playrates because of fun factor, cause he is fun, but there's a problem in my eyes when he overshadows a LOT of other picks by a large margin.

Not trying to argue, want to learn.

I looked on google to try to find an answer to this. Basically, "muh counterplay" and "it's not that thresh is godlike, it's that all other supports suck".

Thresh, among others like Irelia or Gnar, is the definition of overloaded. Hes like Super Mario on steroids, good at everything, but not the best at everything. How can you say hes "balanced" lel?
