Support is a demanding role that requires skill

I laugh every time I hear this. Because when you compare support to any other roles, they have the **least ** to worry about.

  1. They don't have to fight for every last cs
  2. They don't have scan the map because that's not their job
  3. They don't have to make decisions in team fights when they're standing behind the ADC or tank.
  4. They're allowed to die a lot because most supports don't get kills anyways
  5. Their only job is keeping everyone alive, something that's quite frankly (despite what people say), not hard to do.

U are generalizing supports.

  1. They need to pressure lane opponent to prevent them from getting every CS
  2. Not sure what u mean by this
  3. They do if they are initiating supports like Thresh, Nautilus, Braum, Leona, Alistar
  4. They SHOULDN'T die a lot. This is a common misconception that support should die a lot. There is reason why supports should NEVER go alone to ward. In theory support SHOULDNT take KILLS, but they SHOULDNT die at all.
  5. Again, not every support is Soraka. Some team comps rely heavily on supports actions. Especially those with Blitz, Thresh, Leona...

Now while some supports dont have high skill requirements like Soraka, Sona, remember there are supports with immense, almost infinite skillcap like Thresh, Bard and now Rakan. Every role is like this. While you could argue that mid requires a lot of skill, there are champs like Annie that dont have high skillcap. For comparison its harder to play Thresh bot than to play Annie mid. Same way if u would compare Janna and Azir, Azir takes infinitely more skill to play.

The role whose job is to establish map vision does not scan the map

troll post / 10 [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

He's bronze so there's a chance he's actually not trolling. Since they usually don't even know what wards are.

No, no, he's trolling. Look at his post history. I can't believe humanity could be so stupid. Definitely a troll.

  1. Yes they do, in fact they are fighting for someone else's cs, not even their own. A support that's effective at zoning the enemy adc from their cs is doing work.

  2. Yes they do, it's probably more their job than others', other than the jungler. A good support minds the dragon area, helps to secure vision for early dragons.

  3. Yes they do. Literally every champion has decisions to make in a teamfight, and the biggest decision that literally every Champion has is target selection. It just so happens that a Lulu or Zilean has to decide when and who to ult, shield, etc. And you are ignoring initiation supports like Alistar, Thresh, or even Malzahar who can lock down and catch out enemies. They have a lot of control over fights, more than ADCs half the time because of their CC and utility

  4. They don't "die a lot". When a support willingly gives up their life, it's hopefully in exchange for a much greater prize, like a 3 for 1 kill or a dragon, etc. Supports can feed too, and they shouldn't have to kill themselves every time. They are worth gold to kill, too.

  5. Their job heavily depends on the specific support Champion in question, the composition of their team and the way the game is going (are you behind or ahead, is your ADC fed, is their top lane fed, etc). A support may start fights (like Alistar), they may disengage from fights(Like Janna), they may create pick opportunities for their team (like a Blitz or Malz), they may peel (most supports can do this), they may follow up initiation (like a good Nami ult or Braum ult) or, yes, they can help keep someone alive (like Soraka). And they always have a big role in contributing to vision control, which can help all of these goals and more. The support does what the team needs.

The fact that you don't understand the support role tells me you've just had crappy supports recently, and I'm sorry for that. But not every support is a garbage heal bot and they will actually, believe or not, contribute a great deal towards winning. Plus, what? Do you not like being kept alive?

I see you haven't had to carry a game as support yet, it only seems useless when everyone is at your same skill leave, hence _team _ game

    • No, but I have to protect my ADC of questionable intelligence while they try and farm.
    • We're expected to ward, keep track of the enemy jungler, and watch the map for our ADC.
    • Bullshit. You try playing Thresh support, aim your hook to try and stun a carry, toss your lantern to protect your carry and get them into position, and place your ult properly.
    • Are you trying to troll here? A support shouldn't be dying a lot. Fed is fed, regardless of who's dying. If you're a support, you shouldn't be dying, even if you don't get kills.
    • No. Supports can fill lots of jobs, from heavy CC supports like Thresh, high poke supports like Brand (I don't like it but it's bullshit I have to deal with), Tanky supports like Tahm Kench, Enchanters like Soraka and Janna, who do actually have to protect their ADC. Supports have an incredibly varied potential playstyle, and should be adjusted based on your ADC. Supports can win or lose their lane or even the game in champ select if they pick a support that works poorly with their ADC or team.

You obviously don't play a good support if you think this.

  1. They don't have to fight for every last cs

This is literally one of their primary objectives. They exist to make sure the adc gets all the cs possible. This entails keeping track of your minions and theirs to know when to pressure, tracking the jungler, and warding. As well as keeping track of enemy cooldowns.

  1. They don't have scan the map because that's not their job

This is literally everyones job. Every single person on the map should be doing this. Wards are useless if you don't.

  1. They don't have to make decisions in team fights when they're standing behind the ADC or tank.

This is...just wrong. Some supports shouldn't even be behind their adc (Braum). They have to make roughly the same amount of decisions.

  1. They're allowed to die a lot because most supports don't get kills anyways

They're not "allowed" to die a lot. It still gives the enemy gold. Yes, it is less impactful to the team overall if you die rather than your adc, but it still effects the game a lot. If you're feeding as a support it still hurts a lot.

  1. Their only job is keeping everyone alive, something that's quite frankly (despite what people say), not hard to do.

That would go back to decsions you claim they don't have to make. Your teams Galio is low in the middle of 3 of them, and your adc is dying to zed a little over to the right. You can only save one with your ultimate as Lulu. What do you do? What has the most impact? Keeping everyone alive in teamfights with limited tools is tough. That also assumes you're that kind of support, and not something like Brand.

At least supports do more than right click to win, lol.

You obviously have never tried to use item 3302 when playing with random ADCs if you think that.

Also every one of your points are false anyways so you honestly are just trolling if you really think that. Because really I can probably make a list that Supports has to do that the other roles don't have to do, and judging by your match history...you main Mid lane which is in all honestly probably the easiest role...(And yes I main Mid/Top as well).

You're stuck in B3, You have a 49% win rate and you don't even play support(much). You have no room to talk when it comes to how a role is played.

1: I guess it's right. 2 Hello? Since I started maining support i adopted the habit of checking the map every few seconds. Not only botlane, but all of it. 3: Generally the decision of the support will determine who lives or dies. 4: "Allowed to die?" You simply try to avoid dying in all roles, you know. 5 The job of the suppot includes checking the map regularly, warding, cleaning enemy wards, keeping ALL your team alive (notably the adc, yeah) controlling objectives, and in general, make everything easier for the team. Everybody can pick Janna or Soraka, stay behind the adc and heal or shield. But supporting is much more than that.
