I was debating talking about galio ever since his appearance on PBE however.

I just can't go on without saying my last voice before leaving due to an upcoming issue (Discontinuing legacy client)

I love the new champion but it just isn't Galio.

This isn't like sion who barely had anything balanceable to keep in his relaunch(They destroyed AP sadly, but his ulti was too strong for the rest of his kit to have power thus all they could keep was a stun, shield and inf scaling health), but this is destroying a design like with karma's relaunch(Old karma had actual karma themes to her gameplay which still havn't properly been realized into a champ).

Before I talk about the skills let me first mention the model, old galio had little nicks and cracks with a more lovefelt design which made him feel more loreful and cool, new galio feels like a sleek kid trying to force himself to be cool, it isn't bad but it just wasn't how galio felt for those who dedicated to pick him up.

I would have loved a traditional skin keeping his more heartfelt designed model, however the rework of the gatekeeper feels like a way to ignore granting a traditional skin. Old gatekeeper was cooler with a red and black only theme why did you have to force green into it?

I would love a revert of the color choice back to red and black for the gatekeeper and grant old galio player a traditional galio skin featuring his old green+yellow theme. I'd even pay for it if I had to.

Now for the skills, I'll say this I do love the skills but you destroyed what made galio himself in the process, galio wasn't just for his taunt or his Q, and I won't even say anything about damage right now because that isn't what makes a champ.

However you gave up his entire ability to speed up allies+himself and slow the enemy team, which I actually loved playing around with. You destroyed his sustain for more % based mitigation, I would've actually liked healing instead plus grievous wounds would've hurt it without you needing to repeatedly nerf the relaunch.(You had good reason to nerf him in case I worded that wrong)

You gave him a cool and unique mobility tool, however I do like the applications of it even if now galio is susceptible to stuff like veigar's stun(which has a knockdown to interrupt dashes) and makes it hard to move around if inside a clump of people at a teamfight. However that said it can be used to dodge things before going in which is really cool and different from someone like ekko/maokai or other dash champs. But I really don't feel it was worth removing his movement speed manipulation of allies and enemies for such a skill, although kinda mixed feeling because the new dash is unique.

His Passive and Q were a full improvement, his ulti feels pretty good and the new way taunt works is good.

I guess what I'm really sad over is galio's base model destruction, lost of teamwide movement speed manipulation, and lost of sustain just for % mitigation(which doesn't have an item to soft counter).

E does have drawbacks of even less mobility during fight and outside of combat use is more limited but I do believe the pros and uniqueness of it outway the cons which is why I'm not sad over that. I'm also not saying tack all this onto the current galio, but the % mitigation could be altered someday to sustain instead, gatekeeper could be altered in colors for a traditional skin release, and sadly teamwide movement speed manipulation is just gone completely.

First off, on the topic of traditional skins: They don't do those anymore because they're already relaunching the champ and in some cases it just won't work. It'd be hard to do a traditional galio, since we're on the topic. It takes a lot of work ot make them anyway, as it requires making an entire new skin along with the relaunch skins, a skin that will end up in the legacy vault after a few weeks, and will barely appear if it ever appears. Too much work, not enough payoff.

Next: If you look closely at galio, you'll see he's still suffering from some wear and tear over the centuries. Little nicks and cracks in the stone are apparent if you look close enough. Also, Loreful isn't a word.

Finally: Just looking at it, I personally think that Galio's new kit gives him a positive identity in-game. If his old one gave him one, it was kind of confused. He used ot be a melee attacker with all ranged abilities except his ult. Now he charges into the fight, forces his enemies to attack him, and cc's them to allow his team to fight back or get away. Sometimes there need to be big changes like that.
