Are flat AD Quints even worth it?

dunder kill··1 votes·774 views

6.75 AD for 3 quints seems pretty garbage to me tbh. Why do 3 Quints give 6.75 AD when 9 flat AD reds give 8.6 AD?

2.25 AD per quint seems like a waste to me

1 gold per 10 yellow rune gives 7 gold per 30 minutes, seems pretty good now dosent it?

Thats because if those things are ever kept viable, EVERYONE runs them. Gold/5 got nerfed for a very good reason

yeah and they are giving up early power for late game power so it's a trade off. So... yeah. Taking gold yellows means you aren't taking armor or HP runes which is immediate power. Taking gold quints means you aren't taking any of the other quints. There is a trade-off

It really doesn't.

To do a comparison, 6.75 AD is worth ~236 gold.

With current Gold/10 quints, you get 3g/10sec.

It only takes 13 minutes to make up that 236 gold difference. If they were buffed to 4g/10sec it would only take 9 minutes. Thats practically nothing. After 9 minutes, everything else would be profit.

9 minutes into the game isnt "late game power". This is exactly why gold/5 was nerfed for a very good reason

yeah, that's not how it works in the slightest but you can pretend it is.

Thats exactly how it works. Go ahead and explain it to me then. You can't.

I. DID. THE. MATH.

3g/10sec = 236g/X

2360 = 3X

X = 786 second = ~13 minutes

Substitute 4g/10sec:

4g/10sec = 236g/X

2360 = 4X

X = 590 seconds = ~9 minutes

The math is a FACT, not opinion.

Go ahead and attempt to argue against the basic math that 100% proved my point.

Waiting.

I am not the person you are addressing but that's not how it works.

All statistics have much greater value early game and begin to depreciate as time goes on. The initial statistics given by flat runes provides not a flat value but an 'invisible' scaling value as it provides greater early game strength which will tend to translate to greater mid game strength which will translate into greater late game strength.

This is the reason why your math is irrelevant. Gold doesn't translate into Gold as time goes by. The amplification of stats, by stats, makes all your calculations completely meaningless.

congrats on proving that 4 extra gold per X is better than 3 gold per X.

Want a cookie? i am not talking about gold runes by themselves but in comparison to AD and your woeful misconception of AD runes vs gold runes

Explanation:

If you take the AD quints last hitting is easier, it is easier to push your opponent out of lane, and it may even get you a kill. Taking gold/10 is giving up free stats at the start of the game which could cause you to miss cs and lose early trades which in turn sets you back. If you look at raw value than sure, you are correct. There is more to it than just the gold value of the runes though. You have to take into account how it affects actual gameplay.

They totally are worth it. You just run both. There exist champs that would rather have the extra 6-7 AD (depending on how the math works out on the specific champion) than the extra AS those quints would be giving.

They're only worth on AD based champions, otherwise attack speed or something would be better.

Although their cost value might be shit, they're the best stat for the slot for AD based champions.

I know we've all heard this before, but they claim (Operative word being CLAIM) they're going to rework Runes and Masteries. Now, when and IF, that time comes, no one knows yet. So when and if that happens, AD Runes will probably get a major overhaul alongside the rest of the system. They might even create entirely NEW runes that might appeal more to the specific "Classes" they are dividing champs into.

Perhaps, some new Runes that might appeal to Divers and Skirmishers, but wouldn't synergize as well with Wardens/Vanguards or Juggernauts. Or on the flip side, some new Runes that would work better for Juggernauts, Wardens and Vanguards, but not for Divers and Skirmishers.

There could be some that are good for Controllers, but not Enchanters and vice versa.

Now, this is all nothing but conjecture. Really, all WE can do is wait and see.

They are somewhat underwhelming, even on champions they're suited for. Although historically they were once a staple and people do run them but if you slotted in some attack speed instead even just 4.5% it can help extended trades or with pushing/last hitting

It's more that the red slot runs are very strong.

Some ad champions also have over 1.0 scaling with ad runes. In certain cases that ad rune can be inceased by 120% to 200%.
