How can Fizz use his Q coming out of Zhonyas while standing in Raka's silence and on Jinx traps?
This happened multiple times this game where I dropped my Silence on Fizz in Zhonyas yet he can immediately use his Q to escape it. Whats the point of having a silence if it doesn't actually silence anyone?

DarkRitual30 votesThe silence does not refresh constantly, so if you spam a spell/ability you can get it to fire off before the Soraka silence refreshes on you.
Teridax6816 votesAs mentioned by others, the problem here isn't with Fizz specifically, but with Soraka's silence, which has been buggy since her rework and hasn't been fixed. The silence is inconsistent and will randomly not work, which allows champions to cast spells while inside, as was the case with the Fizz in your situation. From what I understand this is also a problem with other area-based CC effects, it's just that Soraka's is the most visible when things don't happen as they should.

Teridax682 votesThis is also a problem with other area-based CC effects, which includes Jinx's traps. Dashes themselves are particular in that spamming their casts can mess enough with the buffering to make a champion move even when they shouldn't, so it really is a combination of game-wide factors, and not just Fizz being extra annoying.

Shuyin1787 votesRiot made a change awhile back to give a slight window between CCs (stasis counting as CC) to give counterplay windows to prevent infinite CC lock. The window is extremely small however, so if anything this Fizz got lucky he hit the window.

True Sight6 votesThe silence part on the Soraka equinox lasts for 1 second, by the time he got out of zhonya the silence from equinox dissipated. Nothing weird here, just a badly placed equinox

the same thing can be seen in wukong ultimite, people can sometimes pass right through it if they dont get hit by the damage of the ult.

then they should probably change the effect on her ability to be constantly applied, theres a gud deal of mobility creep and we need all our tools that we currently have working at max capacity to deal with all of it

the silence field checks every 0.25 seconds for champions on it, so when he came out he could insta cast the spell before it was checked again.

Nielarken4 votesJinx traps I will say should have rooted him. As some one who plays Soraka 98% of the time I will tell you from experience. You can cast almost anything but channels while standing dead center in soraka's silence. Fizz even tho he was sitting in the silence he was able to use his dash because he used it before the next silence tick refreshed on sorakas aoe and I doubt this will ever get fixed or changed.

Rakvir3 votesMaybe it's rose-tinted glasses but Soraka is a re-worked champion I find they made too situational at times (thus, negligible) and impossibly overpowered at others. Sure, so was old Soraka but not nearly to the same level on either side of the coin. I feel it was a re-work for the sake of a re-work.
Her old targeted silence (or ally mana restore) was much better and while still could be momentarily avoided by Fizz and others just the same, at least there was the concept it was not a quasi-skill shot. Bad enough that most people can already run out of it but it just stings that much more in situations as described by the OP.
FooDang3 votesThe Jinx traps weren't armed before Fizz got out. You can clearly see the animation happens right when Fizz gets out.
Fizz is not under the effects of Soraka silence while in Zhonya's. Probably was able to queue his Q while in Zhonyas and it was able to go off before Sorakas silence took effect.
Penns2 votesWell you can buffer spells in Zhonyas, I guess you can still cast a spell like that because Raka E or Jinx/Cait traps dont activate instantly when you come out of Zhonyas or used 
on them.

Spacesuit Spiff2 votesThis is the one time I actually agree with the "flashy lcs big plays are ruining this game" mindset. We should have some big strategic NOPE buttons to throw at those champs, or at least not appear to even though they don't. I've seen this Soraka interaction with Kata, Leblanc, others, it's pretty annoying when you figure out a way to predict and outplay someone that just straight up doesn't work because of the tick rate. I don't even like Soraka and I'd want this fixed, just because it's the sort of thing that shouldn't exist in a billion-dollar game.
Edit: reading the thread, I'll suggest that maybe being in an area CC while in stasis prevents abilities from buffering normally: give them just enough delay for the tickrate to apply first (and lower the tickrate if necessary). This would at least fix the zhonyas case.
Vier2 votesI think abilities like Soraka and Jinx E need to have their tick rate (or pickup whatever its called) increased. Used to also be the case with Lux E back in Season 3 where if someone entered her slow it wouldn't slow instantly but now it seems to be working perfectly so I think these can also be fixed.
Oh also Pantheon ult can completely just ignore Soraka E, I always expect the instant silence when he lands but nope.
Karfuss2 votesThis is exactly why I cannot play Soraka as an effective support, and it isn't just limited to Zhonya.
Pantheon can activate abilities when he ults inside a silence zone, as can Lissandra when using her E. The biggest offender is Lee Sin mind, he's still using his R when he uses Q to get into range.
The ticks simply do not apply fast enough, and it's causing broken interactions with dozens of champions.
Kewlayd1 votesIt actually looks like Jinx's traps were displaced. If you watch it again the middle one (the one that should have trapped Fizz) is off centered. My thinking is he is considered a structure while he is in stasis from Zhonyas.

underscores2224 votesThe Jinx traps did not actually have time to set before he dashed. There's something like a .75 arming delay on chompers - looks like he got out before they armed.

Every field in LoL is coded to refresh at a certain rate E.g. fountain homeguard buff, Raka E, Cassio W poison, scuttle speed buff, Karthus W, etc.
if you spam an ability too fast you may get the command passed before the next refresh tick
kile1475 votesThat doesn't make the gameplay of this any better. Raka silence should be a counter to situations like this, but instead it's almost useless because anyone untargetable has time to flash/dash out before it actually hits them.

No...even if fizz playfulls right before the pull pulls him it'll pull him while hes ON his pole it makes him untargetable not invunerable...i'm a fizz main so i've seen the reaction tons of times
