but I'd rather go against a Thresh than Soraka cuz you can actually focus somebody without insta losing.

I would call her bad, but that's just because I hate the rework. I also hate using her as a healer outside of her ult now. Which was a pretty brilliantly stupid design decision by riot: "let's make a healer who people don't want to heal with." If the rework happened before I started playing LOL, I probably would never have got soraka and instead only bought Sona to be my healer support champ.

I think most people would call her unfun to play and unfun to play against. It's like riot multiplied whatever old anti-fun she had in her kit and distilled out whatever joy it brought to her mains.

I can agree to that. I don't find her at all fun to play anymore. Sure it is fun to save someone in a different lane with her ultimate, but the rest of her kit just feels boring and quite honestly annoying. And that passive feels so gimmicky. I can run really fast just to watch you die because I couldn't get in close enough range because I have no range and it doesn't active until you are dying.

Well, they added a lot of counterplay and depth to her kit, and they made her the one proper healer in League that she was always meant to be. So I don't see anything wrong in this regard. Anyone who enjoys playing healers in any other game should enjoy playing Soraka. Before she was more like a red mage in that she was just a jack-of-all-trades mage (she wasn't even good as support before). Not that there's anything wrong with that kind of champ, but it wasn't a role meant for Soraka. I wouldn't mind seeing that concept placed on a new champion however.

Well, part of my feelings is that the old soraka was a bit more of a battlemage who was good at healing (a red mage as you put it). Her big healing wasn't her W so much as it was her ult and that was a pretty huge heal. She was also a lot better at trading than the new version and TBH during laning, a support is supposed to be the one starting most of the trades to free up the ADC to last hit. My feelings is that the old Soraka was a good champ to introduce people to healing even if they didn't like playing a dedicated healer.

I miss her armor buff.
I miss her mana gift.
I miss her free single target E.
I miss her ability to shove out lanes so you can back. (she was a great support if your team was lacking waveclear)
I really miss her ability to ping out a hidden teemo with her Q.
I miss her ability to heal without killing herself. (biggest complaint of the rework personally)
I miss not having to spam Q to stay alive.

Soraka requires a lot of resource management even late in the game (health, namely). I can see why people would consider that a drawback. But whenever I ask ADCs if they want Morgana or Soraka support, they always want Soraka.

I'd want Morg almost every time. Only time I'd prefer Soraka is with a Corki, Lux, Ezreal, or Karma.

why? she's so much better in a hard engage than a poke war.

she's amazing with champs like lucian/graves/sivir/vayne/quinn because she stops them from getting blown up when they go in. corki or ezreal can just dash away and lifesteal on a creep or the enemy tank.

LOL. All-ins are her greatest failing, because her heals have too long of a cooldown for too little health. She doesn't do shit to save people or win lanes, she mitigates long term harass and keeps the lane even.

Morg is just a more effective support at peeling. When I'm not going to get harassed 24/7, I'll take her.

Morg is great at peeling.... but you have no idea what you're talking about regarding soraka. An AOE silence and a 3 second heal with her mobility, an ult that takes away ignite and heals based on missing health. Raka is incredible in a hard engage lol.

Soraka was my champ for 80% of support picks simply because with her ability to both heal and give mana(this made her unique) to my adc I could literally keep them in lane forever if needed. She also could cover ANY lane if needed due to dc/afk. Now since her "new updated skillset" she collects dust and name/lux have taken her place. she was also the best "counter to karthus' ult" especially since I always built her ap even when it was considered troll to do so.

give me back my old skill set and I will dust Soraka off and I will use her, otherwise she is just a useless placeholder in my champ pool.

Some tips,

Don't bother trading with her adc, if she's smart she's just going to stand back and heal him up + starcall to heal herself. So chances are you will lose the trade.

The only damage worth doing is on Soraka herself, so you have to poke her if she get's out of position.

Dodge her Starcall. This denies her health returns which she really needs in order to spam heal. It isn't hard to dodge unless you're in melee range of her.

Besides heal, all her other spells cost a lot of mana, keep this in mind. If she's spamming q and e every time they are up, she's going to run out of mana very fast!

When picking against her, you have these options -

Pick someone with sustain like Nami, Sona. You will never out-sustain a Soraka, but you have a chance of going even in lane this way.
Pick a kill lane with Annie, Zyra, vel'koz ect. The goal here is to burst Soraka as often as you can.
Pick blitz or thresh and grab her + instaburst her.
