As a Diamond, climbing in silver is actually really fucking easy

The only reason my smurf stayed in silver is because I was only playing vayne on it (im actually a silver level vayne aka trash vayne) as soon as i decided i wanted the account to climb, it did. dont pat yourselves on the back and blame it on elo hell, you're just a shitter if you say that

This post won't get as much attention as the other one even though it's true

What the other guy is experiencing is the fact that he's used to diamond and things that win you silver games are stupid ideas in diamond.

For example I almost always let people tower dive me at low ELO if I see it coming because 80% of the time they'll fuck it up.

Little things, like if the opponent you've killed 3 times in lane goes aggro in diamond you can almost guarantee he has a gank. If he goes aggro from behind in silver you can almost guarantee he doesn't.

In silver, if you know you're better, you basically just play super selfish and win the game on your own. I'd have a better chance playing Yi and ignoring the lanes for 25 minutes than playing Rek'Sai and giving every one of them a lead.

so true...even starting to feel like this in gold. Give everyone a lead by successfully ganking the lanes which they were losing. Then the cockiness comes...OHHHHH I killed him I'm so good...proceeds to feed.

why did i bother -_-

And then people wonder why no junglers want to go tank

Spicy Rice2 votes

It's really funny. People on my team will yell at me for not going tank and farming a devo. And then ill laugh at them while im singlehandedly carrying them to lategame

That's not it,I remember when I smurfed in silver I just ran idiotic shit(like support syndra) and still won,got stuck in plat 1 for a while though(that place is hell),that guy simply just was very unlucky and got upvoted because that's what people want to hear.

But no,there's no trick or secret picks for silver, you just pick something you're not shit on and you steamroll.

Verxint3 votes

I didn't say secret picks or anything. Just that if youre used to diamond, and selfish hard carrying isn't your style, Silver can be wierd to get used to.

I was just trying to give examples. I completely agree that if you're not shit you'll steamroll. I wasn't saying it's some secret pick or technique, just that your priorities in silver are a bit different and if you don't know what you're getting yourself into, you could trip over it.

The reason support syndra won is because you probably played for kills and knew how to not throw your lead within 2 minutes of getting it. And instead of playing like a support, you just became the AP carry.

IMO adapting how you play to the MMR you're in is a big part of climbing fast.

What I meant by "things that are dumb in diamond win silver" is basically if you respect the silvers and assume they're being smart, you miss opportunities. If you're generally a passive player, which is valid, you will feel out of your element in silver where aggression will win.

I actually just went mikaels/locket/banner and generally lucidity boots.

I don't know, silver is really bad at a lot of things, just pick something lategame oriented(they have a tendancy to throw) and crush your lane.

I honestly don't feel like being passive is valid at all, unless you're something exceptionally stupid like soraka, but still,if you play passive you give enemies control of the lane,it pretty much never is a good choice.

You didn't need the rudeness to get this point across.

Joe Dredd6 votes

I do though. I want people who blame them being what rank they are on people in that rank to feel bad.

Firu7 votes

That really says something about you then, doesn't it? Shouldn't you want them them to "understand" what contributes to them being in a certain rank? Instead of feeling bad about themselves? Show some maturity...

Joe Dredd3 votes

They already know the real reason They arent good enough to be in the next rank lol But they have some stupid mental block that prevents them from accepting that they are trash https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect

Firu9 votes

I agree that biases exist. It still doesn't excuse a poor attitude and insulting a player base.

shabingi1 votes

What is wrong with making fun of people that think they are diamond players trapped in silver elo hell? These people deserve to be ridiculed for being so incredibly arrogant. It takes away from peoples accomplishments when the player base thinks it's all luck.

Vekkna5 votes

Are there people who think they're diamond trapped in silver? I personally only ever see silver who think they're worth gold or possibly plat 5 0 LP.

And I don't necessarily disagree with them. I'm gold 4 or 5 now and plat 5 on my EU account. I have friends in S 1-3 who are unquestionably better players than me in both mechanics and knowledge. I ask them for help to improve, and I have literally nothing to offer them back.

So it does exist, thought I couldn't say why.

Firu3 votes

Because all it does is make you feel better by mocking someone for doing something that makes them feel better. It doesn't really help them adjust their view because all they will most likely see is someone making fun of them and not pay attention to the actual message.

I'm Diamond.

I've played at Silver level and it's easy as pie. You can play literally anything and win games, I've gone AP Sion, AD Nid, support Gangplank, mid Sona, top Taric and it works out pretty well. People are just so terrible ... there is no excuse for being stuck at Silver other than being bad.

Firu7 votes

Silver is not being bad. Silver is being average. The biggest percentage of players in League (just over 40% last I checked) are silver. Less than 5% are diamond or higher. That's like saying if you didn't get an A+ in your class then you get an F. You can be average at the game without being called "bad".

Gold is already top 25%

Its almost as though certain roles/champins are easier to carry out of bronze/silver with then others.

10/10 excuse you can play anything in those ranks

MetalGearTeemu3 votes

Being able to play anything does not mean its as easy to but a game on your back.

Hence why Ryze carries a game harder then a fed lux.

The fact that you can link good games with lux does not change the fact that lux does not carry a game as hard as Ryze does.

which brings us back to the original statement, that some champions and positions carry a game harder then others.

Ryze is a guaranteed loss to the team he's on unless the person plays hundreds of Ryze games, you can carry as Lux support while being new or mediocre with Lux, and thnen Ryze can't even be played anywhere but top really anyways. Just because you don't know how to play Lux doesn't mean she can't carry. I have "carried" plenty of games as support Nami/Lux and stolen several dragons and barons.

MetalGearTeemu1 votes

again, I ask you to please put aside your FEELINGS and stop moving the goalposts.

Ryze is the original AP carry, able to scale incredibly hard into the lategame and output sustained magic damage on par with ADC's.

Because lux "Can" do this or that, or the fact that Ryze has a narrow laning setup does not change the fact that he is a harder Carry then lux, and that you are much more scared of a 10/0/10 Ryze then you are of a Lux based on raw magic damage output.

Ryze scales harder and carries harder. This isn't debate, this is widely known fact. If you are trying to carry yourself out of a lower bracket Ryze is a far better tool because he carries and split pushes harder.

Lux is by nature a poke mage and has one of the longest basic spell rotation cooldowns in the game, if not THE longest.

Being dps=/=actual carrying, it just means you do a lot of damage over time. Just because ADCs Have "carry" in their name doesn't mean they are easier to carry with, it simply means they deal high sustained damage. Ryze being a dps mage doesn't change what I said, his win rate in soloq is absolute trash unless played by a dedicated player where as Lux requires absolutely no practice with at all to reliably win half the time. Lux deals enough burst to 100-0 1~2 targets from far away while providing utility. Ryze also can't "carry" while played as a support either and she also doens't have to hope a game lasts long enough to "scale", she remains a relevant factor at all points in the game. There is no point in comparing the two damage wise when they don't even have a similar pattern, one is dps and the other is burst. Ryze also offers very little outside of damage where as Lux is utility focused in addition to her burst.

As a Plat I myself (Hope to hit diamond by end of season) I have to agree. I started my ranked career in silver III, and climbing out of it took no time at all. Sure, I DO have to think differently in lower elo games, but part of being a higher elo is REALIZING that you have to think differently. I know I can't count on my team to follow up on an engage, so the smart decision is to just not do that. I know no one knows how to double jungle, so I just won't do that. I know people don't know how to leash krugs/groump. I just won't do that.

As long as you understand the habits and mentality of the players that you're playing with and against, it's easy to take advantage of IF you're skilled enough. If you're not skilled enough then, no offense, you're probably where you belong.

Rueian3 votes

Realize that not everyone can be silver, or gold, or plat, or diamond... the rankings are on a curve. As someone climbs someone has to fall.

Joe Dredd1 votes

everyone knows that

Rueian2 votes

Yet you want to just insult people for feeling that they cant climb a little bit more because they can't carry the weight of 4 other players? A person in High silver, can be gold if their teammates were more consistent. Consistency is an issue with the game's ranking system as no game is consistent unless a full 5 man premade. A person who climbs out of a Tier is actually much more skilled then the barrier they had to pass due to the fact that they had to compensate for their team. The ranking system is Skewed. A gold 5 man team, could consist of 5 silver solo queue players, because the 5 players carry their own weight unlike in solo queue where they must carry the weight of others aswell.

For every game they can't carry their team's dead weight, they fall. It is the best the system can be, but the system is not very accurate because of that.

Think of a better way to express yourself instead of calling players 'shitters'

You might be diamond. But you calling people "shitters" shows your attitude is bronze man.

Stonington2 votes

What gets me is when you see someone complain about ranked and they have a 70-80% winrate on a certain champion, but choose to play everything under the sun and lose.

Joe Dredd5 votes

everyone has freelo they can win with but dont enjoy playing

Stonington2 votes

I can appreciate that, but in that case don't whine about not being able to climb when you have a sure fire way to win.

Verxint2 votes

If you want to climb, you play what you win with...

Even though I seem to always lose lane as Jax, and feel like I never got to come online, I end up winning with him. I guess the splitpush is stronk, I dunno. What I know is that it seems to work.

What really baffles me is the guy who has 200+ games on a champ and has a terrible KDA and ~50% (or even less) winrate. You gotta know how to tell when a champ just isn't for you.

Joe Dredd1 votes

I don't need to abuse freelo though. When I'm first pick I don't try to force enemy to ban OP champs or I instalock them because I'm not gonna pick them even if they are open.

Verxint2 votes

We're not even talking about freelo champs.

We're literally just saying use the statistics. If you have 60%+ winrate on a champ, play that champ, not the one you have 51% and average 9 deaths per game.

Play the fun champ in normals.

Lauchmelder2 votes

Yes, but then don't complain if "you are stuck". I think that was the point Sonnington was trying to make. I for example have a decent winrate on Leona but find her dull to play. I prefer my 55% Thresh far more than that 70-ish Leona.

if u accept that u are bad u can lern now u gud

Ackelope1 votes

I don't think the simple act of accepting it is as meaningful as it's popularized to be. I've not really played much ranked, but I've always viewed myself as somethin of a shitter, I try to see what's going wrong in my games and overall learn from bad experiences but I feel I can't pinpoint what it is exactly I'm doing wrong, and it just doesn't feel like I'm ever going to get much better at all :/
