Fizz is not Fish22 votes

a few days later you guys will ask nerf to ap fizz again.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

At least AP Fizz doesn't build sustain, has bad waveclear and relies on his cooldowns, and his escape to do damage.

JevelFaithful1 votes

But ap bursts you down before you can react. I mean, look at his kit (not his numbers) the guy is made to be a bruiser : Q : dash W : on hit buff E : Evasion + dash R Aoe CC.

COmpare with jax : Q : dash W : Damage buff E : evasion + CC R : ON hit buff / active super-mode defense.

I still think Fizz makes a lot more sense as bruiser than assassin.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

All assassins do that though. I'm just one of the few people that didn't have a seething hatred for Fizz before the changes to him, and now his burst has been heavily hit outside of using his ult so he's not going to be as strong as he was before either.

JevelFaithful1 votes

I don't really hate fizz either, I just prefer to see him as ad than assassin. Just a matter of aesthetics and gameplan.

With how you word it, you could make an argument for vayne.

Q: Dash with AA buff. W: On hit stacking buff E: CC R: Steroid/Evasion/Chasing power.

JevelFaithful1 votes

True. Then again, vayne is a close range adc. The only difference between that and a melee-carry (which is just a "light fighter" with high damage potential) is the attack range. But on the scale of adc, she is pretty much a "melee fighter".

I mean, you can say that about vayne (or grave or Kal, another similar adc), but can you say that about ashe or varus or the other "standart" adc. In the same way, assassins like leblanc or mages like Zerath don't feel that way.

Honestly, both are terrible to deal with.

Can someone explain how this is a nerf? Them moving his active part of his W to his passive part of W doesn't seem much of a nerf to me.

The passive portion is a 3 second DoT, Th active damage was on hit.

with the change, AS builds won't be effective anymore.

Thryale2 votes

it's just a revert of the "nerf" they gave him a while back

junglerboy161 votes

"buff" you mean, changing it to an on-hit instead of a DoT was the best thing to happen to Fizz in a long time (whether AD or AP).

Thryale5 votes

not quite. yes the change greatly benefited atkspd builds, but the active lacked an ap ratio, and 8% missing hp is not that much dmg in most cases. So it's considered a nerf as far as a bursty assassin is concerned.

Captain Aishi1 votes

but when he gets bork, he starts dealing 8%max hp on every auto in mixed damage, and that was what was really infuriating to play against as any non-burst champ, glad they changed it :)

Kuroi861 votes

Bork deals 8% current hp, even combined with 8% missing health, it won't deal as much as max health damage.

Ziovi2 votes

math time:

THP = max hp CHP = current hp MHP = missing hp

obviously: THP = CHP + MHP

which means: 8% CHP + 8% MHP = 8% (CHP + MHP) = 8% THP

Of course, you can't actually sum them like that because one is physical damage, while the other magic damage, but 8% current health combined with 8% missing health is indeed equal to 8% total health

tofutime2 votes

Sorry for being a noob but can you explain what the difference is? The dot is still applied when he autoattacks isn't it?

Does it just not get applied when he uses Q? I guess that's a slight nerf but doesn't really change AD fizz's playstyle or output since AD fizz's usually auto right after their dash anyways right? In fact it seems like a nerf to AP assassin fizz playstyle moreso.

Tsohgder28 votes

Right now he deals 8% missing HP instantly with each autoattack.

In the PBE he deals 8% over 3 seconds, and the damage over time doesn't stack, it just refreshes.

That means, the DoT will ALWAYS deal 2,6% HP per second, but the current Fizz can deal a lot more damage by simply attacking faster, he can stack attack speed and burn 8% of your missing HP every half second(example).

The only case where both versions deal the same damage is when fizz only attacks once every 3 seconds.

I see thanks for this explanation

So basically... Fizz is going to start building Tiamat? item 3070 rito plsitem 3070

Borbland1 votes

Tiamat (thanks god) don't proc On hit effects.

Else Braum with Tiamat would be god tier.

LICENSED HOOKER1 votes

looooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

terkmc5 votes

In the span of 3 second with two attacks: New fizz attack twice and gets the damage x1.5 (ticks for 1.5 second, half damage and then refresh upon attack for another 3 second) Old fizz attack twice and get damage x2 (attack hit twice, applies on hit twice). New fizz have no way of increasing the on hit dps because dot is a set dps, old fizz can build AS to boost the on hit dps

Because autoattacking twice will just refresh it, it won't do the full damage twice. So for example, hitting twice with an attack that does 10 damage over five seconds would only do the 10 damage over time plus like maybe the one tick of damage between autos whereas if it was initial it'd just do 20 damage.

A move that does execute damage on auto attacks is something that should never have even happened in the first place...

Zed I agree.

Meeks0111 votes

Though it's on a 10 second cooldown while Fizz's is on a 1.5-.4 second cooldown.

Llanite6 votes

Finally can play AP Fizz again.

This thing is getting old.

Joe Dredd5 votes

Yea, I'd rather be able to build MR versus fizz

Dengeden3 votes

I don't, people discovered something unexpectedly good about a champion? Better nerf it. It's like the random nerfs to cinderhulk but worse. It's not even like AD Fizz was an unstoppable late game force... (What's more people will whine about no nerfs to Nid or Lee and I always hated that)

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

Here's the difference; whereas Cinderhulk and Sejuani received minor nerfs because they were just strong, AD Fizz is losing this because it's broken. He's able to build as a tanky fighter, who you can't afford to ignore because of his damage output, but you can't focus because his defense and Playful/Trickster make him really hard to kill.

Passionlip2 votes

Yup, good job.

nerfs to ad fizz? where?

Thryale4 votes

not actual nerfs. just a revert of the nerf they gave to ap fizz a while back.

Auz the Ripper1 votes

It just takes the form of a nerf to AD fizz

Thryale1 votes

to a particular build maybe, but not to the champion as a whole. Fizz's identity is a nimble assassin, not a dodge tank.

Auz the Ripper1 votes

I'm not saying it's a bad thing in anyway His intended build (assassin) suffered with the % health damage on the active and the alternate build was pretty cheese ( 8% max health on-hit With BotRK was/is Ridiculous, especially when you land his ult and bump it to 9.6%)

JevelFaithful1 votes

But it's on PBE apparently. Surrender@20 doesn't seem to show it yet. BUt they're putting active-W as a DoT. (from what I gathered here)

Asdeft1 votes

nerfs to ad fizz? where?

surrender@20, percent missing hp damage put back to dot

FourVsFive2 votes

i hope he nerfed he op

Space Bum2 votes

So glad this happened. Was so tired of him getting Bork and doing 32% max health every second.

Auz the Ripper1 votes

No! He could only do 20% max health each second, max 24% if you landed his something, something, skillshot ult! It's totally fair and not cheese in any way!

GLWuffie2 votes

Riot basically messed up at "trying to fix" him. They did something they shouldn't have, nerf his PRIMARY role. He's an assassin, and the live stats are better suited for him to a bruiser than an assassin. People stopped playing assassin Fizz since something better and more consistent worked in (AD Fizz has always been a thing, but the live stats make it much more effective).

If and when the PBE changes come to Fizz, I will actually miss his AD build. His AP is iffy, as Q and E are still below what it used to be, though his R is unaffected so he still has that damage bonus that could potentially be a boost... but still gonna be very ult-reliant.

I know I might be disliked for this, but relying on the Ult for actual damage as a Fizz kinda feels... I dunno. It's Fizz's only ranged thing, and he's melee and mana-reliant. But knowing that, that is PROBABLY the reason why his E is untouched, to make up for those downfalls.

Time will tell, and only by experimenting and playing will we know the true results. Until then, SUSPENSE (unless you got PBE well then, let us know :D)

{quoted} He's an assassin, and the live stats are better suited for him to a bruiser than an assassin.

Honnestly, I don't think that's true b looking at his kit. His numbers are AP, but the skills themselves tell me ad mobile fighter.

iainB852 votes

I'm just amazed that change to his W went through, let alone lasted this long. Every theorycrafter in the world immediately recognized how dumb that change would be, and they were all correct. Does Rito even care anymore?

Auz the Ripper1 votes

I literally bought fizz the instant I saw the 5.2 patch notes, purely so I could play AD Fizz

Jingerbeardman1 votes

so let me get this straight.... you are complaining about a big buff to his overall damage potential because it is a tiny nerf to his aa potential?

You are getting %missing health on every single attack you make ALWAYS, compared to only for 5 seconds... you guys are ridiculous... lol

It's a straight nerf for AD Fizz because since it was ON HIT instead of over 3 seconds, with a high attack speed you could do 40-60% of their missing health along with botrk doing current health so it was %max health (by the math), 8% max health per hit after level 9 with a fast attack speed absolutely shreds anyone including the tank meta.

Also if you landed your Shark it was 20% amp so 9.6% max health damage every hit you could get off in those 5 seconds. That's insane.

Thats in a perfect world where your opponents stood still and let you kill them... you are still going to get 2.6% of a players missing health with each attack, even after 5 seconds. Also I used to think like you with regard to missing and current health damage together equaling %max but it actually doesn't even though it would make sense if it did.
