Do you think that yasuo's ult is balanced? Why or why not?
Do you think that yasuo's ult is balanced? Why or why not?
It's probably a bit overloaded, much like most of Yasuo's kit. The nature of it makes Yasuo kind of niche. In some team comps, it's borderline useless unless the player is really skilled and can proc it themselves; in other team comps, it's kind of overbearing since it's built as a wombo-combo ult; not necessarily a problem, esp if you have ways to play around that (stop the initial engage and Yasuo doesn't have many tools to combo off of).
I think my issue with it is that the cooldown drops so drastically; why does it need to be 30 seconds at max rank? Especially since Yasuo is more late-game oriented with how he's reliant on getting a few items, his ult makes him even more powerful at that point since the armor pen and all his stats from items means he deals ridiculous amounts of damage, and the low cooldown means if he fails he can try again really soon afterwards. It's a really game changing ultimate, I don't see why there's such a low cost to failure.
The thing that gets me is his passive. His ultimate could get a 60/55/50 second cool down and no one would even mind (unless they are crazed yasuo mains). His passive shouldn't allow bonus critical damage. Not with no way of dodging such critical damages. I've played as and against with full critical and seen that even tanks don't stand a chance. It's worse than Tryndamere but even with Master Yi, his swipe animation is very fast. If we could just take that off and put back his MS boost then I'd be fine. I liked the small MS boost he'd get. It allowed his shield meter to replenish easier and its easy to stop. Just give him a up to +10 MS boost every 10 points he gains back for his shield.
Really? His ult could do no damage and it's still an instant, auto-targeted wombo combo AoE CC from 1200 range. That itself isn't a huge problem, there are plenty of wombo-combos in the game with more flexibility, so sure, there's a trade off there, but the cooldown (or lack of) just seems absurd. I mean sure, the damage makes the issue worse, but in a drawn out fight he can ult twice. That's kind of ridiculous. Like, late game Yasuo doesn't have to make the choice between using his ult in a skirmish or save it for a larger teamfight; he'll pretty much always have it up. It's not just, as I said before, that there's a low cost to failure; there's a low cost period. Using his ult in a 1v1 late game doesn't cost him anything since he'll have it up for the next skirmish or next teamfight; it's much more difficult to coordinate attacks based on Yasuo's ult being down like you could for most other champions.
On the flipside, because it's a combo ultimate, he's typically not using it on cooldown, so why is it that low at all? It's just unnecessary power imo. It feels like it should be an ultimate that's saved for that one gamechanging fight, not just used at every possible moment just because you always have it up.
His passive is pretty interesting, since it encourages him to rush crit chance as fast as possible, which generally means a stattik shiv. That itself doesn't offer a ton of damage, plus, unlike most squishy melee carries' (ie. Yi, Trynd, Riven, Fiora) first items (ie. BotRK, Hydra), it doesn't give him any sustain. It fits the 'late game carry' mentality since it puts off his powerspike until 2-3 items (though it's questionable how much that really matters, given his overall short CDs and absurd mobility inside a minion wave and teamfight), but it's something to keep in mind. Basically, there's a reason for it; whether it's a good reason is debatable (like, is it okay to have a champion with a weak early-mid game, barring the crazy mechanical outplays that are possible with his kit, to have them spike astronomically in the late game? Given the community's sentiment towards Vayne and pre-rework Tristana, I don't think many people are a fan, but I could be wrong). By contrast, I see no reason his ult cooldown should be as low as it is.
In his defense some other assasins have their ult pretty much up all the time.
(50 sec cd)
(45 sec cd without passive)
(15 sec per charge so around 45 sec total without passive)
(55 sec cd)
Their ults aren't AoE CC, just damage and some utility. And with that, Yasuo's ult is still on a shorter cooldown than the champions you brought up, aside from Akali (and Kassadin), who basically revolve around their ultimates (and are massive balance pains because of it)
well if you ult with kat you are most likely gettign a kill so the timer may say 45 sec but unless you mess up is always up as well
That's if Kat succeeds, and that's also why she's one of the most snowbally champions in the game, not exactly the shining example of healthy gameplay. Yasuo meanwhile still gets the short cooldown if he fails.
why does it need to be 30 seconds at max rank?
This is my main complaint about Blitzcrank's ultimate at all ranks.
Alongside Yasuo, it's just a little short for an ultimate cooldown.
I'm with you on that
Well a blitz ult won't kill you...it will screw you over but blitz alone doesn't have enough power to kill you unless he is ahead and you are the adc. And he pays for using it by gettign the passive feature of the ult removed while is on CD
Meh. Yasuo just needs a rework. He stands for everything Riot says they are philosophically against.
What exactly do you mean by that? What (for lack of a better word) design policy does he violate?
Overloaded kits (obvious) and invisible power (if you've never played as/against Yasuo, you would never know that he gains double crit chance, and that his ult causes him to ignore 50% of his target's bonus armor). Honestly, they're not even the most annoying parts of his kit, but they do go against some of Riot's design values, so there's that
Oh I know the 2x crit chance (with slightly weaker damage) and the free random armor pen on ult from other
complaint threads. I also know about his free mini shield that he gets from moving around. But what "Riot champ values" does he break?
EDIT: I'm an idiot and realized that you saying that he has the double crit and armor pen as invisible power got it
Personally, no. I think that his ultimate gives him way too much armor pen, but that's really my only issue with it.
Yes, because unless they are knocked up, Its worthless.
Yeah.. He's balanced to me... Hes a squishy melee "fighter/assassin" whos only escape are the enemy minions. He has a lot of out play potential and when hes farmed he can look like a monster.. Without farm this guy doesn't do much.
Not at all. It CC's the target (which could be your whole team), allows him to crit on each attack, and has 50% ARMOR PEN. Honestly, can anyone think 50% pen on ANY champion would be balanced?

In her defense, it's a lot harder to use hers consistently (unless you're running Runaan's)
Personally I think his overloaded kit and even armor pen and high crit chance is balanced since he can only ult off someone being knocked up. That being said I think he is balanced when he is playing in a team comp where he is the only one who can knock people up, I feel a lot of the unbalanced issues come from being able to ult off of his allies knockups too. When he is playing in a team comp with a lot of wombo for him then yeah he's gonna be broken because he really doesn't have to do much except press R and do yasuo things.
Honestly, his ult is probably the second-least objectionable part of Yasuo's kit.
His ult? Hell no, not balanced if we're just talking about it. Multi-target damage? TONS of armor pen.? And his passive shield automatically charged? Fuck, that is OP.
However, if we're talking about his kit in general, he's balanced-ish. Besides maybe his wind wall. Destroying every projectile in the game? Honestly that's pretty OP, in my opinion at least, even if it is just from one direction.
I think it's OK. Ideally I'd like it to have a more reasonable cooldown or have them look at the armour penetration but given that it's conditional I think it's reasonable that they want it to be up whenever you can actually trigger it, and I'm sure they'd have to give him something to replace the amour pen. So I think it's fine given the rest of his kit.
His ult active is fine, and his Q is fine. I kinda don't like how absolutely everything can proc his ult (Trundle pillar, for example) but that's probably just Riot being overly cautious.
It's his three passives, his W, and his E that I hate.
With yasuo alone? Yeah, the prerequisite of needing his knockup punishes missing his q3 harshly, but if you land it, you are rewarded with damage and a massive stat boost.
With an Alistar or Malphite with him? Wow. He can press R. Aaaaaaaaand im dead.
It kinda matters. I think it's stupid that he doesn't have to do anything if his team has tons of knock up but I also think it's stupid that he might have to d everything if his team has no knock up.
The armor pen is the only overbearing with it.
His ult is the least wrong with his kit. Here is a post I made about the kit: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/EYlrIQJn-some-real-thought-on-yasuos-kit
maybe if it didnt extend cc that was already applied it would be less annoying.. you know like fiora's ult (well old ult soon to be).
i still feel yasuo is what riot wanted yi to be.
Yes.
It was literally the only ult I could think of that, at least back when it released, had a requirement outside of range/aiming/resource cost. Forcing his kit to flow together or forcing his teammates to work with him isn't bad or imbalanced designed, in fact I'd argue it's really really good design.
Now on the other hand, if we were talking about his Crit passive, then we'd be on something in terms of being balanced/broken.
