Thank you for the snowball!(not sarcasm)

I was so tired of getting a champ like Udyr or other melee just go against a comp of 3+ poke while my "random team comp" is sometimes entirely melee, it gives us melee a chance in aram and we dont have to get poked/killed/lose a tower the first time we get aced without being able to kill any of them in the process. So once again thank you so much riot! :)

just getting out of a game with darius in aram. one of the most fun games ive had in a while. snowballs rule.

now just to replace flash with a more balanced version of mark/dash on summoners rift (like 800 to 1000 range, longer cooldown). and wed actually have diversity in summoner spells, instead of 10/10 champions picking flash.

if people want escapes, theyd need to pick ghost. if people want to make aggressive plays, theyd pick mark/dash.

You do realize that those champions haven't budged in win rate, right? Meanwhile Mark is taken by about half of players and win rates of already very strong tanks have gone up to almost 60%.

The chance that you get an entirely melee comp was tiny, and most people lose on them because they give up immediately. Mark generally isn't making those teams better while it's destroying the rest of ARAM.

I have gotten all melee comps at least 15 times against all poke comps. I have won 1 of those games. I never give up, though I would have surrendered in those games. I saw one post that had a bunch of people all talking about how "tanks, once they get tanky, just completely dominant the game. Sure, they'll lose a tower or two, but then they win." That has NEVER BEEN THE CASE in my experience. I have 632 ARAM wins, so roughly 1200 games. In that time, I remember 1 time a team with all tanks, all melee, won a game, and it still surprises the hell out of me. Mark is making those teams significantly better. As for win rates, isn't "win rates don't matter where balance issues are concerned" a mantra on some of these boards?

I have not seen one person claim that things have gotten better and cite data.

Udyr's win rate, across all levels of play and all of comps, has gone from just above 40% to just below 42%. It's still total trash.

When your team is literally all tanks and they all build tank you lose because you have no damage, not because you couldn't start a fight. Again, I'm not pretending those aren't harder games. Even so, let's hypothetically say that Mark does make those games easier to play. They're so few and far between that it's not justifiable to screw up every other kind of match up.

This kind of post pisses me off so much. You assume that everyone complaining is complaining because they're ARAM smurfs and rely on high win rate champs to win.

Nidalee has had a 46% win rate for months. Stop bitching about her.

I have never heard people complain about any of those champions - Sion, Nautilus, or Leona - as weak when I play. In fact all of their win rates were above 55% before the patch. Hell Leona's win rate has even gone down.

Least now if we role Nautilus and so forth, our melee champs can fight, and they can win.

And how does this not apply to the very ranged champions you complain about? Nautilus has an easier time locking people down. Everybody capitalizes on it, not just melees.

I have won half the games I have had udyr in aram before the patch. now I just hate aram as counterplay and teamwork is no longer what wins the game.

This.

So much this.

Yes when I got Udyr I couldn't poke, but mid to late game when tower fell, I destroy in those fights cause the poke meant nothing at that point and I could stun their tanks that try to get to my carries.

Now with snowballs flying all over the place, I can't do that. How can I stop a tank from getting to by carry when my carry was hit by that snowball?

The snowball entirely ruins the game mode. It's retarded and it gives me great insight into the minds of the idiots who are deving for the game mode.

It's aram... it's RANDOM.

I think people forget what the word random means.

Mandaari4 votes

Seriously. The likelihood that you get an all melee comp is so tiny that, even if it's as oppressive as people think, it's not worth balancing around.

Anidan2 votes

So... then people who have to be locked into a mostly melee line-up should have to suffer because the enemy team happened to have range? RNGesus had forsaken them, so they must suffer?

Alright. I think I see where this logic against Mark is going, and it's nowhere good.

Mandaari4 votes

Two things:

  1. Mark did not help those melee comps. They're still extremely weak.

  2. Mark changes the game so much that it's not worth the expense just to buff those comps.

Basically, people are very vocal about one very unlikely scenario that didn't get fixed. You might feel like you can engage more, but those comps are still losing.

Personally, I'd rather suffer as a melee comp every once in a while than have Mark in ARAM. That being said, I'd rather get rid of Mark and address the low win rates with appropriate changes.

"The likelihood that you get an all melee comp is so tiny that, even if it's as oppressive as people think, it's not worth balancing around"

So, with that comment there, how would you balance for an all melee comp? How much better of a solution is there really than letting them actually jump into the face of the ranged champions? It's already been demonstrated that items like the horn don't appear to be doing enough, so that's pretty much two separate failed venues of balancing toward those weak melee champions. How many roads are there left to travel that ISN'T going to screw with everything else in ARAM? And why is screwing with everything in ARAM bad? You have some sort of status quo to maintain in a ridiculous game mode or something?

Here you go

If you want to see what the problems are (because it's not engage) and some proposed solutions then scroll down to the bottom headings.

Anidan1 votes

Fair enough. I'm not trying to cause anger or disagree for the sake of disagreeing, by the way.

Well, except the status quo thing. A lot of ARAM players seem to have one going, even if it isn't all of them.

Mandaari1 votes

Which status quo? That range is strong or that ARAM isn't dodgeball?

Singed can be pretty bad in my opinion given certain comps in ARAM. This helps him a lot.

By the way to everyone who say or believe that now melees are too powerful.. guess what? When you roll a melee, pick snowball and have fun! By the way let's talk about how it influences multiple champions shall we?

Annie Has her stun proc ready to go.. your enemy team stays away from you so you can't tibbers.. but wait a sec... you havesummoner 32 to close the distance :D.. let's look at some more... Katarina Is ready to to kill something but the enemy is being smart by keeping distance... kat just used summoner 32 to get close enough for a shunpo.. Don't go and say marksmen are terrible with it either.. Vayne has a 550 range on her condemn.. she justsummoner 32 to your face and condemns you immediately... I know that all of you Nidalee mains out there are probably sad because you can be poked back... but never fear because summoner 32 is here... now you get dash to someones face as cougar form and use an execute.. essentially your execute how has further range than your spear.. Given the correct scenario any champion can make use of the snow ball.. every champion has gained power from it as well.. the snowball is fun.. you just have to learn how to play against it =]
