forgetting smite too punishing

when is this going to be fixed? mistakes happen, and its HORRIBLE design for the entire jg to be balanced off of if you haveitem 1041 item 1039 or not. in season 3-4 forgetting smite was bad enough since you had no obj control and your clears were slow, but now if you forget it then you are essentially down an entire player. red side is just not doable for some champs without smite.

They had to do it because laners were abusing jungle items. Not saying I like it, but it was the only way to make sure non junglers wouldn't build the hyper gold efficient jungle items

Jungle EXP was also changed so ADCs couldn't get a free level 2 before even getting to lane.

really? it must not be working very well because 3 times in the last week ive had an adc come to lane with red buff and lvl 2, that or they take something else too before coming

Shuyin1782 votes

They have to had taken 2 camps. It's impossible to get level 2 off of 1 camp without a jungle item.

Rip my Dorans start on Fiddlesticks Jungle... Huge passive nerf.

It was also done to stop the abusing of double jungle. People would just farm together and get enough exp.

So... you want Riot to rebalance the game with carelessness in champ select in mind...

Forgetting your summoner spells regardless of who you are is a really bad thing.

This isn't a smite specific problem.

But for junglers it is significantly worse. Your clear will not only be slower without the item 1041 and/or item 1039's passives, but you will also lose a lot more health. Due to not having the extra exp from jungle items, you will also be very behind the enemy jungler and of everyone else (peharps even the supports, since they can at least share EXP with the ADC, and earn gold from their support items).

You also lose the valuable passives and actives from jungle items and jungle enchantments. Dueling power from red smite? You can't have that. Extra CC and true damage from blue smite? Sorry. Wards from the green smite? Forget about it. As for the enchantments, most of them are very valuable and necessary. Runic Echoes is a must for champions with AP scalings and mana issues. Cinderhulk is just that good on jungler tanks and fighters, as it allows their tankyness to scale better into late game, not to mention its synergy with Locket of the Iron Solari. Bloodrazor is a must for attack speed reliant junglers as most of them will probably go on-hit with some tankyness. The only enchantment that can be properly replaced with common items is Warrior, but even this enchantment gives a lot of AD for a very low cost.

Without Smite, you also lose the ability to contest objectives. Unless you are a Nunu or Chogath or have a Kalista on your team, you can't really compensate for that. And even with their executes, Nunu and Chogath still take Smite, not only due to the aforementioned reasons, but because even with their executes they still want to ensure that the enemy will not steal objectives.

Junglers lose a lot from not taking Smite. Other lanes do not have their problem because even if they take the wrong spell, this is not the end of the world for them. Not only they don't rely on summoner spells to gain advantage in the game, but also they can actually make interesting strategies even with wrong summoner spells.

For example, a support with summoner 12 will not be crippled as much, as supports don't rely on summoner spells to gain exp, gold, or to unlock items. With summoner 12 a support can actually have incredible map pressure, especially if it is a tank support, because most of them have the ability to chain CC enemies when ganking. The reason why summoner 12 for supports is not meta is because they are better off taking summoner spells that help them pressure the lane summoner 14 or protect the ADC summoner 3, and reserving summoner 12 for top laners which can take better advantage of it.

I mean, yeah, forgetting smite is a big deal. It's literally the jungle summoner spell, obviously there is never gonna be a meta where not taking smite makes sense. This feels like one of the problems that people just need to avoid entirely in champ select

Sexy Jack Rabbit5 votes

I mean the solution is really simple. Pay attention more then 5 seconds in champion select and CHECK YOU HAVE SMITE. Unless you're last pick it takes maybe 15 seconds maximum to be like "Ban - Pick - Check Summs, Masteries, Runes"

Karn Bishop3 votes

You can blame ADC for that actually, quite literally it was ADC abusing core jungle items that forced them to do it, it was the primary explanation they gave for the change.

In fact adc have a habit of stealing lots of things not meant for them and getting them ruined, but hey i'm sure they will figure out a way to solve that by season 40.

Skorch1 votes

I mean I wouldnt blame the class supposed for trying to inhale EXP and Gold, doing all they can to inhale EXP and Gold.

Karn Bishop1 votes

Why not? ADC do it all the time, STOP TAKING MY CS STOP! followed by ping spam retreat signals from fountain.

Skorch1 votes

There is a significant difference, from ADCs acting childish and annoying. And ADCs playing the most gold efficient they can.

I can't believe these posts are unironic

lolipopevelynn1 votes

ya but that is no longer a problem nor are jg items gold efficient on laners anymore. gromp and golems spawn late enough that they cant get lvl 2 before a laner that doesnt take smite, and jg items like elder lizzard have long sense vanished from the game. it just isnt efficient anymore on laners. hell even some jglers skip jg items altogether.

youre punished by losing lp in ranked .

khorney1 votes

i did that a couple times so i bought talis man and jusst went top and supp top and it worked out

Lushington1 votes

There is an easy fix for this. Riot have our Summoners, runes, and masteries saved by role. Boom smite always there when jungle. Of course youll have to change if you swap roles in champ select.

Kloqdq1 votes

Inb4 jungle changes completely in season 8....

(Plz no jungling is a hell hole with the years of changes.)
