Champions were never allowed to excel as much as they do against such a general roster as "all melees" before season 5.
Renekton and Juggernauts gave Riot an excuse to say "fuck it" in regards to top lane. Now ranged are far more common and not even touched on in the way that they used to be. They're only ever nerfed now after being picked in the LCS to show what a binary, one-sided match-up it ends up being. That's only provided there's not another ranged champion that's considered LCS viable that doesn't let you visualize that ranged vs melee match-up, though.
I don't downvote something unless I highly disagree with what's being said. I don't do it to spite someone lol. You can't be a better person by being afraid to express your opinion. I'm not yelling at anyone, I'm not calling anyone an idiot. I'm visualizing my disagreement to others with whatever statements I downvote.
Low pick rate changes nothing. Volibear has one of the lowest top lane pick-rates. That doesn't stop him from being picked into Irelia to create a match-up she literally can't even farm under tower in.
Range is an even more extreme case of this because its such a general strength. It applies against all melees. If you don't have the kit to deal with it, you basically just lose. To make matters worse, a good majority of ranged champs have self-peel now. With slows attached to them on top of it, or at least somewhere else in their kit.
AP Ez is an inconsistent AP assassin. Nothing else. He's not hard countering something out of meta the way ranged are vs melee in top lane.
X being unbeatable with Y champion isn't a problem. **X invalidating Y type (range/melee) of champions in Z lane (top) is a problem. **
Making something unusable is more cookie-cutter than one champion being able to fight someone despite range vs melee discrepancy. Sorry to inform you.
Juggernauts are one thing. But ranged don't stop there. They crush tanks, skirmishers, divers without a way to repeat engage, etc.
I'm so fucking sick of people like you using Juggernauts as an excuse for ranged vs everything else. Its such a poor argument.
