when i use AOE like nasus E it doesnt cause it to break? so whats the counterplay to it? do really have to waste my wither on it? (i play nasus ofc) i wanna know how to bypass this issue. unless im forced to buy a gunblade to break it before my W.
Galaxy brain solution: Take smite and go blue smite.
Nas E should proc it still if you hit them with the E itself rather than the DoT part (and i'm still pretty sure that should do it too unless somethings bugged. Cassio's miasma pops banshees and still grounds.)
Spell shields get fucked by random attacks including 
procs.
Unfortunately yes you'd have to either w or q it. Optimally, a Q would be much better since the lower cd...but w isn't so bad because the cd on banshee's/edge of night is much longer.
The best choice would be
In lane use a w on your target before you plan to actually fight to break the shield if you have that option
or
in a teamfight wait for an ally to break the shield before you wither them
Just go righteous glory. It should be an easy solution I think. Btw you can also proc it with Q.
