Actually look at the games where my teammates weren't 0/13 when I played Pyke.
I'll 5v5 you in Diamond any day of the week.
I actually have a multitude of PERFECT Pyke games. Where I don't: there were 3-4 champs on the opposing team that defy death and make R useless, or there simply isn't a team
Pyke critics are generally correct when they say Pyke doesn't have a damage kit. I can pull it off because of how involved I am in fights, and how fast I reset. But that doesn't mean he can 1v9 games. if your team is always dead, Pyke can't prevent lane pushes, can't hold off drake kills (can attempt to steal). and his cooldowns and damage ratios prevent him from normally solo carrying.
To pull off the damage I do, I have to be in twice as many fights as other champs, take more damage, get out more, and duel more than other Pykes.
In other words..... when your team utterly tanks..... it doesn't matter if you 15/3/15 Pyke..... solo kill 3-4 turrets, etc. You're going to lose because you're in a 1v9.
That's silver Pyke in a Nutshell.
What puts a good Pyke player over 50% in high elo is that his teammates are more often not tanking and are at least pseudo reliable.
I really suggest you try him in both areas before voicing an opinion.
There is differences between Silver and Platinum. Maybe you don't understand the level of the conversation on that.
Maybe I can illustrate the difference in something that comes from League's own mechanics.
If you ever play the practice tool, you'll notice something minions do, because generally, champions aren't disguising the flow of minions.
In Rift, there is an inequality in the distance minions have to travel to get to a turret. It's not by much. But it's there. And it results in an EVERY game situation where Top Queue (Red) minions always push harder than Blue minions. There's the same number of minions. Same spawn rate. But..... the distance difference and trajectory of the minions, when uninterrupted, causes Red wave minions to snowball better, and kill the blue wave a little faster. If you leave the wave like that for about 11 minutes, The red wave will actually take turrets. And once the snowball starts, it will be about 6 more minutes until that red wave takes the SECOND turret.
That's very similar to the difference between Silver and Diamond. Minute differences in decision making make huge differences in outcomes. The problem with low elo is..... those minute differences in play manifest in the EARLY game. If you actually compare mid-late game performance between the two elos, it's not all that different. Fast, 2-5 second fights decide the game, and even nubs generally perform much better because everyone's to some extent deadly.
But those minute differences in early game..... are what causes a win/loss. A mid who doesn't respect the other mid or dives and tries to trade kills 1:1 will result in either a snowballed mid on one side, or both sides, and then when those opponents who got fed encounter the rest of the trader's team, they are simply 1-2 items ahead and cut through whatever kit the rest of the team has like paper. That's not relative to skill at that point. It's relative to who has their starter mobility items and burst damage, and who doesn't.
Also, about 1/5 of the players in Silver are NOT silver. They are an amalgam of smurfs from all elos. So even if you're smurfing, you may very well also get smurfed. Even a Gold Smurf, if in the right lane vs the right opponent, can snowball so fast that a Diamond smurf jungler can get shut down by his bad 0/4 Mid who never leaves lane, never follows his roaming mid, or feeds a triple to a 0/9 Jinx under a turret and gives her a 2-3k Gold takedown sequence that suddenly gives her her IE.
I've 24/3/18'd a Master tier Draven smurf on Morgana once...... because I wasn't laning vs him. He killed my bot but I was mid lane, and slaughtered his jungler and his mid. By the time we met, we were both fed, but I had the stronger disengage cc, so it was a canned fight. And I did this every time he entered a team fight. I wasn't better than him. But I was more influential on the outcome of fights with him.
Lastly, Jokes..... what jokes? Educating isn't a joke. Satyr was never meant to be funny. It was meant to educate and point out legitimate flaws in whatever it was talking about on a social-interactive level.
