Is it me or does Yasuo seem... restricted and a little weak? Maybe small buffs?

Now I am by no means saying he's not strong, in the right comps and with a coordinated team, he can become a monster, but to me his kit seems way too restricted and he seems a bit weak.

He HAS to build crit or his damage steroid in his melee ADC kit(excluding ult bonus) is non exsistent. If he doesn't build crit he doesn't get damage.

I'm not saying that is a bad thing by any means, but this just makes me seem like he HAS to build crit every single game, and the best counter for crit rushers is thornmail as they kill themselves with their own crits.

His passive shield doesn't seem to last that long, it lasts 1 second. It was nerfed from 2 seconds, to 1.5 seconds, to currently 1 second. Wouldn't it be possible to try out 1.5 seconds again to see how it is? His shield shouldn't last 1 second and should be brought up to 1.5, he needs the survivability, especially early/mid.

And the last thing that really makes Yasuo feel incredibly weak right now and generally have health/hp per level seals is his base health. He had his base health nerfed at rank 1 by 50, while that isn't a whole lot late game, it is HUGE early, where Yasuo is his weakest.

Honestly, you don't have to bring the base health back to original values, maybe test giving him 30 back, or 40, that nerf along with the movespeed nerf(also same patch) really made Yasuo a lot weaker early, but his late game was still there in a sense.

He could use small buffs, BUT before it is decided he is buffed we need to test this stuff to know if it will make him overboard, nobody wants Yasuo FOTM again and I sure as hell don't, that was annoying as hell.

Thoughts?

Edit: What's with the downvotes? I'm asking questions and wondering what you all think, downvoting without adding to the conversation doesn't help at all. If you downvote because you hate Yasuo don't vote at all.

Above all else, I think they need to fix his power curve.

Currently, his Passive gives him the power curve of a traditional assassin, bolstering a powerful mid game spike in burst damage. His Q however and his build is that of a traditional melee carry, late game DPS damage.

This really is what it comes down to. He has such as incredibly powerful late game; a knock up on a roughly 3 second cool down, armor pen out the ass, high mobility.........I don't see how you can make him any stronger early without getting him to his late game status too easily.

He does have the highest average kda of any champion because his early game is so bad; but with his lane game as insane and unforgiving as it is, I don't really see a way around it. Buffing him certainly isn't the answer. Kit changes are the only way to go as far as I can see.

yasuos kit is so flawed, design wise, that he cannto be balanced. CANNOT. no matter how you change his numbers. he has to be reworked entirely to make any sense.

His kit seems like to can be balanced, he was just overloaded as hell on release, a passive on almost every single ability.

I do agree he is hard to balance, it takes a few nudges or maybe a huge one, maybe reworking some of his abilities, I am not sure.

answer me 3 questions please.

  1. what is yasuos role?

  2. what does he need to do (use, pay, sacrifice) to fulfill his role

  3. if he cant fulfill his role (too nerfed, getting shut down, just behind in general) what can he contribute to his team?

  1. By role I'm not sure if you mean his role in game or what should he do in a game. Role in game: Melee ADC/Fighter/Assasinyish, What should he do: He should try to protect himself/team with windwall and get behind the enemy squishies and blow them up as soon as he can.

  2. No real escape unless he is surrounded by minions or has a wave to gtfo. Needs a knock up of his own or an ally, without allies he takes roughly 2-4 seconds to get it going. Low base health is current to fulfill his role and needing items to achieve Yasuo state.

  3. He can use windwall every 20 or so seconds to block skillshots or other projectiles. He can suspend enemies up airborne for a lot longer(1 second) so that the rest of his team can go to town. Or he can attempt to split push, which isn't a great idea since he has no true escape.

exactly. dont you see it yourself?

he has no cooldowns and infinite mobility and also some tankyness due to his shield and aside from that, he has very crazy utility with his windwall and ultimate.

this means, if he has enough damage to kill a guy, he will not only kill him but he will do it without PAYING anything for it.

for example, if leblanc assassinates your support right before a teamfight, what can you do? you can go back and give it to her for free, or you can instantly all-in her team because she is on a kinda long cooldown and cant contribute much to the teamfight for a while.

yasuo on the other hand has no cooldowns and continues to charge up his shield during a fight while dishing out his damage. there is no counterplay to it except hardCC but when hardCC is the only counterplay, that is no counterplay - same for kalista.

there is no balance around it. if he cant kill, he failed his role and you better pick someone else but if he CAN kill, then he has no gate to stop him.

you can use this scenario for almost every champion and you will see it applies. everyone has limits but yasuos only limit is in his damage and if that limit is too low, he offers nothing else or at least nothing of one championslot in value.

this leads to yasuo never being able to be balanced. no matter what you change in numbers. the only thing you can do is rework him completely. which would give alot of opportunity to make him more interesting.

As long as they remove that bs 50% armor pen and knock-up synergy Riot can buff him in any way they want
