While I don't recommend the suggested solution, it does speak to an unresolved problem which is substitution of enforcement.
Will is the antecedent of understanding, and as such it can reliably be used as an indicator of areas where insufficient knowledge is present to address matters.
When a player leaves the game, it is the virtual equivalent of an enemy being routed from the battlefield. Morale plays a substantial role in combat fatigue, endurance and the summoner's estimation of victory.
The current policy of attempting to enforce continued play of a losing hand is irrational, and should be dispensed with as an early model subject to refinement.
