only i hate that "everything must have a skillshot" syndrome?
zilean got destroyed, veigar too and now ryze?
zilean got destroyed, veigar too and now ryze?
To be fair, it wasn't the skillshot change that destroyed Veigar.
No it wasn't, but it didn't help...
Because the only counterplay possible is to Dodge said skill shots. You can't buy items that reduce damage or block spells. And Veigar's E, it was fine before the delay. Now it is a hard to use spell. Of course, Annie can get away with her immediate stuns with any of her spells. Counterplay that, riot.
Then people say overloaded mobility creep takes skills, while those "no skill faceroll" champs have to dodge everything that comes in their general direction _Manually _.
The community has its own share of problems too, just like the company itself.
Mobility has to be both strong and brok - ahem, strongest, since why not?
Riot Balance.
And Warwick, the epitome of a simple skillshot free champ.
just imagine
when riot finish the eradication of point and click on this game
Ryze needed this change, and he still has a lot of reliability. W>Q>E>Q in the blink of an eye, root means Qs are guaranteed (unless you are a blind three toed sloth), and W and E are still targeted. E is also more reliable for damage then before, and his team fighting will be better as well.
Zilean? Yeah his bombs are buggy right now and need better target selection.
Veigar? Yeah, I don't like the changes either because it oddly feels like there is less counterplay (can't really deny farm as well anymore).
Count me among the "WHY IS THIS A BIG DEAL" club.
ryze was bullshit
PBE Ryze is testing out pretty well, actually. Might need some numbers tuning, but he's looking good so far, from what I've seen. Something that's tripping him up right now is that his W is not displaying its cooldown properly (as in, the icon won't show that it is on cooldown after use). Other than that, Q being a skillshot feels pretty good, the new passive is quite strong and useful too. --PBE Tester
Riot believes that "skill shots" = talent/skill. (Yes I know skill is in the name but bear with me here) The entire idea of "skill shots" is a misnomer.
I'm going to use sports description when talking about the difference between the two. In basketball there is "talent" and there is "skill". One is a hyper reflex innate ability. The other is a learned ability that takes time and effort. Some players have both in close to equal measure, some have vastly more of one than the other. The best players have both.
Dunking/speed/shot blocking/jumping are examples of talent. Someone going into the NBA with high amounts of these are thought of "projects" or "high ceilings". In League terms, this is Seraph/Faker/Berj/Doublelift. All really good players who have reaction times far and away above what is normal even for the pro level. (Not saying they are all equal just trying to give examples)
Now with "skill", dribbling/shooting/awareness are all examples of basketball skill. Things that if a player is loaded with talent they still need to be great. But it's something that can be learned. Players like Time Duncan had a lot of talent, but it's his SKILL that sets him apart vs someone like Wilt Chamberlain who lived more off talent. In League this is more of the Cop/Mata/IWD/Saint. Players who have more skill than talent.
With more and more "skill shots" added to the game, oddly enough less skill is needed. I know people will say "but landing them takes skill". Yes, but it's more hyper reaction than skill. A better name for it would be something like "projection ability". However that doesn't roll off the tongue that well.
At the end of the day, giving a champion a "projection ability" (skill shot) reduces the awareness of the caster. Before this change to Ryze, you had to have enough skill/knowledge to understand how close you could get. When to strike with your abilities. How, just looking at the PBE, it's more about waiting for him to miss then unloading.

It's only a good thing that these cancer "point-and-click" easymode champs get reworked.
Makes the game better and now at least you have to make the effort and aim. But hey, at least there will always be console games if you suk at aiming.
