Essence Reaver Change Suggestion

Okay so Essence Reaver makes sense as an AD caster item so my ideas that I will bring up will reflect the AD caster of this item. Also a mini-me of an item, think of Essence Reaver as the Grail and the mini-me shall be the Chalice (the reverse of how Chalice to Grail came to be).

Soul Reaver: Recipe: Pickaxe (875g) + 525g = 1400g

Statistics: +25 Attack Damage +UNIQUE Passive: +10% Cooldown Reduction +UNIQUE Passive: +12% Spell Vamp +UNIQUE Passive - Mana Harvest: Physical damage dealt restores Mana equal to 1% to 4% based on damage dealt and missing Mana.

Essence Reaver: Recipe: B.F. Sword (1550g) + Soul Reaver (1400g) + 250g = 3200g

Statistics: +80 Attack Damage +20% Cooldown Reduction +UNIQUE Passive: +20% Spell Vamp +UNIQUE Passive - Mana Harvest: Physical damage dealt restores Mana equal to 2% to 8% based on damage dealt and missing Mana.

Okay so the mana return passive has been changed from basic attack damage to physical damage dealt to make sense as an AD caster item. Also Spell Vamp is better for AD casters; it is a lot less sustain than 10% Life Steal which is why Essence Reaver gets 10% additional Cooldown Reduction; but Spell Vamp makes a lot more sense for the types of champions that want a mana sustain item over life steal (Spell Vamp is less sustain than Life Steal based on how the stats work; it is just more efficient having Spell Vamp for the type of class since they prefer to not use basic attacks / don't use basic attacks often).

Hope you appreciate the idea! ~ Stacona

EDIT (1): Soul Reaver: Loses 5 Attack Damage, so 25 from 30; while gaining +10% Cooldown Reduction as a UNIQUE Passive since it is a low tier item. Changed Essence Reaver remains the same to my changes and the 20% cooldown reduction is not UNIQUE because Essence Reaver is a high tier item.

soul reaver is way too cost efficient. essence reaver outperforms bloodthirster. honestly i dont think it should give lifesteal so early or build out of bf sword.

soul reaver should be long sword upgrade giving some cdr and the passive you have, costing around 1k.

Soul Reaver: Recipe: Longsword (360g) + Longsword (360g) + 480g = 1200g Recipe 2: Longsword (360g) + Faerie Charm (180g) + 660g = 1200g

Statistics: +20 Attack Damage +10% CDR +UNIQUE Passive - Mana Harvest: Physical damage dealt restores Mana equal to 1% to 4% based on damage dealt and missing Mana.

Essence Reaver: Recipe: Soul Reaver (1200g) + Vampiric Sceptor (800g) + Brutalizer (1337g) + 463g = 3800g

Statistics: +80 Attack Damage +20% Cooldown Reduction +10% Lifesteal +Unique Passive: 10% Armor Pen +UNIQUE Passive - Mana Harvest: Physical damage dealt restores Mana equal to 2% to 8% based on damage dealt and missing Mana.

thats if youre really sticking to the whole ESSENCE lifesteal crap. i dont think it really needs it because most guys who buy it dont give a rats ass about lifesteal. I think it should be this:

Essence Reaver: Recipe: Soul Reaver (1200g) + Pickaxe (875g) + Brutalizer (1337g) + 188g = 3600g

Statistics: +80 Attack Damage +20% Cooldown Reduction +Unique Passive: 10% Armor Pen +UNIQUE Passive - Mana Harvest: Physical damage dealt restores Mana equal to 2% to 8% based on damage dealt and missing Mana.

IE Jayce top tier again thank you based god

I like Essence Reaver feeling like the grim reaper and sucking the life force out of your enemies; so sustain makes sense with spell vamp and mana return; plus if you give too many stats it just becomes overpowered; so having the passive apply on physical damage and not just basic attacks and spell vamp instead of life steal just makes it feel better for those that want the item and keeping it in a balanced state

of course we could always just give Soul Reaver 10% CDR and Essence Reaver gets 10% more

you could do that, but it would leave out a good amount of ad steroid spells

what?

the spell vamp is horrible overkill. if you change it to just physical damage, then they will get mana back from abilities that deal physical damage, ie jayce Q. That would be enough. Not sure if the 20% CDR is too much or not, but the 10 seems reasonable if the mana harvest was a little stronger as you changed it to physical damage dealt...in fact i think we could just change it to "damage dealt" and have it increased for damage to champions and decreased for damage to minions.

There is already a one-third effect against minions like life steal and spell vamp; this is mainly an innate minion thing however

spell vamp tiers are 12% and 20%; i am following the same spell vamp tiers as other items; i did mention 10% more CDR can be added since the item grants less health sustain; better mana sustain for the types of champions that want it which is ad casters - also no point in adding all damage and physical damage; it is an AD items so physical damage dealers are the only ones getting it plus it can still proc off basic attacks this way--- Mana Sustain is typically meant to be the most cost efficient stat since mana usually does not correlate to direct combat stats unless you are Ryze; while Health and health sustain grants tankiness

Spell vamp wouldn't do what you want it to do. But otherwise I like.

What I'd do: Pickaxe + item 1004 + Gold = Soul Reaver.

Reduce the on-hit mana regen for mana regen from the Charm.

First off, mana regen does not solve any issues; Second off the item is meant to be an offensive only mana sustain- and be rewarded for using your spells offensively

Spell Vamp heals you for all spell damage that you deal; this is good for what the item should provide which is sustain for ad caster and you may see new champions rise from the ashes because of it; spell vamp does exactly what i expect it to do, it may be a lot weaker than life steal but makes more sense on the item overall and with the changes to the passive

Mana regen would solve many issues actually... Champions who want to use Essence Reaver, like Ezreal and Talon would benefit from a little bit of early regen too. Not their preferred stat, but far from useless. The problem with Essence Reaver is that it doesn't offer much of its desired stats until it's fully built. (You got that with your Soul Reaver idea).

Spell vamp however, would heavily reduce this items effectiveness, by limiting the champions who could use it. Take the same two I mentioned before. Ezreal can't spell vamp off of his Q, and Talon's cooldowns are a bit long to utilize spell vamp. Not mention he's AoE heavy.

Though I'm just naming two champions. Who would prefer the Spell Vamp?

Every single AD caster wants spell vamp-- basic attackers want life steal and if you are a basic attack you would go things like infinity edge, statikk shiv, last whisper, and bloodthirster; casters will get things like this Essence Reaver, Manamune, and Last whisper for example --- life steal is a wasted stated for caster since they dont basic attack; where as the casters use spells more so spell vamp is better even if it is a weaker stat than life steal

and purchasing mana regen you might as well just buy a tear of the goddess for manamune which is a better pure mana sustain item that turns into damage with manamune and muramana; we need to make a difference between manamune and essence reaver

You have a point on Manamune vs Essence Reaver. With that patch, maybe Essence Reaver could have spell vamp. I still don't like the idea personally, but I admit it has potential

maybe I think better like this

Soul Reaver item 3114 + item 1036 + 340 = 1300 +20 AD +50% Base Mana Regen UNIQUE: +10% CDR UNIQUE Passive NAMED: Your basic attacks restores Mana equal to 1% and 4% of the physical damage dealt based on your missing Mana

Essence Reaver Soul Reaver + item 1038 + 650 = 3500 +80 AD +100% Base Mana Regen +20% CDR UNIQUE Passive NAMED: Your basic attacks restores Mana equal to 2% and 8% of the physical damage dealt based on your missing Mana

Because I don't think Essence Reaver needs Lifesteal anymore... all other Lifesteal items can do better... I think what Essence Reaver needs is AD, CDR, Mana Restore and/or Regen... that's it...

another option is making Essence Reaver an AD WoTA (Spell Vamp + CDR) with Mana restoring passive is maybe good too... but maybe hard since there is no pure AD item that grants Spell Vamp for AD casters... but I like your idea except Essence Reaver is 3200 gold... make it little more expensive since it already has it's baby item... and also your passive... not all spell by AD casters deals physical damage (although they can still autoattack to deals physical) like Corki only his E... Kog'Maw spell no physical... Ezreal only his Q...

If you are going to build a pure mana or mana regen item you will just get tear of the goddess and it the most gold efficient item in the game which is manamune and archangels (in this case manamune) and more efficient when it upgrades; if you are paying for mana sustain and no combat stats then the late game investment item is a million times better - we need to separate these two, have them both powerful in their own rights, but still different - if the build paths are too similar then the greater item will only be bought which is tear and manamune we need soul reaver and essence reaver to be on equal terms to tear and manamune and then each completed item have their own individual unique power and of course can go well together (mana restore with muramana's mana cost)

So the higher the item tier the more "gold efficient" the item needs to be; the exceptions to the rule of being gold equal or inefficient high tier items are investment items like Deathcap and Infinity Edge which dont have much power by themselves but with other items with those items; Essence Reaver is not an investment item so it needs to be gold efficient

Let's compare stats: Brutalizer is 1337 gold with 25 Ad, 10% cdr, and 10 armor pen pretty good value Soul Reaver is 1400g with 25 ad, 10% cdr, and 'tier 1' spell vamp and a weaker version of my new mana return passive that is better catered towards ad casters NOW both items are pretty gold efficient and offer different thing, one is more damage and the other grants less damage but more sustain power in health and mana; now sustain values based on damage dealt gain power as you get more damage, so initially they dont have much power the only thing you need to restrict is when they can be purchased which 1400 gold is not a first item purchase because impossible unless the enemy grants you a penta kill before minions spawn so there is no sustain abuse cases

then essence reaver is simply upgrading cdr, spell vamp, and mana return which the gold efficiency is only through spell vamp and mana return upgrades

AP champions can get archangel, grail, or morellos- kog maw is builds AD and attack speed basic attacker OR full AP which he can build grail --- Corki is pretty much the same as kog to a degree- kog makes a better mage however, corki can be very mage-like --- but like champions like khazix, pantheon, and even darius can get this essence reaver and use it better than it is currently; ranged champions are not the ones that have trouble with the current basic attacking for mana, so corki is fine even if he gets this item, again if you are a ranged ad it may be better to go more crit and ad- jayce is different (and half melee) where a lot of his damage is through spells so spell vamp is better --- but someone like corki bt be better for the life steal- ezreal can go spell vamp or bt, essence be better to go with his muramana that he gets lots of the time for mana return to counter the muramana mana cost
