tips and tricks to deal with the new fiora.

since there has been some confusion, i thought id gather what ive learned about her so far.

1.) beware of her level 2 all in, it is strong. and by strong, i mean youll get rekt. depending on how she opens up the fight on you, an auto attack, q, auto attack, e will give her 5 attacks in rapid succession against you. one of them being a crit. if she hits 1 or 2 vitals during that process, youre done. she might not even need ignite.

2.) push minion waves into her. before she gets tiamat or hydra, her waveclear is crappy and she will have trouble pushing back. she also will take a ton of minion damage trying to poke at your vitals or trade with auto attacks, since the process draws minion aggro. so try trading with her the moment you have the overwhelming amount of creeps on your side, or try to kite her back into your own minions. (well, this actually goes for any matchup. but there you have it).

3.) hug the wall. you can protect your vitals by moving it into a wall putting it compeltely out of reach for her. if youre a champion who can fight her head on, this also works for her ult. ive been having trouble with people squeezing themselves into a corner, putting 2 vitals completely out of reach for me when i ulted them.

4.) riposte blocks everything during its duration. literally everything, including champion ults, true damage, and summoners spells. the parry stance lasts for .75 seconds and the ability can pretty much only be used in reaction. baiting it out shouldnt be too hard. some fioras ive seen use it as a poke ability. if you see her doing that, it means shes gonna be vulnerable to cc for the next 15 to 20 seconds. in teamfights your best bet is to sacrifice a weaker cc ability and then rotate to the next one to lock her down or knock her away (especially after she ulted).

5.) bushes dont help against her q. something that will probably be changed soon. but if youre hiding in a bush and she has no vision on you, her q will still stab at you and try to trigger a vital.

edit.: i nearly forgot this

  1. if a weak spot appears in a terrible position on you, move back out of vision range of her, and it will disappear. you can reset the weak spot like this quicker than it would decay on its own and possibly get one in a better position.

this can also be used by fiora herself to get a weak spot thats more accessable to her.

Why would they change her q hitting in bushes? I mean, it is a skill shot. That'd be a stupid change.

its kindof cheesy and reduces your ability to protect your vitals in lane.

riot has stated, that she might actually be too strong after the last set of buffs and bugfixes. they said theyre gonna keep an eye on her. and if theyre gonna nerf her, id rather they touch this part before anything else.

if you want to strike into a bush at someone hiding from you, you can always do it the same like most other champs do and throw a trinket ward in there from a distance.

its a skillshot yes, and no. i dont regard an autotargeting attack that hits your opponent when you just dash right next to a bush as mechanical intensitive tbh. there is an extremely low chance for failure as its harder to dodge than other skillshots.

how to deal with fiora = pick riven

like most of her lanes now, i found it to be a skill matchup. ive beaten her and ive lost trades with her, depending on if i was able to negate her w + q stunlock with riposte and dodge her ult with my q by moving behind her.

the same goes for irelia. you can easily open up a fight on her, and youll win as long as you parry equilibrium strike and keep triggering vitals.

Although I don't have the experience to say how this would go down in a high elo scenario (like, gold and up), I can say from experience that this actually isn't the most practical of solutions. At lv 1 Fiora has better poke against Riven. On top of this, Riven's cc can be predictably parried. In this I refer to her knock up, as there is a jumping animation right before it. The only way to beat Fiora in this instance is to stun her and then go for the third q so as to avoid the riposte.

I honestly find her broken at the moment. I'm a top lane main and can handle any match-up and come out even or ahead in roughly 90% of my games. Sometimes I lay a stinker or I get camped, but not often. This new Fiora though, has everything her toolkit to dominate most top lane champions. Even if you go even with her in lane, her hyper carry potential and team-fight ability mean she comes out ahead anyways.

well. her hypercarry potential is exactly the point of her. shes a melee adc. and actually takes a bit of practise. especially pulling off a good parry.

i dont know honestly if shes too strong or people a bit too inexperienced with her. she seems similar to yasuo, hwere you nearly have to have as much practise fighting her as playing her.

however from playing her myself, those are the things i had trouble with, or could help against her in lane imo.
