Players above your own Division are NOT INVINCIBLE.

I used to get really upset when I found out that my whole team including myself was Silver, and then the enemy team had a couple Plats on it. I'd blame my loss on that.

But today, I was playing Veigar mid against another Veigar, who was newer to the champion. The enemy Yasuo and Ekko got really fed, and they were really good. At one point, I gave the enemy Veigar some pointers on how to play Veigar, since he said it was his first time playing him, and the enemy Yasuo says: "You're Silver 4 why are you giving him tips."

We won the game, and I carried, despite the Yasuo being 4 levels above everyone for most of the game, despite a fed enemy Ekko, and despite having a XERATH JUNGLE (lol). After the game I looked up everyone's stats. Turns out our whole team was Silvers, whereas their team was 3 SIlvers, and then the Ekko was Gold (he was really good so it made sense) and the enemy Yasuo was... Platinum. I'm surprised we won.

So yeah, now I feel like I shouldn't be so upset when I'm matched unfairly, because it is possible to win.

if you're talking about ranked, then your division is meaningless. you get matched with people with the same, or close, MMR as you meaning they are at the same relative skill level as you. just because theyre gold or something doesn't mean jack

MMR has little to do with skill, its only about win/loss

But win/loss has a lot to do with skill?

Winning a game is 20% skill, aka your own skill. You can't control the teammates you get, and matchmaking matches you based on mmr(win loss) of teammates, not their skill level relative to yours. So the majority of win loss is based on chance unless you are significantly better then the elo your in and can solo win (as opossed to winning as a team, considering this is a team game)

yes and no, some games are unwinnable which only balances out after a large number of plays.

so skill becomes the factor when there are countless games played, then its all on the player, but before then its all subject to RNG.

for instance, this game, you have 3 jungle mains, everyone wants jungle, and you end up with a poor matchup top because those are the champions he had, and they just dont perform so well.

or you dont get your prefered role, because you were last pick, now you have to play support and your adc just wants to farm, and you picked leona and didn't go in level 2.

see that, 2 losses right there, off the bat, theres so many factors involved in solo Q, and thats what makes it solo queue, not an accurate depiction of your true skill level.

Not ranked. It was normals.

Same thing applies, assuming everyone has a decent amount of games played.

The thing is you're matched w/ people by MMR, so if you're in the same MMR then on average they are playing the same way you are. Unless someone plays a lot of ranked and gets better in ranked, then goes back to normal where they have much lower MMR then there shouldn't generally be an issue with skill. Almost always when I play normals I play stuff that I can't play in ranked bc I'm not strong enough on it and it doesn't fit my play style, but the champ is just fun for me. My normals MMR is way below my rank I'm pretty sure, and so if someone who is bronze is playing me then there is a decent chance they'll win on their main, and they're only likely to be in trouble if I'm duo w/ a friend who asked me to play my main.

I've never understood why people worry about rank differences. The only rank difference I tend to worry about a whole lot is when I'm in ranked and there are 4 people similar rank to mine on the enemy team and one guy WAY lower rank with few games played. Fucking smurfs man, that moment when you know they aren't duo, they just have super high MMR and are probably on a second account so I'm about to have a hard match up.

I used to play normals in a 5 man with some friends. We were 3 golds and 2 silvers. We stopped playing because most my friends did not like that we were getting put up against 2-3 diamonds every other game, even though we won a good number of those games.

One of those games they pushed into our base pretty early and were completely stomping us. Just as we were about to surrender their diamond Renekton said "Just surrender already, you suck." I was like, "Alright, we are going to win this game now." the rest of my team agreed. Somehow we came back and won. The Renekton was pretty salty.

Yeah, diamonds are hard to deal with, but plats are okay if there's only one of them usually. It sucks when you get counterjungled by a diamond evelynn and then they insult you the whole game though.

Honestly you can't tell from rank how someone will do. I know diamonds who play normals just to mess around. Since they're not tryharding or anything they're actually about as useful to their team as I, playing at my normal level (ie, trying harder than them) am.

That Yasuo is just the person who plays flavor of the hour champs to win. They don't know what fun really is......

Silver 2, Silver 1, Plat 5, Plat 2, Dia 4 vs Gold 4, Gold 5, Plat 5, Dia 1, Masters

Luckily we had the stupidity that is Master Yi so we pulled through but after that game I don't think broken matchmaking will affect me anymore.

C, had a game last night where we had 3 Bronzes and 2 silvers, and they had 4 silvers and 1 bronze. We won, though the early game was rough.
