Season 6 going in the wrong direction

I understand and support the idea to rework Marksmen to make each more unique and stuff. But I don't understand what that has to do with:

  • Changing items like Trinity, Gauntlet and Black Cleaver to suit them more while these items are more bruiser/offtank oriented so in the first place not even meant for adc's.
  • All these mages changes to make them completely unviable. Why all these changes to a class that is pretty balanced? There are no mages on the highest ban chart (except Veigar for a while but that was very shortlived).
  • Buffing MR items
  • Simplification of the masteries. There are now way less masteries, hence less choices to make. I know a lot of the masteries have small impact, but are still pretty decent options on a lot of champs. The keystone masteries highly favorite marksmen because they will get the strongest options due to your obsession with 'every 3th attack' bullshit.
  • Making AD items overloaded with stats. They are literally getting a collection of the best items ever introduced. I have seen this misstake like 100x. Instead of making champs and adept items accordingly you make broken items and then adjust champs respectively.
  • Every AD champ getting easy access to 100% crit chance?
  • Making every other class even more disproportionally worse than adc's while adc's have been historically since Season 1 the most important and mandatory class already!
  • More nerfs to armor, better armor penatration, more items/masteries to deal higher damage vs tanks. Like they didn't get 3 shotted already in lategame.
  • Even better sustain for marksmean while they already deal their damage from a far and give them more abilities to kite you.
  • I am pretty sure the list goes on and on but you get the point.

It seems like the entire game now revolves around Marksmen (even more) and everyone and everything has to change to suit them. ADC's will become by far the best class in the game, hence you can pick 3 adc's and 2 supports to engage and peel for them. My believe is that Riot is trying to make ADC's viable as solo laners. They will completely outcroud every other class in the game. I think you are gonna lose tons of players during preseason 6 if you keep going in this direction. The game will enter in its most unbalanced state ever.

It's nice having role security. The only problem I will have now is deciding who I peel for. Should it be the mid ADC, top ADC, jungle ADC or bot ADC?

Step one: save the most fed adc Step two: repeat steps one through two

Massive amount of crit, lifesteal, defensive mechanisms, perma GW on last whisper, and still more nerfs to Armor which has clearly been crap ever since its been nerfed for no reason. Quality balancing, this is a preseason to remember. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/6mtUyXOC6qA/hqdefault.jpg

Sadly the only good buff to any other class is that Frozen mallet is actually at a price range where it is feasible to buy.

Even worse will be the fact that it is almost completely necessary to lock down these heal monsters riot has created. Every build pretty much gets 2 life steal options naturally along side having hurricane on all the high DPS champions. Then they throw in the fact that you get 15% of crit damage back as life steal as well. This isn't even the fact doran's now gives 3% life steal and the vamparism mastery.

So the only way to counter adc's is by playing adc's because they get an item to inflict grievous wounds on every AA.

Assuming you reach a decent crit chance, which is easy now, thats like getting 30% lifesteal for free. Absolutely fucking retarded.

Oh, you had to slip that one in there, didn't you?

I want you to imagine a system that a group of people who are in charge of balancing cant balance, but can shift flavor of the month, and completely overpowered entities into. I want you to imagine that these flavor of the month (FOTM) and overpowered (OP) entities can be bought with money, and that they can be accessorized with money.

I want you to imagine that there are people who "jump" on to FOTM and OP entities, and do so with the aforementioned "money."

I want you to imagine that the people who "balance" things, who cant balance things, but can create FOTM and OP entitiey shifts, are aware of the money that can be acquired from people who jump onto these FOTM and OP entities.

Now imagine if they could, and do, create NEW FOTM, and NEW OP instances, wait for them to be jumped on, make money, then revert, then repeat with a new flavor as the well runs dry.

Theyre not trying to balance things, theyre trying to create a market for POWER. Power people dont have, but WANT RIGHT NOW, and MONEY can buy that POWER RIGHT NOW.

You may notice that often the abuse-able kits/champs are simple to use, and the skill ceiling need to win with the abuse isnt very high... making it just attractive enough to pick up and use for short term gain before its "fixed."

Recently it was Jugernauts, now its marksmen, it will cycle back around to:

"The mages were hit really hard by the season 6 item reworks, so were throing a few buffs to the hardest hit champions."

BOOM, 3 OP new mages from being over-buffed, and 3 new FOTM champs some people buy with RP and buy skins for.

Wait, watch, see.

First there was a Juggernaut update + some items that are fit for bruisers/juggernauts. Now ADC gets some more options which was needed seeing how boring ADC itemization is right now. 'It's not meant for adc's' well now it is.

Banrate =/= OP/UP, especially when it comes to soloQ strength. The best mid champions for soloQ are 1. Lux (54% winrate 63 avg. games played) 2. Ahri (53% winrate 77 avg. games played) 3. Anivia (53% winrate and 92 avg. games played) 4. Annie (55% winrate and 84 avg. games played) - guess what all of them are mages.. The no. 5 is Talon (54% winrate on 108 avg. games played) - mhh. Compared to all these midlane assassins the mages have a higher winrate but on the other hand less avg. games played - newbies on Mages perform better than experienced assassin players. But seeing how it doesn't look impressive they don't get banned unless they are so OP that they get picked up in proplay.

The masteries actually give you way more choices to make, seeing how there now are more super-masteries and there is no Attack/Defense tree anymore which lead to 21/9/0 for pretty much every offensive champion. However, bcuz of the changes even champions within the same class are going to have different masteries. Also I am not sure whether masteries are going to positively impact marksmen.

We've had the Juggernaut updates + Bruiser items and now ADC updates + items are coming. What's going to follow is probably Tank updates + items/Mage updates + items and assassin updates + items (order unkown). On the long run there will be more meaningful options for every class which is something I love to see. The immediate future, however, is going to be unbalanced for at least 1/2 patches, that's right.

ADC itemization is already broken af. This is only making it worse. What other class is allowed to buy a standard build and get everything they want. ADC's build a standard build and get crit, AD, AS, Lifesteal all because the items are just made to be a simple path towards all the stats. Its bullshit and what they should be doing is making it so that like the rest of the roles they need to decide if they want lots of AS or Lifesteal and not just automatically get both. Or something similar.

Thunderlord's Decree is definitely not the strongest mastery...

Also, have you actually played these changes on the PBE or are you just complaining based on words on paper?

It honestly feels like Riot is focusing too hard on Marksmen this preseason. They're forgetting about the other classes. Hopefully once this patch goes live & we're getting but games full of marksmen,Riot will realize they neglected their other classes.

Just a question but wouldn't the 10% cdr benefit bruisers, and mages more than the 25ap?

ihaveapotion1 votes

High cc assassins will become the new measure against this retarded forced adc meta, the whole game will start to revolve on who gets oneshot first. Making this game more shit than cod.

Croanin1 votes

Riot seems to be doing what Blizzard does which drives me crazy which is fixing what isn't broken. ADC item diversity is an issue that needs to be addressed, that's about it. Some vision changes perhaps.

1: I Agree 2: They are probably currently to strong, or Riot thinks they will be, so they nerfed them to compensate. Also on the note they increased how much gold you will get in a game across the board, (Bounty's also now give the team global gold , not the specific champion). 3: They buffed banshees, that's it. (As far as I an can remember) 4: Masteries seemed more like a number crunching buff that you needed to calculate for every champion to get the perfect buff (since they are VERY minimal) Now they actually have a real impact on the game past the 5 minute mark. Also the "3 Attack Bullshit" , DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY FUCKING SKILL SHOTS THEIR ARE? 10x the amount of 3 attack hits, it's just a mechanic deal with it. 5: It's pre-season they will adjust as needed we have THREE months to balance it out. 6: Again it's pre-season 3 months to balance it out. Generally things are purposely strong at the start to see how much tuning down they need. 7: Again it's pre-season 8: Nerfs to armor due the last whisper change only being bonus armor. 9: Pre, SEASON 10: It does go on, and Riot appreciates your feedback, but at least test the changes, and give constructive feedback besides "ADC'S are goanna be fuckin OP"

I'm reading all of these "marksmen are way to focused they will be the main role blah blah to powerful" threads (dont get me wrong they make valid points), but I'm just sitting here as an Elise main who duo's with a Brand mid (stuns for days for that early gank). I don't care who you put in a lane, as long as they dont have a QQS at level 3, they are getting damn cocooned.

What changes to item 3025 item 3071 make them into adcs items? IBG is having offensive stats removed entirely in exchange for more CDR and the slow field scaling from bonus armor. BC is gaining 15 AD, losing 100 health, and costs 500 more, a simple nerf to the item as a whole which is probably deserved. Neither of those changes made them more appealing to adcs. If anything, it made less less appealing. Triforce is the only item on your list where that complaint is valid.

And please, armor penetration isn't getting buffed. It's getting a massive nerf. 40% bonus armor pen is worth less than 35% total armor pen at any armor value below 1000. And against squishier targets, armor pen is getting an absolutely massive nerf.

Harrada1 votes

Honestly I am incredibly disappointed with what they are doing. I have enjoyed League of Legends for 4, almost 5 years now, and season 6 does not look like League of Legends. It looks like a game I have no interest in playing.

PDE5 Inhibitors1 votes

What nerfs to armor? I didn't see any armor items getting nerfed, in fact 1 even got buffed. Penetration is better? Last whisper got a big nerf in that it only effects bonus armor, not total. Please explain why you said these things.

I'm not seeing the massive buffs for ADCs, am I reading something wrong? Mages got fucked, yes...but I don't think tanks got fucked and ADCs got buffed.

VasilisGreen1 votes

Well, i will have to disagree on the armor pen part. As an assassin main, Zed to be precise, the armor pen change is bad. Most bruisers/tanks have high base armor and with the change to last whisper and it's upgrades, that armor pen is nerfed. It is a proper nerf to compensate for the newfound power of those ADCs but a COMPLETE AND UTTER DISASTER for all the other AD classes like bruisers and AD caster assassins like zed and talon. And that change to graves is just insane... 30 armor stacking to 120??? And with his 78 base armor at lvl18 and scaling runes it gets to 223??? Seriously? And Draven has 81 base armor at lvl18. So, when all those ADCs have high base armor stats and last whisper only penetrates their bonus armor, what are assassins going to build to do their job??? Let's say i am zed in a team with a shen top and a shyvana jungle. 2 tanks that are very god on shutting down my targets. Let's say their support is leona. Now, i can get garen rush in and silence leona and then i jump on to the enemy ADC and kill them while leona is silenced and has to deal with garen. Then i jump back and let my Jungler and ADC clean up the rest of them while i wait out my cooldowns to jump back on to their midlaner. All this is supposed to happen very fast, and it actualy happens with the current items. The enemy Draven has 81 base armor and scaling runes for a total of 108 armor. I have last whisper and and 39 flat armor pen from my runes and youmu's. With my current masteries, Draven has a total of 27 effective armor and that is 22% damage reduction. With the same runes and masteries but the new last whisper upgrade, i get 40% of his bonus armor ignored. that means that he will now have 58 effective armor which makes for 37% damage reduction. That's almost as much as an exhaust.... How can i jump on to a target with this much armor and kill them while my teammate keeps the rest of the enemies busyand get out in time or die, and help therest of my team clean up??? You guessed it, i can't... What if this Draven has also a GA? this makes his total armor value a 158. This means that his new effective armor is 88 for a damage reduction of 44%. Now what??? You understand that being an AD assassin will no longer be viable at all. On the other hand, AP assassins like Akali and Leblanc will have no problem in their job since magic resist is 30 for most champions and void staff will work as it does now. So, what about the AD assassins? What is an assassin that cannot assassinate? This rework defines the whole purpose and balance of the game and the other classes. An ADC is a champion that does damage from distance but is fragile and if that distance is closed then it's over. Assassins are champions that are mostly melee and their sole purpose is to find easy to kill targets and eliminate them fast and clean but are weak against cc and easy to lock down. Tanks are supposed to soak up damage while weakening the enemy team for their caries. And mages are meant to do a lot of AOE or single target damage from medium range and also having some innate cc and control the fights, also secondary carries if the ADC isn't strong enough. That's how it should be and that's what it will NOT be after that patch.
