If Support Singed is bannable for troll pick

Does this mean I can get banned for playing melee toplaner this season?

It wasn't picking Singed that got him banned. It was that he was trying to be a second jungler instead of supporting that caused it. Had he gone any meta support and done the same the ban still would have happened.

This million times. I dont understand why people jump into conclusions and think he was innocent. Go dig the reddit post, you wont find anyone playing with his support singed to have a good experience. Quite the opposite.

Also he mostly played top singed, and when he was assigned as support he was doing this. His "support" singed w/r is nowhere close to 50% due to his top equaling it out.

ShaolinToilet5 votes

Where are the statistics that proved he mostly played top singed? If you put top and fill you will get support most of the time which proves the opposite of what you said.

Doesn't matter where he mostly played. If someone mostly plays what ever role and wins most of their games but then decides to intentionally feed and use racial/homophobic slurs they're going to get banned too. "Most" is irrelevant.

When did he intentionally feed and use slurs?

When did he intentionally feed and use slurs?

My bad for not making that part clear. I'm not saying this particular Singed player intentionally fed or used slurs. I'm saying that those are also things any player could get banned for regardless of their win rate. What the Singed player did is just another thing where it doesn't matter if he was winning, he was completely disregarding the system in place to determine fairly who gets what role in the game. That is bannable.

Champion Skin5 votes

Well that's because there is no system where you choose to have two junglers... so the only way is to go support... There are 4 sources of gold... 3 lanes and the jungle... there is no particular reason the support has to go bot lane... (this is why he isn't top/jungle)

He is supporting his team by wasting the enemy time and putting the enemy jungler behind... if it is effective or not I don't really know but not like he is trolling or feeding

And that's the problem. Playing double jungle is technically "out of the meta" but there's absolutely zero option for it, enforcing the meta of Top, Jungle, Mid, ADC, and Support

There IS an option for it. Ask your team mates if they're okay with it. If they say no, you have your answer.

The problem is that they will never say yes. Much like if I ask to have Yasuo open for me.

Then perhaps you should find a group of players (2 friends would be enough) to play with. 2 friends plus you is more than the majority. If your friends go Jungle and Bot and you go Support then you have everyone in place to make this off-meta practice work and everyone necessary knows what's going on.

Problem solved and you didn't have to be an asshole or get banned.

"Then perhaps you should find a group of players (2 friends would be enough) to play with. 2 friends plus you is more than the majority. " You're talking about Riot here, who requires a 4 out of 5 majority for surrender. No, 3 is not enough.

Dude half the time my teammates complain when I play Meta stuff they don't like. I'm not going to be held hostage to the whiners in ranked queues because they may not like me playing teemo, nasus, brand support, varus, galio, and so on.

I have had people report me for STOMPING my lane as Galio as carrying a game, but they were so salty I picked it, they were determined to report me anyways, even asking the enemy team to report me...for carrying the game.

You can't just go on the whims of what someone else wants you to play.

you do realise that he was winning almost every game? with a high kda?

warpenguin55515 votes

Winning doesn't Excuse putting a team mate through hell and KS us an even worse excuse. He was told not to do it by multiple team mates and he refused to cooperate. Deserving ban

typical like in ranked and i dotn pick a tank supp because since no one likes to supp why do i have to do that why cant i play as janna.... no one likes to supp period no one does hence why there is always a quick que time for supp becuase no one likes to do it so dont harass the supp becuase he didnt pick who you wanted him to pick

warpenguin5558 votes

I do support actually. I'm a level 6 Bard Braum and Tahm Kench and have level 5 on Leona Nautilus and Morgana. Support is my secondary role

khorney2 votes

then why do u care on who a person picks.......

warpenguin55510 votes

The Singed pick is not the problem. The problem is that he queued for support and did not support. He jungled. He was banned because he refused to play his assigned role

EDIT: omg i cant type, see the quote below this post and you will see why i fixed this

#THIS

I don't understand why people aren't getting this? Did you all fail school? This is a basic concept. It is against the rules to take a role you are not assigned unless you are granted permission by the rest of your team. The Signed player did just that. You can claim he was "Supporting by winning". That's like saying "I'm earning my money by stealing, it's off meta but it works so it's okay!".

EDIT: I fixed your typo in mine too ;) Also, the final word on the ban was refusal to communicate. He did not communicate with his team his intended play which is part of why he was banned.

Riot themselves said that they wouldnt enforce a meta and when league was first out there was no meta. People did whatever and no one threw a fit. Forcing the game into 1 top/jung/mid and 2 bot is by every definition forcing a meta. The new queue streamlines it a bit but there was a time when such a thing hardly existed. If someone wanted to double jung ( which isnt meta, but good thing its not enforced right?) then what are they supposed to que as? top? adc? Or should double jung just never ever happen because its not meta? Sure riot can do whatever they want with their game but they constantly say one set of things while acting on a different set of things.

They should find 2 friends who are willing to practice this strategy and take the 3 positions which it will effect. Jungle, Support, and Bot.

Maybe it's been too long and you forget but the days where you queued and had to call out where you wanted and yell at each other to fight for your main role were pretty shitty days. The role assignment system is infinitely better and these rules are in place to ensure it works.

Penguin Êmperor4 votes

What if he doesn't have two friends around? Guess he just better not play league then. And given his mastery and singed play rate that seems to be the most probable outcome. Its not like league is already dying in NA or anything. Why is there a meta being enforced in the first place when riot has specifically said it's something they won't do. Hell they even defended the right to double jungle in the past . The real problem here is that they flat out lied/ 180ed out of the blue.

It's a video game. Unless explicitly stated otherwise (and it isn't) The only rules should be the physics of the game and instances of written harassment. What my adc wants shouldn't matter because I'm the one playing the role. Was their intention with dynamic queue to say " play this way or dont play"? if so they lied about it then.

And i do remember the old ranked que. I kinda prefer it. I spend so much damn time waiting to play the game that i probably would have more non sup games in the old que, assuming that 1/5th of the time i was playing sup.

Jax the Stampede3 votes

"What my adc wants shouldn't matter" - I agree. I'm support, not ADC babysitter. I had a guy last night tell me (and this is close to ver batim) "you're support, you're supposed to stay with the ADC and NEVER leave him. You're job is do what the ADC tells you." I laughed at him then continued to do what I was doing. Afterwards everyone thanked me for the carry. Turns out, supports know how to support better than the non-supports do. Who'd have figured?

META = Most Effecient Tactic Available

Lol... what? That isn't what Meta means at all.

Lord Kry4 votes

It is 100% OK to break the meta, and do anything you want in the game, as long as your TEAM is ok with it, duo top, duo jungle? It doesn't matter as long as EVERYONE is ok with it, if your the support and want to double jungle, then everyone needs to be on the same page. If you just say your going to do it and they don't agree that is ban-able. If you want to guarantee that you can do things like that, you can use flex queue for things like that. Not everyone is going to like your ideas about meta shifts and I think it is fair to say that you won't be able to do that in every game.

D357R0Y3R7 votes

it does escuse, i would gladly have this singed with me, let him carry the game while i focus on surviving botlane and do my best to help him.

shut up now, ty.

warpenguin55513 votes

No. It doesn't. Porn star zilean has a win on disco nunu. Does that make what he did there all good? No. Trolling is trolling. Win or lose its still banable. I've played over 100 games just doing off meta shit and I have never even got a warning. And I never will be banned for it because unlike Singed Guy, I play the role I'm assigned. I don't go and jungle if I'm given support, I play what I'm given. Players like him make players like me who play off meta shit for fun and to see if we can find a hidden OP look bad. A good chunk of meta breakers don't try what he did because we are not trolls. He gives players who enjoy breaking the meta a bad name and that pisses me off. Good Riddance.

Odinakos10 votes

Yeap, i am both in favor in his ban and offmeta picks. Heck one of my funnier loses stomps (no irony, i had a trully good time) was supporting an adc Ahri with Leona. The puzzle of how to make this work was really interesting. I talked with him at select to provide him a proper support. Welp ended pretty bad but hey i learned something! Leo is a bad support for ahri. Would recommend Karma or Nami.

Ha1man3 votes

This is exactly the problem.

For all of their chest-pounding in 'not enforcing a meta' Riot will ban you explicitly for not following the meta.

So rito are basically saying: 'you must babysit bot lane, peel for your ADC, and be a ward bot. Everything else is not considered support and will get you banned'. Not to mention that they doubly reinforced it by ironing out the roles in team builder. You can't have a team with two ADCs without that being a bannable offense.

Then, of course, Riot will use the meta as excuse for crappy balance, like ADC being ridiculously OP and the whole game revolving around them.

thats a good one.

Dukues23 votes

You do realize he was punished for picking support and not actually supporting right? Not just because he was playing singed support...................

Hardstuck G412 votes

Well, considering the fact that there's no option in any queue except for blind queue for his playstyle, I think it's fair he picked Support

Sona Ping12 votes

His playstyle was "wander aimlessly around and take camps from his own jungler". I think it's fair that is not option.

Battlecast Sona7 votes

Just like in any game where you want to do a weird PvP strat, the option is to play with your friends/clubmates/random people on reddit.

If all the people that come white knight these threads just added each other in game and queued up together when they wanted to play roaming teemo support, people wouldn't get banned for it

Hardstuck G45 votes

And what if no one's around to play? Or there's no one around your rank who wants to play with X champion in Y role?

Battlecast Sona6 votes

then just like in an MMO, you either A) queue solo and deal with the consequences or B) don't queue. This guy wasn't permabanned (2 week suspension in the email) and they very clearly told him what the issue was.

I mean shit I'm a support main, I love picking weird off-meta supports, but I very rarely do it unless I'm duo with my ADC. That's all it would've taken for this guy - get an ADC to duo with you, have them pick something that can 2v1 safely, profit.

Xonra10 votes

So does that mean I can start reporting all those Alistar that roam 90% of the time, despite it feeding our mid lane and helping our jungler? Because technically he isn't supporting.

No of course not, because everyone is fine with that instance.

how about Quinn picking top but spends more time roaming than top? Is that bannable now too, because it is the same thing realistically.

No again? Oh right, it is only okay or not okay based on the whims of random people and not actual logic.

Marshbouy4 votes

There is a difference between picking a champion and playing out of role, AND REFUSING TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE TEAM.

Xonra9 votes

You are honestly mostly assuming to be honest. The guy told them what was up, and since Riot TELLS YOU to mute toxic and flaming teammates, I imagine that is exactly what he did when they started having a panic attack over him picking singed support.

Playing something in a way people don't like is not the same thing as "refusing to communicate" and the fact that Riot is labeling it that way is setting a real bad precedent to be quite honest.

The current "from riot" until they say otherwise is that "if the other 4 people on your team don't want you to play the pick, then playing the pick is bannable".

Please correct me riot, but atm you haven't.
