something needs to be done to make the support role more interesting.

Its getting extremely annoying when people are treating the support role as a second mid lane. no one actually supports and only pick the damn role because the que pops 50% faster than other roles. Fill doesnt event function properly because 99% of the time its going to fill you as a support. so most of the time you just see burst mages bot lane "supporting" the adc, Thats not called supporting, thats called a kill lane. and if you fail at actually killing the enemy they will just snowball all over you because you couldnt snowball as Annie or Xerath support, and your poor adc feels it the most.

then you get shit like Sona who is an actual support but they build full glass canon. fuck the support items and fuck sight stone. I really think something should be done about this.

I personally regard Support as a role made for those who love to hurt people as much as they hate last-hitting, where you can focus solely on fighting the enemy laners.

In my eyes, the requirements of the Support are as follows:

  • Show up to lane. Besides afks and trolls, this mostly applies to novice Bards
  • Don't take cs while your adc could take it
  • Buy a gold-generating item. This is mainly because you're just hurting yourself if you don't. Doran's Rings are big middle fingers to the adc
  • Buy a sightstone and use it. Not even Teemo has enough shrooms to replace the vision that wards offer.
  • Provide something for your adc, anything to establish lane presence and either get them kills/assists or an easier time farming. This includes poke

Past that, everything is up to the player's discretion. Supporting a team with damage is a perfectly viable option as long as the above criteria are met.

You don't quite understand how the queue system works if you have to question why "fill" gives support so often.

If there's 90 teams with 4/5 missing a support, then the system is going to heavily prioritize ANYONE willing to support (by picking it or "fill") to fill those teams up. Fill functions PERFECTLY fine. The problem is how players perceive the role. Many think it's boring or whatever, and don't really understand how to perform well in it. It's possible to carry, even on non-burst mages. 0/1/35 is carrying, if you have kept your carries death counts low.

Good luck with that, People don't play Support, Not because they arn't interesting, but because they can't carry. You also can't knock annie, since she actually has been a support pick for the LCS, pretty much from her Tibbers stun on it's own. And that would be useful fed or not.

And the fact that most Supports can't actually carry, makes them near useless when the ADC completely botches their lane. Even for a support main, if they have trust issues, they will probably lean towards someone who can take over if the ADC f*cks up.

People get so obsess with winning that they feel that they must carry. Which is why the Q is showered with Tryhards. But that's why I can actually enjoy playing support, cause I'm not a try hard. I don't care if I clime the latter, and it's not about if I win or lose, I play the support role, because I enjoy it win or lose.

Im a support main. It's true that you can't carry, but if you ward and help as you can, if the rest of the team aren't full of bad player, the good one can carry and you can help them to do so. If the adc is done, the laning phase is probably finished. So just help the rest of the team and, if possible, the adc to progress in the their build by cc/peel... And win the game. To conclude, as a support do all you should do is 1:ward and deward (sightstone/Oracle) 2:assist others by cc/peel/heal/burst 3:ks and kill ONLY if you know that the adc or you or another one will die if you don't do so. 4:ping, you ping when missing, you ping objectives... 5:build that support item, it's better than the dorans in all aspect when upgraded.

That is a way more difficult to do correctlybrhan solo lane in some aspect so try it out,and you will see.

  1. P.SAnnie and Xerath can be good supports. Annie: HUGE burst and cc at lv 6, if you land the tibbers in both and the adc follow = most likely to get a double kill. Xerarh: If he can handle mana, he has the longest poke in the game + can catch the one under turret recalling.
