Why is a good ult on anything but an APC as Kennen so unrewarding?

I just had one game where I was 4-2-4 as Kennen against 3x ADC. I baited Janna's ult, waited for all of their mobility to be down, and got a perfect full duration ult on all three ADCs.

They sat in it and just life stealed through it, completely ignoring me. I died almost instantly as I came out of Zhonya. It's the exact same problem with bruisers and tanks; his ult is high risk (often suicide) and very low reward, because the only thing that will take meaningful damage from it is an APC.

This is really dumb, especially considering Kennen's entire contribution to his team is his ultimate.

My team was already engaged and set them up for me to ult on them. The problem is that my ult did nothing useful, even though it was perfectly executed as soon as possible.

Obviously you didn't execute it perfectly if your team was already fighting and that didn't cinch the fight. Your ult comes with a stun , you know.

Honestly ult + protobelt with a good amount of ap deals a heavy amount of aoe damage. I'm not sure what items you had and what items they have but kennens ult deals a heavy amount. The base damage on that thing is not the best for a dot but the ap ratio on it scales to 150% so he's able to deal 1k+ damage to multiple targets. But it's like I said kennen needs to get ahead in a game or be relatively farmed and itemed up to do anything.

It could be because the damage to 1 target is 100% 75% 50x4 = 375 6 hits as 100+ 250 75+250 and 50+250 6 hits damage seperated in damage if you hit them with a full 6 procs zhongya's is nice but you need to use your W to proc on everyone inside your ult. You'll be getting all your energy back anyways xD

He's all about knowing when to go in and no he's not just about his ult he can provide many things to a team with his uniqueness in what he can build

It could be because the damage to 1 target is 100% 75% 50x4 = 375 6 hits as 100+ 250 75+250 and 50+250 6 hits damage seperated in damage if you hit them with a full 6 procs zhongya's is nice but you need to use your W to proc on everyone inside your ult. Dunno why he's being downvoted. Lifesteal is at all time bullshit levels this season. Some champs struggle just to break a stupid bloodthirst shield. Great time to be a right clicker.

Have none of you tried to engage with a Graves only to see him heal like 25%/30% of his damn lifebar in one auto attack? Or tried to fire off a spell rotation on a carry only to literally see the health bar play whack-a-mole between spell impacts because they are auto attacking and lifestealing the damage of each spell between casts?

The whole time they are right clicking people for just as much or more damage as an AP does in a spell, except twice per second. I'll let you know next time I fire off a spell on something other than Veigar that chunks someone for 1500.

Pretty much this, unless you insta burst them while CC'd, they'll heal up between hits. The fact that item 3139 is actually really strong, doesn't help either.
