Carry+Support Mid Lane?

Who do people never do this? Mid lane is still close to dragon for early game control, the lane is shorter = safer, no close bushes would counter some matchups like vs. a Thresh or Blitzcrank, ward-bot support has better access to the whole map to provide vision.

What is it about the bottom lane that made it "the carry+support" lane?

The AP carries would not be as safe if moved to bot lane, plus they lose the freedom to roam (which is often their strength). ADC+Support wants to farm, not roam, so they have no reason to be mid lane over bot lane.
