What is the point of Diana's Pale Cascade mechanic at this point?

After playing a lot of Aurelion and encountering a Diana, it made me wonder why her shield even features the three orbs any more. When they moved slowly and were further away from her there was some sort of gameplay there (and I suppose it'd play up her weird angle mechanic too - she can't aim left, and her point-blank ability rotates in a specific direction too).

But after so many "quality of life" changes, buffs, etc, it's now so fast and close to her that they pretty much instantly detonate when she Lunar Rush's on someone - or, at least, there's nothing visually interesting happening.

So... why isn't it just a bubble that pops when she bumps into someone? There comes a point when the ability's been simplified to the point when the complexities seem superfluous.

It forces her to use the shield -relatively- offensively. She has to be able to stay in range for 1s-, to get the damage and second shield proc. It's not incredibly unique, but it's effective.

It's not that it's not unique - I'm not comparing her to Aurelion because he does it too. It's the fact the gameplay there seems to be pretend. And if the original point of the ability (and purpose of all the changes it received) is to encourage her to go toe-to-toe, then why not just make it a single bubble around her that explodes when she hits someone? Turn her into a single, mobile orb rather than having three orbs orbiting her.
