Fiddle's ult question

Why isn't it stopped by roots? It is mobility roots prevent you from dashing/blinking.

I think the reason is that roots don't stop channels and the blink portion may be uninterruptible similar to Ezreals arcane shift. So if the root lasts longer than the channel he will blink to the target location still rooted.

To me that feels kind of dumb and part of the reason Fiddle has been nerfed several times. When his ult is the exception to several set rules.

not really an exception, roots do not stop channels and many mobility spells have similar interactions with CC effects, where they still allow the champion to travel to the location but the CC effect takes effect after the dash or blink is finished, Lee sin for example can Q over a Caitlyn trap and will only be rooted once the dash ends. It's not only mobility effects either, a lot of abilities can be buffered around CC effects, Nautilus Q and thresh Q will not be interrupted by CC and in the case of Nautilus, he will still travel if he hits terrain, whick can be used to cancel out displacement abilities such as a Blitz Q.

No but my point is if you aren't able to blink. Why could you finish the channels and teleport. At the very least make him sit in the spot with his ult on.

that would actually be different from how other mobility abilities work in the game though, Aatrox Q for example can be interrupted by displacement, but something like a dark binding will not cancel the dash, instead rooting him in the end location, one example from a game I've played involved hitting an Ezreal with Enchanted Crystal Arrow while he was in the brief channel for arcane shift, the arrow did not stop him from blinking because the blink itself is uninterruptible but he arrived at his destination while still stunned.

Fiddle ult is actually comprised of 3 different parts, a channel, which is interrupted by hard CC and is necessary in order to activate the other 2 portions, a blink, which is uninterruptible after the channel portion and is treated like any other mobility spells for the purposes of CC, for the purpose of soft CC, which only impairs movement the blink is considered to be started at the beginning of the channel, and the damaging self targeting aura effect.

You can prevent the cast of mobility spells with soft or hard CC, but you can only stop an in progress mobility spell with hard CC, with the exception of blinks which are uninterruptible while in progress because a champion will essentially be untargetable between the start and end points.
