I'm tired of the fucking defeatist attitude in this game

Jefftiffy··203 votes·8,839 views

I mean sure ur down 5 kills the score is 0/5 but wtf does that mean. Nothing absolutely nothing. "GG enemy team fed" more like "GG out team gave up". I'm sick and tired of it and it is probably the most toxic thing in this game. It pissed me off to no end that people will fucking give up after single deaths when sometimes its their own fault. The last game I was in our Alistar was blaming me for losing to WW who was in my jungle 24/7 and not a single lane came to help me. Meanwhile Ali's defense is that I shouldn't need help in my own jungle. I'm sorry but this is a gold Elo player saying this. And you are telling me that the game was over since the start because I got counter jungled when you refused to help me?

This game is getting really bad. So many games in the lobby I am told to stay silver when I am gold and I ward more than most of my team and perform better, but because we didn't win its my fault when they gave up or fed or didn't control their lane. They then proceed to give up because of something they caused. I think people who give up and proceed to sit there and blame someone for the loss really just need a straight up ban.

If you don't even try then ofc the game is over. Saying GG or surrender at 20 isn't going to give you any chance to come back. In fact it's usually a sign that you are tilted and shouldn't be playing. I mean at one point we aced the enemy team and took 2 towers while 15 kills behind and 3 towers down. But "GG enemy team is fed we have no chance". Sure we lost, but I mean when you have someone tilted causing everyone else to tilt ofc you are going to lose. If you play positive you can still win and not rely on a single person to carry the team.

It's not even that I'm mad at this. It's just really hard to have any sort of fun whether it's ranked or normals whenever you have a team that is so set on losing the game that even when you start to come back the tilt throws everything away. It's one thing to give up because the game is done and you know there is no chance, that is what the surrender button if for. You shouldn't be trying to convince your entire team to end a game.

You know what's even better? When your team is actually ahead, but one or two people don't realize it and repeatedly complain and vote to surrender. Like, I see that you're 0/3 top. But our mid is 4/0 and our bot is 3/1. We're fine.

Or when two people on your team start fighting each other and threatening to afk for something stupid... honestly, I never know what to do in those situations so I just say nothing.

I know what you're saying! Even if someone is 0/9/0 they can still help the team out. Hell one game I was playing vayne against Vi and Yasuo . I died first in every single team fight but my team kept cleaning up afterwards so I just stopped caring that I was dead all the time lol. Obviously no adc likes to have their team carry them, but it was pretty funny because it seemed like the only thing they knew how to do.

Tl dr : it's not about your score! You gotta look at your relation to the whole game and see what kind of impact you are making.

I remember when I used to play a lot of Diana jungle after she was no longer ridiculously strong, there was one match where I was simply being destroyed to the point where I had few kills and mostly deaths at 13 minutes. I was simply being vaporized by the other team going into every team fight and I was being heavily discouraged. They were a mostly AD team too, which gave me the chance to build mostly Armor and HP. I even built item 3025 as a result. Finally, one team fight where I dove someone important and was tanky enough to basically force the other team to waste nearly everything on me. My team cleaned up and we won.

I think people give up too easily for sure and forget that making the enemy team work hard to kill you can be just as powerful as Dragon or Baron. It forces them out of position and to become overconfident, making it much easier to kill them without paying for it. Given League allows a team fight at the late game to single-handedly sway a game, I think we can all be a bit more optimistic when a game isn't totally lost.

That said, if it's 9-23 and the fed enemy team has 3 Dragons, 5 towers and Baron compared to your team's 0 Dragons and 2 Towers, I think it might be game over.

Was in a 4 man premade with friends once and the top was the random. He was getting camped super hard and was like 1/6 or something and just wanted out but the rest of us were doing really well getting dragons towers and kills cause the jungler was always top so it was 4v3 basically.

He tried to surrender at 20 and went afk when we declined... well he woulda went afk but the other team surrendered before he got the chance.. he was complaining to the other team after telling them they should never have surrendered cause we were trash or something... I don't remember exactly but it was hilarious... and sad.

I can honestly say that that right there is the cause of 90%+ of my losses. I tell my teammates to mute each other, stop arguing and play, that they wont ever see each other again so they should try win for their own sake. I copy paste "GL HF STAY POSITVE, A SALTY TEAM NEVER WINS" in champ select. Nothing works. This "give up" attitude ruins the game. And the arguing always starts when some egotistical a-hole gets his jimmies rustled when he makes a really stupid play because he thinks he is godly.

man, why can't people just play to the best of their ability? What is giving up in that game going to do for you? At least if you put your full effort into it, you have a chance of winning, you ALWAYS have a chance of winning. Giving up just puts you on tilt regardless. This is a universal problem, from silver 4 to plat 1 this is the attitude I see EVERY time our team gives up first blood. I don't see why people think its ok to put other people on tilt by doing this. Its NOT ok. I hope that the majority of the community realizes this and makes one big effort to shape up.

There is a point at which the game is basically lost. I mean if you're down 30 kills, the enemy team has 4 dragons and 2 barons, you have only one Nexus turret left, and the enemy team outscales you late-game, then you're probably screwed. That said, you have to recognize when a game is winnable, and when it isn't.

Recently I had a game where top was feeding the crap out of not only his laner, but also mid because he just couldn't keep up the ward coverage to deal with Diana roaming up there constantly. Unfortunately, I wasn't doing that great in lane either and was already 0/1 to the Diana and down about 20 CS at 20 minutes, so I really couldn't follow her, especially with the top laner already being fed. And I could tell this poor guy wanted nothing more than to surrender. But our bot lane was even, and I wasn't that far behind, and we technically outscaled them late-game, if we could just make it there. So I basically just kept saying that we could win, took all the blame for everything bad that happened so no one went on tilt, and tried to make it so we didn't surrender. Our ADC Quinn somehow ended up getting ridiculously fed over the course of a couple teamfights, and I ended up eventually surpassing Diana in CS, to the point where our items were even. We ended up making the craziest comeback I've ever been part of, where we were at one point down by 30 kills with a dead inhib, only to surpass the enemy team by 10 kills and win the game.

Jeanne fan club2 votes

None of that would have happened if your team argued and surrendered, why cant people realize that?

Blade of Justic28 votes

Here's how I judge it:

I won't throw in the towel after we lose first blood.

I won't throw in the towel after we lost all of our outer turrets.

I won't throw in the towel if our score is 10 - 18.

But FFS, I'd like to stop playing once they more than double our score, 10 - 28, and we're down to just our inhib turrets after they took dragon 3 times. But nope, gotta keep playing because "C'mon guys, if we use the power of friendship and happiness, we might cause them to disconnect so that we win the game with a handicap!

Edit: BTW, I'm talking about normals, not ranked. In ranked, I'm never surrendering. Worse case scenario, we lose anyways.

Chromatic Eagle10 votes

Even LCS players surrender and they have more on the line than ranked players.

Guy Fox Teemo9 votes

They surrender when they have 3 inhibs down, enemy has baron, and down 15k gold. They surrender because a coordinated LCS team will close out that game and win. Solo Queue is entirely different they'll probably go in stand at mid lane for a few mins, stupidly dive, get kill and have to draw back letting the enemy get a back into the game.

Top River King2 votes

Precisely. In ranked, particularly at low levels, it's amazing how many throws you see, so you'll never see me surrender. But in normals it's simply not worth it, as all you get is a little more IP. I'm still reluctant to surrender, sure; however, if they have double our kills, baron, and open inhibs... well, you can be absolutely certain that I'm going to surrender in that case. You'd be shocked at how many refuse to surrender at that point.

Verxint6 votes

What baffles me is people seem so eager to surrender early if the game isn't easy, but if we're 35 minutes in and its clear they have a dominating lead, suddenly the never surrender attitude comes in.

Don't surrender before they take inhib towers. I think once they've got an inhibitor it would be ok :/

I recently had a game where I was 3/6 graves and had more gold on my person than the enemy 19/3 yi. There is more to an advantage than kills.

Quil Evrything5 votes

now the most important detail:

Did your team win or lose that game?

Zyorhist4 votes

we lost, but it was extremely close.

Quil Evrything8 votes

Thank you for being honest. The core truth being that you did lose. "close only matters in horseshoes and hand grenades" as the saying goes.

Now, given that the ONLY thing that matters according to Riot, is whether your team wins or loses the game... you and 4 other people just wasted your time beyond the 20minute mark.

Given the amount of fedness on that Yi, it was almost a certainty that you WOULD lose. He could probably almost 1v5 your entire team at that point.

end game, he most likely just solo pushed turrets, maybe dying a few times in the process... until he won the game for his team. amirite?

so... pointless game after that.

Alright. But all it takes is one player to make a difference. If they are out playing you and you can't contest drag, baron , or push a few towers then it is pointless . But if they have poor positioning, aren't pushing towers/advantages, or have much less farm you have a great chance at winning a game if you do those things.

I've had games where I've pushed towers and won us game because we got an inhibitor which forced them to play much more defensive and forced a wedge in which we could push more towers and gain even more advantages. Anyways all in all no game is pointless and I make the clear point of saying "if you don't have an hour to spare then why load up a match?" The match isn't decided in 10 minutes anyways. Unless it's a clear stomp 20-0 and by then you are probably at 25-30minutes. Then I see it appropriate to surrender but if it's 5-0 at 5 minutes you totally have a good chance at turning that around and making it a win through smart decision making. The biggest fault I find with people like you is that you don't try to counter build or make an excuse to their death toll. Instead of blaming stuff use that enegry to ask yourself "how did I screw up" and "how can I prevent that from happening next time". Gets ya a lot further than if you are negative and blame shit and say "gg" at first blood.

Zyorhist18 votes

Actually they only won because of a botched team fight. I was caught out of position and he deleted me before I could respond. So no it wasn't a waste of time, we had a valid shot of winning, I made a bad decision and lost the game for my team.

luckmallory2 votes

That is literally impossible

Zyorhist12 votes

literally is not impossible

19 kills, at MOST amounts to 19X300=5700 gold. so I needed to have made 5700 gold, meaning that after subtracting my 3 kills, two of which were shutdowns on him (2X500=1000 and 1X300=300, 1000+300=1300. 5700-1300=4400.
I needed to have made 4400 gold. that's a mere 4400/20=220 farm. And well...I finished with almost 350. So yea I out golded his mere 80 farm with 19 kills.

Rinky Dinky2 votes

Dont forget about shutdowns~

DrCyanide8 votes

And the diminishing gold value for those who have been killed repeatedly, and the bonus gold for getting multiple assists in a row.

I've been working out the calculations for a few games, and more often than not the person who was something like 12/3/0 gave more gold to the enemy team than the person who was 1/7/0. People need to shake this notion that sheer number of deaths is what constitutes feeding.

Verxint3 votes

There needs to be a "Gold Given to enemy team" statistic postgame. That would do a lot.

ChaoticPinecone3 votes

If it was a jungle Yi, remember that jungle camps give more gold per cs - plus the gold bonus on the jungle items. If its a lane Yi, im surprised that he got 19 kills with only 80 cs. You would get more than 80 cs by a by-product of using your Q.

no, it does actually mean something. If your TEAM score is 0 and 5 in the first 5 minutes, its highly probably that your team sucks and you're gonna lose.

yeah, 1 time out of 10, you might pull off a comeback. But here's the thing: most of us sane people DONT WANT TO PLAY THOSE OTHER 9 GAMES. It's not worth suffering through 9 games of agony, and hours of wasted life, just to maybe see that 1 comback.

So dont be a pissy brat; be a team player, let the team surrender, and stop torturing the poor noobs.

The game (for me) isn't over until this advantage has led to objectives. If the score is 5 to 20 but they have only taken the outer turrets, I'll continue to play and try my best. If the score is 5 to 20 and they've taken an inhib (and we haven't even opened one yet), the game is probably over.

That is also a really annoying thing for me. We have only lost all the outer turrets enemy team only has inhib turrets left but they are up 10-15 kills and team just surrenders when the game is still largely up in the air at that point. As a Duo I could stop that kind of stupid surrender but as solo I have to sit there and slam my head into the table because my team thinks this game is Team Death Match.

The point remains the same. if they haven't ended by that point from just minions pushing they are throwing hard. They are letting the enemy farm back into it pretty fast. It only takes one bad teamfight to throw a game at that point.

Some players just don't want to waste time in a match that's been already decided, why waste time in an inevitably losing game when you can start a new one with new teammates and play even better than your last game to get a win.

Celeste Benal6 votes

Issue at hand is that most people don't have the skill to tell when its really over.

TwoD3 votes

I can tell whenever a match is over for my team or the enemy team, actually most players plat and above know and should know when a game is unwinnable. It's only the stubborn ones that barely do and don't advance anyway.

Guy Fox Teemo2 votes

No game in unwinnable , unless your down 20 kills , the enemy has baron, 3 inhibs then yes the games over. If the score is 5-20 and you still have your outers its entirely possible to pull out a easy win. I didn't waste 20 mins for someone to quit, its Ranked (Idc if it was a normals I'd FF) but in ranked you dont FF, it's the competitive mode and you should put the time and effort to win every game. If you don't have that attitude then don't ever play ranked.

in ranked you ff lost games to move on to the next one. I'd rather not drag it out because the other team is slow at closing, when I can just start a new one.

I really hate how people will try to continue games even when your team is 40 kills down and has no turrets pushed. It's different if you're only a few thousand gold behind, because one good teamfight can fix that, but people really need to learn when they've lost.
