In the NFL, teams never surrender even if the score is 35-0.

It is because there is always a chance to come back, and it is considered sportsmanship to continue the game to the end. You should apply this to League, even if it looks bleak, never surrender, as there is always a chanc to come back.

No, they're out there because they get paid.

And the game also makes money from ticket sales.

There are no such stakes in normal (or ranked) games.

OK, do you see High School teams surrender at half time? They're not getting paid.

Yes, you do, and college too. They don't "end the game" prematurely, but they often pull all their starters and run out the 2nd, or 3rd string. Which basically just turns the game into a glorified scrimmage to get experience for guys who don't play. I'm a proponent of playing till the nexus is destroyed, but yeah, teams "give up" in other games/sports all the time.

It's called a running clock. Once the lead is so much the clock never stops in the second half. It's pretty normal anymore. That is footballs version. And pulling starters.

There is some form of throwing in the towel for all sports honestly.

The equivalent mechanic in League would be inhibitors respawning slower if you're too far behind. It's not teams giving up at the 20 minute mark.

There's no notion of snowballing in NFL

I agree with you but sorry, children today aren't raised in this manner for the most part. They are raised to try instead of do and when they get tired of trying, they quit because hard.

Hard work, integrity, and discipline are not taught very much in todays society. The same crap that happens here, happens at your local McDonalds too. It's pathetic.

Hard work for a game? You do understand the primary goal when playing a game is to have fun, correct? Also let's not pull the whole generation crap. It's a generalization which is quite frankly absolutely moronic.

Other people aren't going to make it easy for you. You also shouldn't just quit when it does get difficult, because it will. Especially in ranked, where people "care" more.

No matter how slim your chances are, they drop to 0 when you quit.

I love how you picked out the least important of the three. You probably have no idea WTF integrity and discipline mean so that's why you chose this route. Know those and hard work is not hard, it's natural. The fact that you don't understand that is the only thing moronic here.

Right of course we should just all play Poro King and Arams all day long. That will definitely show our integrity and discipline! By all means feel free to keep digging your hole.

By only addressing part of my post tells anyone with a brain that I'm not the one digging a hole.

In the NFL people pay tickets which allow them a certain guarantee period of time to watch the game. It is completely different than people playing on their home computers. If you look at the pro scene, you'll see that teams rarely surrender.

Ofc when all your inhibitors are down and that you have one turret left, you can come back, it's known by everyone.

There is always a chance for a comeback, but if you're not surrendering, you should also trying to make that comeback possible, in whatever form. Stall by waveclearing, picking off enemies, getting vision, splitpush, contest objectives, etc. But some team compositions just can't do those things, or sometimes you're just too far behind to do those things, and only chance of victory is the enemy team throwing. Surrender is pretty reasonable in those instances.

Better to understand your mistakes and move on to the next game than sit in a guaranteed loss game, wasting upwards of 40 minutes of your life.

You can't compare the two...you really can't.

It's more likely because they are ADULTS!

We have whiney kids on league that "wah wah someone hurt my feelings report. wah wah my team is bad surrender for new game"

In "Little Legaue" there ARE mercy rules. If anything the facts that CHILDREN need these says more than anything!

GiveMeUrMilk1 votes

If you are going to bring up a sport as an analogy. Football is a terrible choice. Baseball is much better, Youth baseball has a mercy rule to prevent complete humiliation of one team

"It is especially common in baseball and softball in which there is no game clock and a dominant team could in theory continue an inning indefinitely."

Like in baseball, if a winning team wanted to, they could just keep the game going. It's not fun for the losers at all. Sure you can report them after but you still have to suffer through it. Sure you MIGHT be able to come back, but once games are that bad many people become demoralized and lose not because they are incapable of making a comeback, but because they no longer have the mindset that anything they do could possibly help them turn things around.

Comebacks are possible, but then, so is snow in July in Florida. Mostly not probable, but certainly the possibility exists.
